Howdy from da cave! Irk and Moanday both lived up to their names today. So glad it’s all over. My mornin’ trip to the southeast ended up bein’ six hours as besides doin’ two enrollments I ended up goin’ to see two participants at their sites about some problems they were havin’. Sigh. Looks like I’ll need to move one of ‘em somewhere else even though I am more inclined to figure out how to get rid of her for cause. IIf’n it does happen that her agency says they want her to move, I think perhaps a 30 day leave of absence while a new agency is sought might have to happen. Plus, with both [del]minions[/del] assistants also bein’ out and about today, I had a ton of voicemails on the orifice phone when I got back. On the plus side, I did get approvals for six new people to get started next week, so yay for that.
{{{MOOOOOOM and Spaz}}} hope y’all are better soonest.
Dindin was beef/veggie soup and cornbread. Tomorrow is go eat Chinese commestibles night. OYKW decreed it, so who am I to argue, especially when he’s buyin’.
Summer is my fav-o-rite season. I am a Summer baby and I lurve bein’ out at the cee-mint pond even if I must always have on hand anti-shark artillery.
…& where is our Cap’n? What did you do to him, Swampy???
Had Italican (or Mexilian?) food for dinner. Spegetts with meat sauce, ‘cept the ‘meat’ was turkey & the package of ground turkey was taco seasoned. Twas nummy but since I didn’t do much spice addin’, it wasn’t too peppery. I like peppery…& garlicky!
Home again, home again. Got a call before I left for work – my most beloved (and only) twin (born 11 years before me) brother has to go into the hospital for a triple bypass. I of course offered to do it for him with my drain snake and some plastic tubing but silly him insists on real doctors and stuff. I’ll be worried of course (and good thoughts will be appreciated) but with our birthday coming up I got a good feeling.
I didn’t initially realize you were talking about taking stills from the video. I was like ‘damn, she’s got the same crap going on there!’
Listening to my scanners now - a fire engine slid off the road into a ditch (no injuries) a few miles away. I am staying home, safe & sound. I have a double batch of Chicken Divan cooking in the oven, I ain’t leaving for nuthin!
Without even looking I assume that was the Georgetown March… One of the most fun nights I had in years. The march wasn’t a ‘permitted’ march and was supposed to be a surprise but the cops & media caught wind of it and we were all there. Pure mayhem in a driving rain.
Honestly this town hasn’t had any good anarchist insanity in years. I kinda miss it…
What is this “spring” of which you speak? I see no evidence of anything resembling temperatures above freezing; ground that isn’t frozen or covered with snow; or plants that look like they’re coming back to life. Frankly, I’m starting to think the whole “seasons other than winter” is commie rat propaganda spread by the North Koreans or something.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 58 Amurrkin and foggy with a predicted high of 79 for the day. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be around 80 then the temps go back down and we shall have rain. So say the weather PTB. We shall see.
I shall be up to my considerably large tushie in paperirk today. I need to finish up on yestiddy’s leftover paperirk, plus, I sneaked in and took a peek at irk email and I see some more folks have been approved to start next week so that adds to the pile. [del]Minions[/del] Assistants are out in the field again today enrollin’ folks so I shall be sans supervision. Good thing I got stuff to keep me busy.
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
My car is in the shop and I’ve got one of their piece-of-crap loaners. I’m not complaining - I’m thrilled that they have a loaner. But it’s still a piece of crap Cavalier. I’m sure it looks like crap because people don’t give a damn about loaners. Anyway, I’m home till they call. With luck, it’ll be before the rain sets in.
That story was a fucked up day. It was early on a Saturday morning, I had trouble sleeping that night so I had got up early in the morning and went downstairs to chill. I had turned on the scanner when I overheard Baltimore County Police trying to triangulate on a cell phone of a woman who claimed to be locked in the trunk of a car. The first bit of video was the cop cars looking around.
Then about 40 minutes later a bystander called police saying they heard someone yelling for help in a car. I was a few minutes away from the address and rushed to the scene to get that video.
What is messed up is that we aired the video on our early morning newscast that Saturday but then never followed up on the story! Apparently when our weekend assignment editor called the police for more info later they were told it was a ‘drug related problem’ and our people decided to drop further investigation. It was later in my career that I learned to bypass such idiotic thinking and push a story along.
It’s a sunny 27 degrees, going to get up to 36 so hopefully any rain won’t be freezing. At least not until after I get to the armpit.
The coming weekend looks like it’s going to be warm - in the 40s - and sunny.
Irk AND school today, on virtually no sleep. Happy happy joy joy. At least I got plenty of kitty cuddles (must remember to trim her front claws, though).
Uh! What is wrong with people? My SO has been moved - physically moved, that is - in his office. In the new space one of the people in the area is a “red-blooded American” who literally walks around saying that America is for white people, and for Christians, no matter what anyone says, and everyone is going to have to deal with it.
My SO happens to be ethnically Chinese. In reality he is as American as anybody - born here, raised here, doesn’t even speak Chinese, no question of which his country is. Just because he has almond eyes he has to listen to this crap.
Worse yet, all of the white people sitting around him don’t say anything, or at best, nervously laugh.
