Am up, have ascertained that Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls are very different from Orange Rolls (who knew? we’ve been eating Orange Rolls since we were little and brother accidentally bought cinnamon instead. Different texture, size, amount of cinnamon, etc. I always figured the only difference would be the icing.)
I have to go to the Credit Union, then we’re going to the big Farmer’s Market, and then to the Apple Store. Woo hoo.
Happy Saturday all. And congrats to St. Pat’s and the 50th anniversary couple as well.
Been a semi expensive mornin’ at chez swamp. The a/c did not feel like it was coolin’ right. Sho’ 'nuff it was not. So, I called the a/c guy who discovered a shot compressor switch. Said he’d seen a lot of those lately. Seems that many, many days (two plus weeks!) of over a hunnert temps is the culprit. Anywho, I am a hunnert dollars poorer but cool. Le sigh. We’re just in from the pool and had ham and cheese sammiches for N.O.L.. OYKW is in the shower. When he’s out I’ll shower. Then we’re off to wish the happy couple a happy big 5-0 anniversary.
We breakfasted at Cracker Barrel, then ran to WalMart for some of my flavored waters and some carpet flea powder. **FCD **wanted to go to Borders to look for a book on Solid Works, but they didn’t have any. So we came home. My new TV was delivered - sitting there on the porch in a box that said “LED-LCD TV” - guess we’re lucky we’re in a safe neighborhood an our porch can’t be seen from the street.
I got some laundry started, then sprinkled the flea powder all over the place. **FCD **went to the office - he works way too much. I set up the new TV and the Roku unit so I’ll be able to get Netflix in the bedroom. Yay! Then the first load went into the dryer, the second went into the washer, I vacuumed up the flea powder, and now I’m taking a break and having some lemonade. Next stop will be the couch with the clicker.
We’ve got an appraiser coming this week - with luck, we’ll be able to refinance. I hope. Fingers crossed that the value of houses around here didn’t drop too much. Anyway, I need to tidy before he shows up - I don’t need him tripping over stuff as he measures the house.
So now you’re all caught up with my day. Cool, huh?
I want my roomie/housesitter to leave so I can get to painting the orange room and moving furniture about, dagnabit! I mean, I wouldn’t want him to be leaving if he wasn’t (he’s nice an’ all that, I’ve known him since we measured him horizontally), but since he’s leaving I want him to be gone I’m sure that makes perfect sense.
Ran into a former boss’s-boss and former coworker at my current job. He’s an ass. If he wasn’t an ass, my position might not even have become necessary - so I guess I should be grateful… naaaaaah! I’m not his boss, but part of my job is to obtain certain information and make sure the people he’s working for get it: he should have done that, if he had any work-pride and not just a gimme-hand.
Busy morning!
Kitchen scrubbed, house dusted & polished, vacuumed, both bathrooms scrubbed, blinds dusted, steam vac’d all the tile, folded 4 loads of laundry, washed the bathmats and the entry mats.
House is clean and sanitised aka what mr ems calls girl clean! He has been warned to not touch anything lest it gets dirty while I am gone this week!
Off to shower as all that cleaning was hot and sweaty work this morning. Then lunch as I am starvink!
Home from the anniversary soire. 'Twas nice. We had adult orange juice, aka mimosas. The munchies were also good. I spied pimento cheese so I scooped me up some on some crackers, took a bite and went… YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
So, natch, I just had to know who made it. Turns out the maker is the happy couple’s oldest son. Also turns out not to be pimento cheese. He told me he uses roasted red peppers instead of pimentos and throws in a finely chopped jalapeno and blackened cajun seasonin’ along with extra sharp cheddar cheese and mayo. I shall have to experiment with this.
I just had a very nice phone call from my son. It seems he’s started seeing a young lady that he knew years ago, and he likes her a lot. A whole lot. It must be important to him, if he’s actually telling me about her! I haven’t met many of his grlfriends in the past.
I’m very happy for him. He sounds very happy! She knows about his “history” - since she was actually a part of it back in the day. She has her own history, it seems, but she’s turned her life around and is going to school. I’m looking forward to meeting her.
Dad’s rooms, our bedroom, and two bathrooms are spiffy and shiny. Several loads of laundry have been done. Tomorrow will be more cleaning of the front room and the kitchen floor.
So now I will take a shower, get ready for dinner out, and have a cocktail!
Mwah!
I made brownies for a reception at the church house tomorrow. Ok, so they’re from a mix but I had to mix it all up and add chopped pee-cans which I chopped myself. Plus I had to preheat the oven, pour the batter into a pan, wait for 'em to bake, wait for ‘em to cool and then cut ‘em into squares, so it counts as bakin’. Also, I had to threaten OYKW with the spatula o’ doom to keep him away from the brownies.
New variation duly added to the pimento cheese recipe on the blog.
Yay on good son news, Rebo.
We did some cleaning this morning, went to the farmer’s market, went to the Apple Store, to Target, to Home Depot and other places I’m forgetting. Went to good Chinese for dinner, too. Yum!!!
Just watched The Blind Side, which I’d never seen. Sappy, but nice.
Mom and I went to the Irish Fest. Bought two rings, talked to some RenFaire people, watched some bands and dancers, petted the wolfhounds, looked at DeLoreans (because they’re made in Belfast). Had fun.
Got home and worked on some art while Mom and Dad slept.
**FCD **took the evil puppy out when she barked, so I mostly dozed till almost 6, so yay for that. It rained/is raining this morning. **FCD **plans to work again today (grrrrrr) so he and I are driving separately to breakfast, then he’ll go to the office and I’ll come home. Daughter is supposed to meet us and surprise him for Daddy’s Day.
I’ll mostly do some tidying today. No big chores - at least I don’t think there will be any.
One disappointment with the new TV - it doesn’t have an alarm clock function, so I’ll have to use the clock radio again. drat - I liked waking to channel 7 news and weather. Now I’ll have to turn it on myself. My life is so difficult… But at least I’ll be able to watch Netflix in bed - once the mounting bracket arrives - tomorrow, I hope.
FCM - if you have a cablebox - that alarm function exists in it.
Lovely sunny (but too humid for my taste) day here on the Guylindt. Gonna brunch it with my buds and then we’re gonna see The Green Lantern movie.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 76 degrees Amurrkin and feels like it. So hyooooooomid out! The high today is predicted to be a hunnert and one. ICK!
Happy Father’s Day to all you fatherly type mumpers!
MOOOOOOM none of my fancy new teevees have an alarm function. I guess that’s just not a teevee thang anymore. Weird.
Thanks for addin’ the pimento (roasted red pepper) cheese variation gt. I highly recommend tryin’ it out. I shall do so soon.
I agree with RosieBBBobbio. I think you should start us off tomorrow with the rescue story. It’d be an entertainin’ way to start off the new MMP.
ShinyCat that sounds like fun. The Irish Fest part that is. Don’t know about the irk part, unless you think it’s fun. Then it’d be fun.
Ok, I need me some more caffiene and should consider some brekkie. I may even be nice and cook real brekkie. Or not. That remains to be seen. Purtification for deheathenization must also commence.
Oh, the brownies survived the night. I put ‘em in the dinin’ room and told OYKW he was not allowed to enter that room. I was tough. Even sad puppy dawg eyes didn’t work. I get mean like that sometimes.
