The Start of The Irk Week MMP

Hello! I had an extra work trip this week that was unplanned. Grrrrrrr. and involved travelling on Sunday. Grrrrrrrrr.

Anyways today has felt like Thursday all day when it was only hump day. Dammit!

Oh well. Steaks for supper! Yum

Schrodinger’s bacteria?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 59 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 68 and a large chance of rain. Now that you know the weather in south Jawja, you may plan your day accordingly.

Other than that I got nuttin’ this mornin’. I’m glad it’s Thursday. Rah.

Now I go in search of more caffiene and brekkie. Rumbly tummy demands to be fed NOW! So, feedin’ time and irk purtification shall commence.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Up and at 'em!

Glad you’re home, mmmmmmmmmmm.

Hope Nat’s doing better today, LiLi.

Hugs.

My current earworm is a medley of Siniestro’s Bailaré sobre tu tumba, There are zombies on your lawn and Cabaret’s Wilkommen.

I think my inner DJ needs to cut down on the caffeine.

Morning all.

We came home last night. Nat’s stable and starting to be normal and ornery. I had nightmares last night about having to go back, but here I am. I’m going to make tea and start dealing with fifteen loads of laundry.

Yay! Glad ya’ll are home and he is better ((((Nat and LiLi))))
Another good suggestion, Kopek, thanks!
I still didn’t finish my kitchen, got wailaid by back cramps. Maybe today.
In other news, we got #^(%!^% snow yesterday: GO THE EFF AWAY WINTER!!!
Hope everyone has a good day.

Blurf. That is all.

I recently got an email telling me I’d be getting the docs needed for my graduation from the translation program in the mail, and the address of the person to contact to update my address if I needed to.

I did update the address.

Of course I now need to update it again. And cancel the phone service.

Blurf indeed.

G’morning all. I had a bad bout with insomnia last night, so have only slept a couple of hours. Needless to say, I’m not going to work today. They tend to frown on employees falling asleep at their desks! :smack:

On top of it all, I appear to have a bit of a stomach bug! Ah well, that too shall pass, hopefully. So looks like it’s tea and toast for me today, and (hopefully!) dozing in bed. So glad to hear that Nat is out of hospital and home, even if he’s getting back to his ornery self. Hugs and good thoughts to the entire Lissar household. Good thoughts going out to Nava too; I hope you’re able to find a good position where the bosses appreciate you more. I’m probably missing a lot of people and events here, but my tummy is still rumbly and my head is hurting too. Forgive me please, I am thinking of all!

And last but certainly not least – tomorrow is FIRDAY!!!

Good morning!

Glad the little one is home, LiLi. Boo for updating paperwork, Nava. Boo for insomnia, Herbs!

And assorted yays and boos to the rest of you as appropriate. I can’t keep up!

I overslept this morning, so I didn’t make it in early to go work out at lunch. I’m sore as hell from yesterday, anyway. My shoulders are the worst. I lost a pound from last week, so that’s good!

C’mon Firday! I wish it was my Firday off, though.

Ever listen to any of the stuff from Midnight Music Syndicate?

(SFW - basically a Goth band who makes music for haunted attractions)

Those cat towers are awesome! I want number 11!

Glad Gnat’s home, LiLi. Hope you can all get some sleep now!

Yay for getting the docs for graduation, Nava! Good luck with everything else.

Hugs to everyone who’s under the weather.

I think I’m getting sucked towards management. I’ve found that I really like standing up for my teammates and taking the lead on projects. I’m helping Manager more and more on her stuff, partly in the hopes that if she can offload enough work to me then she can take over enough of old Director’s work that we don’t need a new director and she can report directly to VP. I really like VP; he’s the one who hired me, and I reported directly to him when I started here. He’s a really good leader, and I like having fewer layers of management between him and us. Since Director’s been gone, we’ve actually been seeing VP again, and I feel like we’re in the loop again. So… I’m stepping up and taking on more and… I feel like it’s inevitable that I’m going to end up managing people sooner rather than later. Maybe that’s a good thing…? I don’t know.

I’ll have to wait until I’m home to check the link, but the description sure seems to go well with the first two. (Forgot to say it before, Bailaré sobre tu tumba = I’ll dance on your grave).
Address has been updated on uni records. I love the lady who does that, she’s fast!
Glad Gnat’s better. diverse get well vibes

Go for it, taxi! The world needs more managers who like what they do and do it well!

I have declared that I’m not cooking tonight. I’m kinda in the mood for Bad Chinese. After that, anything that I don’t have to cook or clean up after.

Anyone see the Daily Show the other night? Apparently Sarah Palin has invented yet another word: squirmish. According to Jon Stewart, this is a fight between worms. Keep ‘em comin’, Sarah!

That’s all I’ve got for now. C’mon, Firday!!!

Dear Rain,

You may stop now. The aquifer is replenished, the streets are flooded, ducks are quacking “enough already!” and that weird guy down the street is building a really big boat in his yard. So, please stop.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Signed,
Wet E Coyote
I hate that whenever it rains like this that someone always says “we need the rain”. We need some rain, we do not need 3 days of torrential downpours with accompanying lightning, because that does not benefit us as most of it runs off to the Gulf or ocean before it can soak through to the aquifer. Yes, I know I told the rain the aquifer is fine in my letter but I was trying to get it to stop.

Thanks for the encouragement. I also keep thinking about something that someone here once said - that good managers find out what is keeping their employees from being as productive as they could be and then they go and remove those obstacles. Then they have productive employees, which makes TPTB happy, and their employees no longer face the frustration of those obstacles, which makes their employees happy. Win win. That sounds like a decent starting point to me. I think I could do that. And I have really good examples here to follow - my manager and VP are really really awesome so if I do the things that they do, I’d be on a pretty good path.

I’m just scared about the personnel issues. I don’t want to have to have the difficult discussions if someone’s not pulling their weight or, worse, if someone has to be fired or, god forbid, if someone has to be told “you need to shower more” or “your clothing choices are inappropriate.” That’s the stuff I’m not ready to deal with.

I haven’t even read anything on the thread for a couple of days. Skimmed, sending rosie’s sig out to all.

I do, however, have a question for the yarny people out there. I’ve been working on a Project Linus blanket and I’ve had to unravel various stripes, recrochet, realize another way to do it, unravel, and finally I just gave up, unravelled the whole thing and started over. Does it ever get to the point you don’t have to unravel the whole damn thing and start over multiple times? I’ve been cross-stitching since I was fourteen and I’ve never reached that point (although I usually realize that pretty early on in the project).

The blanket’s coming along nicely now, though. I finished the first stripe last night. I took a long hard look at the afghan my mom made me and realized a way to make the blanket without having ridges. It was incredibly simple. :smack:-like simple, in fact.

Howdy Y’all! Tonight was soup 'n sammich night again, except at da cave. We had veggie soup with grilled cheese sammiches. I was in the mood for it and OYKW will eat anything set before him. Tomorrow night has been decreed as pizza night. Works for me!

Og help me! “That’s Amore” puns on facebook. I can’t stop!
