The Start of The Irk Week MMP

Yay for Gnat being home and ornery!

Yaytaxi! I swore when I joined this company I wouldn’t be ‘a manager’ and what do you know I ended up doing several management jobs and ended up being good at it. I am great with people and apart from the occasional exception people tend to want to work for me. What you described is a good place to start - the awkward conversations do take some practice but you get more comfortable with them. Find your style and stick to it. Be fair and consistant. Remove the layers of crap/bullshit that can come down from above before it makes it to your guys and you will have a pretty smooth running team. Or ignore anything I said above

Lots of interviews today and lots tomorrow then on Sunday I leave for the start of 3 marathon weeks of travel where I get home for 14 hours three times over the next 20 days. Rah!

Chicken boobs for supper - not sure how to cook them but there will be cauliflower in cheese sauce and asparagus as sides as that is what we have in the fridge and needs using.

**Spaz **- it’s all a matter of experience - the more you crochet, the less you find you have to re-do stuff. Still, I’ve been knitting and crocheting for more than 40 years and I occasionally have to tear stuff out. Fortunately, I usually catch the mess-ups sooner so I don’t have to rip out as much. Just keep at it.

Incidentally, I found a quick and easy, neat-looking afghan, perfect for using up scraps. I get a big hook - 8-11mm - and I use a double strand of yarn. Then I just double crochet. The mixed colors are pretty and the big hook and double strands give a nice texture. Plus it goes FAST!!

We went to Famous Dave’s for supper - not my first choice, but I was outvoted. My salmon was good, so there was that. It was just a lot more $$$ than I’d hoped to spend. Oh well.

C’mon Firday!! Seriously!

Home and it’s the beginning of my long weekend. Yay!

Glad everyone’s home,** LiLi**. Hope Nat is 100% soon.

You’re really fortunate to have some good management examples, taxi. Sounds like you’ve learned some good basic principles already. As for the unpleasant stuff: if you start with a good team of people and hire carefully, the awkward stuff doesn’t come up all that often. And, as mmmmmmmm said, you eventually learn to handle it.

We had bean and chicken nachos for dinner. And beer. Now I want chocolate.

Off to find something to do… knitting, I think.

Not a good evening. Gnat went very low and we had to administer Glucagon with a large needle. By ‘administer’ I mean Mr. Lissar had to inject him with a large needle while he screamed in terror and I held him down.

Anyway, I need to go to bed soon.

:frowning: Poor Gnat.
In the middle of pit drama I somehow inserted myself into. Ah, well.

Been there and done that on the giving side. One regular patient usually came up swinging, too.

Rebo, I layover at the Houston airport tomorrow. I’ll stand by the window in the terminal and wave to you, just make sure you look so you see me.

more get well vibes for Gnat Poor kiddo and poor parents. How’s TomKitten?

Talking with Littlebro yesterday he told me about poking his nose into “why” were they going to do something a certain way (they’re implementing “an ERP”; I hate it that “an ERP” has come to mean a business management database when “ERP” is actually a management philosophy - the database isn’t worth shit without the mindset) and “ok, so why” and “ok, so why”… and eventually got a single step in the process changed from “needs a date entered manually” to “dates calculated automatically”, and that means one of the admins goes from having to do something about 20x a day to only once. Dude’s not a manager officially, but he’s got a certain “clucky hen” ownership of “his” admins, which I think is nice because it works, damnit. And at the same time, he’s got absolutely no qualms telling someone who’s not pulling his weight to grab that pole and get pulling.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 46 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 72. Gasp! Tomorrow it will be 80 Amurrkin so back to the warm up. I have an ambitious plan of yahd irk plus cleanin’ the back porch since the pine tree orgy is apparently over for the year. YAY! This has been your mornin’ south Jawja weather report.

{{{Gnat, LiLi, TomKitten and Mr. Lissar}}} I figure everybody could use a hug. Poor Gnat. Hope things calm down soon for him.

As I already mentioned, tonight is pizza night courtesy of Papa John’s cause they have a special on their “The Works” pizza and we are right fond of “The Works”. I might even go crazy and make a sallit so it’s healthy. Everybody knows if you throw in a sallit it’s healthy, right?

taxi what everybody else has said. I bet you’d be good management material.

I think I need to check out Soapy’s pit drama just cause I like other people’s drama. That’s also why I like Spaz’s other personna, Agony Aunt Ryl. Drama and snark, all win-win!

Now I need more caffiene and should feed rumbly tummy before commencin’ purtification for irk. Irk is a lot of paper irk. This seems to be a Firday trend at irk.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Pfaugh, 70s about 8am and 90s at 6pm here. I’ve added “missing the 6-month heatwave they call ‘summer’ down here” to the list of “pluses about ending this assignment”.

A very good morning today, because it’s finally FIRDAY!

I’m up and caffeinated and have eaten a santa fe omelet in a pita (really tasty, no meat though!). Many hugs again for the entire Lissar family, along with prayers especially for Nat. Also wondering how TomKitten is doing. You’re all in my thoughts.

Good thoughts and get well vibes to all who need/want them. Someone helped me yesterday because I’m feeling much better today -and- more importantly I slept better last night. Thanks to all of you for the good vibes!

Hope everyone enjoys the day, and happy weekend to those already on it!

Oh, LiLi, so sorry about that. Hope his glucose stabilizes soon. Hugs for the whole family.

Up, trying to decide what to do today. Nephew and I are on our own in the middle of the day, but I have to go to the park for a bit at noon. Hmmmm.

Off to find breakfast and caffeine.

Hugs.

Bad night. Lots of blood sugar lows. Up every two hours with Nat and every hour with Tomkitten (who is fine and right now mashing a Larabar into the cat).

Hoping for a better day today.

Happy Firday, y’all!

Sorry about Gnat, LiLi. I sure hope his blood sugar calms down soonest!

Today is officially my 15th anniversary here at work. April Fool’s Day - ha!

VBob - which airport? I need to know whether to face north or south!

George Bush.

Since I’m not currently working as the Bus Guy, as I have for the past 12 years, managing any kind of student transportation, I’m thinking of changing my user name.

Now, I’m in close talks with two different groups, both of which are still in school busing, but still… thinking maybe not tying my identity HERE to that.

So, open to suggestions. A blank slate. An empty room, if you will.

Since when do they name an airport after a living individual?

MissAnnThrope comes to mind . . .

Whoa! Gotta process the idea of a name change for you first, MBG. Let’s think, now: Cuervo, cats in general, da Bears… what else do we know about you?

No park meeting, so nephew and I will have an uninterrupted day. He’s attached to a movie right now, so I guess I should figure out what I’m doing about the centerpiece I need to drop off at church in a bit…

Hugs.

How about Cat-man-do (or doo)

XBusD00d, you could always look here for ideas.
