Yeah, I’m laying around right now myself. My dinner in Tacoma Park last night was very fun (though I was exhausted - hard to keep my eyes open). Jose, Luis and their roommate Stephanie were wonderful hosts. They grilled lamb-burgers and corn on the cob, and had a nice salad. We ate out on the deck and stayed out there until 10pm, on freaking March 17th.
Of course being DC we had some excitement - around 9pm we heard three gunshots rapid fire about a block away. I went to my car, got my scanner and pulled up the Tacoma Park PD and listened for awhile. The way they were talking it was a known individual, and they had him (and his pitbull) in custody pretty quickly. No-one was injured.
So I’m doing the sleep in thing myself. One day off and I ain’t sharing it with anyone…
Ok, I think I’m more awake now. I just woke up from a short winter’s nap. I have to say my allergies are kicking my butt. I took a claritin a couple of minutes ago and I certainly hope it will help.
I’ve had a super busy, but pretty awesome Spring Break. Now I have to get back to doing my homework that is due on Tuesday. I’m trying to decide whether or not to actively pursue a sub job for tomorrow. I’ve got other miscellaneous homework that needs to be finished and I’ve also got my first show of the season coming up this weekend. I guess I’ll probably search for jobs periodically and if a good one comes up I’ll grab it.
Went to P.F. Chang’s for dinner the other night. It was good but… I don’t know, for the price I think I’d rather just head to the local Chinese Buffet.
Rolled out of bed this morning at 0930, and that was after 2 dawgs made sure I could no longer sleep. We went on a day trip to Cottonfield County to see the surrogate granddaughter, so sleeping in was deserved.
Today’s agenda: I just lit the smoker, and have a turkey, a small corned beef to make pastrami, and 3 lbs of sausage to go on an apple wood fire. The hard part is deciding what gets et first, and what goes into the freezer.
Also bought a buttload of Roundup to kill a buttload[sup]2[/sup] of weeds, and I got the lawnmower out of storage.
Grr hiss. My check engine light’s back on. I have a feeling I didn’t close the gas tank all the way when I filled up. Now I’ll have to go to the Car Fixin’ Place to have them check the codes and reset it properly. I need to pass inspection! VILE PROFANITIES
How long 'til you need to get it inspected? My experience with owners manuals has been you can close up the gas cap tight and after 3-4 trips (with a couple hours between them) the computer should reset the fault.
My son just left for school again. It’s always sad saying good-bye, but we’ll see him again in May.
Happy Birthday, **Pearl! ** I hope you have a wonderful day!
I don’t plan to do much other than laundry today. In fact, I’ve got a load of clothes going now. Mr. Taters plans on leaving the house long enough to get his ears lowered.
I was out and about yesterday with my daughter. Her new hair cut looks awesome. While I was wandering around the mall, I bought Season 2 of Downton Abby for my husband (he’s really been sucked into the show), and I also bought him some slippers. I bought some of my favorite lotion for myself. I half-heartedly looked at some clothes, but just couldn’t bring myself to buy any.
It’s cold and rainy outside. Actually, it’s a wintery mix of rain and snow. Spring has not sprung here yet.
We finally got around to hanging up the fishmy sister brought back from Haiti. Can you pick out which 5 she brought? Hint - the original fish are in the same album…
I never did get out into the yard - it’s still mostly overcast and nasty out. So, tomorrow. Right now, the corned beef is simmering and smelling yum! In half an hour or so, I’ll add the carrots and N.O.T. to the pot. Supper will be goooooooooood!! Meanwhile, back to knitting.
the nap probably would have helped more of several of my neighbors hadn’t picked today to start their Spring Home Improvement projects. Table saws, hammers, and loud radios are not good for naps.
I need to get my lazy self to go plant some seeds too- I did try and do some gardening today, but seeing as I’m restricted to using a trowel for another month, I didn’t do anything much but chat with the neighbours. Promised one of them a currant bush cutting 'cos she has such excellent gossip
In light of the not-digging, I’m now going to be sharing my allotment with a friend for the summer, seein’ as I’m not allowed to do anything, and it’ll be a mass of weeds otherwise. Only problem is, she’ll be down with her 3-year-old, who, while being hilarious, and fairly awesome in a lot of ways, is frankly a pain in the knee* when you’re using power tools or need her to stay off a newly planted bed. I need toddler entertainment ideas, and I need them fast… I’m going to get her some gloves, seeds and a few tools, and try and restrict her to one bed; hope that keeps her off the seedlings this time… I live in hope.
The homemade pastrami is excellent. The turkey is not yet done. Decided not to smoke any sausage. I got lazy after the second smoke cycle and put them in the oven.
I also sprayed the weeds around the yahd. Those growing among she grass will live a little longer, because I will mow once before putting down Turf Builder.
I failed the inspection at the end of January. I have sixty days past that to get it done, so by the end of next week. Then I start getting pulled for expired plates.
Howdy Y’all! Today we deheathenated and then had some bbq for N.O.L.. I was all tahrd from yestiddy still so I took a nap. Then I did some laundry. Wild day at da cave!
Having a successful day. I paid my taxes (although I still need to mail my state return), I finished picking up my room by finally organizing the kimono stuff that had been piled, overflowingly, in a corner. I’ve made sushi, because I wanted to practice making it before I make it to take camping next weekend. I took some pictures and put them on Facebook.
We’re watching “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” and the contestants are STOOOOOOPIT!! Seriously, one guy was asked “what is the fewest number of letters to make a word in the English language” and he had to get help to answer it. :smack: The stoopit - it burns!!
Who’s got tomorrow? When I get up, if nothing’s been started, I’ll toss something up there, but I make no promises about quality.
