Went to the doc’s this morning, to get my paper stitches taken off/funky new scar checked out; got told it’s all healing fine, all looking good, can go back to showering without having to keep it all dry now, which was great … until I got home, my housemate checked out the scar, and asked what the stitch was still doing there?
I can feel it too- a plasticky bit, but it doesn’t appear to have a knot, it’s just one end sticking straight out of the end of the scar- now I wasn’t supposed to be having any plastic stitches, only paper ones and dissolving internal ones, which, according to my little guide, should already have basically dissolved… so… what’s goin’ on? I’m back first thing tomorrow to see what the nurse says, and having nightmares of the surgeon leaving bits of spare plastic, and probably some scalpels and his sandwiches in there… It’s probably just an unusually long end of a dissolving bit, but it’s a little creepy.
Decided to take my mind off it by buying plants, and trying to attract spring back (it was definitely here earlier in the week, but I think the sun decided it was getting too cold for it, and buggered off yesterday). Got myself a little morello cherry tree, which I’m going to try get planted out at the weekend, and a rhubarb plant. One more step towards being an annoying, smug self-sufficient hippy.
Then went to pottery class, which was actually on today ; there’s only two more sessions though, and I can’t decide if I should go back for next term. It’s quite fun, and very close, and not very expensive, as I get a discount for being po’, but the house is already starting to get overrun with badly made wobbly pots, despite me missing half this term.
Oh, and {{{Phouka}}}
Remember the furniture and cool stuff I was talking about? I finally took pictures last night. And I’ll be posting them to my Facebook soon. I unfacebooked people I don’t see irl, but I’ll post a link if people are interested.
Dindin is et and was, as predicted, nummy! Ain’t nuttin’ like a good ol’ grilled out on the deck burger. MMMMMMMMMM…
I have had multiple conversations today about parsnips. I like parsnips and this is probably the most I’ve ever talked about ‘em. See, the persons in charge of buyin’ all the food for Sattidy’s big St. Patrick’s doin’s at the church house are buyin’ everything today. I told 'em twice to go to WallyWorld to get parsnips. Twice I got told how parsnips could not be found in three stores that are not WallyWorld. So, finally I got through to 'em to go to Wally*World and lo and behold parsnips! Plus, bonus root veggie score, nice turnips on sell.
Plus, tomorrow I have that most important of all tasks St. Patrick’s Day related, I get to go pick up a keg of green beer.
Daughter and I went to Bert’s for a quick supper. She’s gone home, but she’s coming back on Sat for corned beef and cabbage. **FCD **called and said he’d be here really late tomorrow - poor baby. Plus his back is killing him and he’s out of pain meds.
I fell asleep for a little bit this afternoon - all the fresh air kicked my butt! I’ll get some more tomorrow, I hope - we might get rain.
That’s all I’ve got. Off to veg in front of TV before crashing.
MWAH!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 61 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 83 for the day. Another Spring day in south Jawja. Oh and the pine pollen is everywhere! ICK!
Today’s excitatement is irk, pickin’ up a keg of green beer and takin’ it to the church house, gettin’ the meat chopped and seasoned for tomorrow’s “Irish” stew makin’ and more irk. Fun day.
Ok that’s all I got. I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, purtification for irk and the day’s doin’s must commence. However, it is Firday so it’s wear jeans day.
Happy Firday Y’all!
One of my coworkers has forgotten his cellphone at his desk.
He’s got a sonar ringtone and someone who really, really misses him.
Blurf.
I ain’t working today, and still I’s up early. Also, paid my bills for added suck to start the day.
:grumble:
Hey, is you who wanted to haz Firday
No more wake ups til Monday!
Even with my sweetie out of town, I’ve been waking around 5. Today, I did manage to fall back to sleep for about an hour before hitting the shower. I think it helped that it’s overcast and dreary out - heck, I feel like I could go back to sleep now! But I won’t.
Instead, I ran to WaWa for a breakfast sammich and now I’m just killing time till my Dr appt later this morning. Since it’s icky out, I may not be working in the yard - we’ll see how the day progresses.
I started my on-line morning with a multi-forwarded email about a “virus” that was debunked back in 2007 or so, according to Snopes. I sent my mom an email asking her to check snopes before forwarding such crap - but she sees *virus *and goes crazy. I suppose I should be grateful that she’s cautious…
If that’s the worst I have to deal with today, then I’m lucky, I guess.
Happy Firday!
Everyone sleeping in today? I’m back with a prescription for GoLytely (ick) and an appointment for Apr 4. rah. It’s still icky outside - I may play in clay today.
I’m at work, and I even have access to work. It’s taken a while, they’d forgotten to set me up in a couple of systems. I still don’t have access to report my hours.
I also have a case of the Don Juanas.
Howdy all! Hey Swampy, I loves me some parsnips, and they taste especially good when they are roasted, btw. Just sayin’!
We will be having corned beef and cabbage with potatoes of course on Saturday. Rachael Ray was showing how to make corned beef for yourself, how to actually “corn” the beef brisket, that is. She claimed it was not hard (LOL) but it looked like quite a bit of work was involved. It is actually just brined and it takes about 2-3 days, I think. You’d need a rather large pot, though, plus you need somewhere to put the pot, preferably in the fridge, although Rachael Ray says they used to just stick it outside. You couldn’t do that unless it was near freezing outside, though!
Good luck with the GoLytely, FCM; I forgot, have you taken that before? Just be ready to have very close access to the toilet!
I don’t have much news this week; LiLi, praying for your family and glad to hear that the babies are thriving. Hope everyone that is sick will get better quickly.
At least it is Friday, right?
tarra, I’ve had this particular procedure done, but the stuff I drank then (which has been pulled off the market) was a small bottle, and you mixed a couple of ounces at a time into water. Drinking a gallon will be a challenge, altho she said I had from 2PM to midnight to drink it all, so it’s not like I have do chug it. Still, ick. Thank goodness it’s just once a decade.
Temp is hovering around 50 - I’m thinking we’re not going to see upper 70s unless the clouds suddenly disappear. According to the weather radar, there’s a band of rain heading in this general direction, so it may stay chilly. We shall see.
I need to forage for lunch. I’m thinking maybe grilled cheese??
Blurf. I didn’t want to get up today.
Still looking for an apartment. I may have to suck it up and rent a room. The problem with that is that I’m such an introvert that I find living with other people stressful, especially if I’m under other stress, and to avoid that I avoid the public areas, which means I don’t eat much. It’s not so bad with my parents in that regard.
Howdy from irk! I’s havin’ N.O.L., red beans and rice and a bizkit from Popeye’s cause I had me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for some and Popeye’s is half a block away. MMMMMMM… Ima leave out of hear around one to go get the keg o’ green beer and head over to the church house to unload said keg and to prep stuff for tomorrow’s marathon day of cookin’. I’ve already told OYKW that tonight is forage for dindin night.
Oh… BIG WEDDIN’ NEWS!!! The date has been set. Mom and Mr. Frank will get hitched on April 28th. That bein’ a Sunday they decided it’d be a good time cause they can get married right after church and then have a big N.O.L. with just family. I like the idea of short, simple and sweet. Ima get me a new daddy.
Congrats on your new daddy, swampster!! So happy for your mom!
I just got a call from my sweetie - he’s on his way home and with luck, he’ll be here by 4-ish. Huzzah!
The sun tried to break thru for a few minutes, but to no avail. It has gotten a wee bit warmer - almost 60 now, but still, not a very nice day.
I still need to find lunch.
It’s Firdayfirdayfirdayfirdayfirdayfirday. Yep, it’s Firday (elebentyone!)
Got my corned beef yesterday (to make tomorrow) but I made the executive decision that I do not like cabbage so I’m having corned beef and carrots. And N.O.T. I got a 2.5 pound c.b. and since I’m the only one, I figure it will be the single serving size. Forgot to check the horseradish status though.
Swampy, will you be ring bearer at mamma’s wedding?
Hooray for swampyfamily!
I hate it when people don’t fulfill their obligations to me, especially when it’s financial. I can’t ask again for the cable bill money because I know what the excuse will be: “Oh, the car’s broken and we need to pay for that.” Not my fault you don’t maintain your vehicles. I just had to fix my car to pass inspection, which I can’t even do until next week because I don’t have the money due in part to your failure to pay.
I’m seriously thinking about keeping a running tab on how much I’m not getting for the bill and then when I get my own place, paying the last rent to them minus the unpaid portion of the bill. And then if I hear any lip, “Oh, that’s what you owed me and never paid. Good luck finding an idiot with an unsecured wifi connection again.”
My membership in the Slapahoe Tribe from Kickabitch Creek is fully paid up today. Watch out.
