The Start of The Irk Week MMP

((((The Lissars)))))

Happy Caturday, everyone!

We were supposed to be in Scotland visiting ‘im indoors’ mother but we didn’t get to make the trip because some thieving scrote burgled the house on Thursday so we’ve been dealing with stuff from that.

Luckily they didn’t take much, but they did steal the safe which contained all the important stuff - cheque books, pass books, passports and foreign currency. All of which can be replaced but it’s the hassle of getting in touch with everyone and cancelling all this stuff. The most annoying bit is the loss of our passports since we’re going abroad in three weeks and it can take that long to replace one.

Even worse, although there is a one-day premium service for passports, you can’t use it for replacement documents so we have to go through the fastest process we can find, which is about two weeks. At the moment I am so full of Teh Grrrrrr…

BooFae, that doth well and truly suck! Hope you get your passports replaced quickly.

**swampy **- are prayer beads like a rosary or just a string of beads? We hung with Episcopalians for a few years and never experienced them.

Up early, thanks Scruffy… It’s overcast, so I could have slept in longer before the sun forced me up. Stoopit dog.

**FCD **is going into work this morning for a few hours, so daughter and I will be tidying before my coworker and his fiancee arrive. No major cleaning, but lots of little things to deal with, plus I want to make a lemon meringue pie. We’ll go to breakfast, then split up at the restaurant and meet back at home eventually.

That’ll be my day. I probably won’t be on line much till tomorrow - probably this time tomorrow when the idiot dog wakes me again. Have a loverly Saturday, anyway…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 49 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 77. Supposed to be sunny with winds out of the NNW which should make for a not too hot time out in da yahd. Right now the grass is all wet but hopefully will dry soon as it’s gettin’ daylight out. I wanna get started soonest.

{{{BooFae and 'im Indoors}}}. Here’s hopin’ the catch the thievin’ SOBs. Also hopin’ y’all can get your passports in time.

I need more caffiene and I suppose I should do sump’n for brekkie. Rumbly tummy is sayin’ “Feed Me!” Think I’ll do some bacon, scrambled aigs with cheese, grits and bizkits. I have some frozen bizkits that go from freezer to oven so that’ll be easy. Plus the smell of bacon fryin’ will awaken OYKW. The smell of fryin’ bacon (I shall be fully clothed thankyouverymuch!) has magical powers.

ETA: MOOOOOOM Prayer Beads are Anglican/Episcopal for Rosary. There are some differences but not so much as someone who’s Catholic wouldn’t pick right up on it. I’ll find a linky later.

It’s me again! I decided to pop back in with the down and dirty quick explanation of Anglican Prayer Beads as described by wikipedia. This will give anybody who’s curious the basics. The Wiki article says developed in the 80s but they’ve been around a lot longer than that. However, the description is accurate and that’s what I was after.

Later Y’all!

Sir Vesa (?)

GT and **Nav **should get that one quickly.
Rebo, I waved, but didn’t have time to post after I did.

Awake. Everyone else is still asleep. Better blood glucose this morning and the okay from his nurse to drop his normal dose to less than half so we don’t have another day of shouting and arguing, trying to get him to eat. We want him to take in enough carbs that he won’t start using his own body tissue for fuel, (and he needs insulin for that) but we don’t want to give him too much insulin and spend a lot of time trying to get him to drink or eat enough to keep his sugars up.

Not really awake yet. Up multiple times in the night to test Gnat. Tea.

Morning all. Up and caffeinating. Hugs to all the Lissars, with special healing vibes to Gnat. Hugs for BooFae & 'Im Indoors; hoping that you’ll be able to replace your passports in enough time.

It’s still quite chilly here! Where the heck is spring?! I want my money back! No real plans for today, but will probably do some cooking and baking for the week ahead. Swampy, thanks for the great info on the Anglican prayer beads - I’m going to maybe check into getting some; I like the meditation idea.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

That really sucks, **BooFae. ** I hope you can get it all sorted and get your passports quickly.

The weather promises to be more of the same; rain, rain, rain. At least they’ve lifted the flood warnings.

Our gang is coming over tonight, so I shall have to clean today. Hubby has promised to go to the store to pick up the ingredients for tonight’s dinner. This helps me immensely.

I’m hoping **Gnat **and the family have a much better day today.

There isn’t much else going on around here. Well, nothing truly interesting anyway.

Note to self: Avoid center of the Nutmeg state

My hell begins in 177 days. Yes, he is counting.

So glad Gnat is doing better

boofae grrrrrrrr:mad: I so hope the passport come through in time.

Today will involve some light chores - dusting, mr ems will vacuum when he is back from getting a haircut and I need to wipe the kitchen down as well as some laundry. Then I am going to go and get my hooves trimmed aka a pedicure this afternoon. I think I will go for slutty red this time as the colour as I currently have slutty purple

**swampy **- thanks for the link and duh to me for not looking at Wiki. So in the same way that the Episcopal church is Catholic Lite, so prayer beads are Rosary Lite - got it!

Daughter and I did a whirlwind clean - she dusted, I vacuumed, she tidied, I cleaned the kitchen, she swept, I cleaned the peed-upon spots, we put in the table leaf and put on the long table cloth. I’ve got eggs out coming to room temp so I can make the lemon meringue pie. **FCD **is on his way home. Guests will be here in a couple of hours. I’ll change my shirt before they arrive and maybe run a comb thru my hair, but that’ll be it.

Sympathies to **Soapy *and The Vorlon for the teen drivers, and boys at that! Mine started learning 10-ish years ago. A few months ago, she got her first car payment - my baby has grown up! * <sniff sniff> You trade the inconvenience of having to drive them everywhere to the panic of them being loose on the public roadways. Oh, the joys of parenthood…

I think I’m in the mood for a puzzle… ta!

This day had such promise and has gone to hell.

Only way to go is up, I guess.

Hugs to LiLi and Gnat, my dad had type I so I know something of what is involved. I have type II, which is much easier to deal with.

Thieves suck BooFey, I hates 'em. They should have everything they own taken away from them and then they should be set down in the middle of the desert. If they make it out alive, they should be flogged with rusty barbed wire.
You might consider getting they kind of safe that bolts to the floor next time, or else do what I do, and don’t keep anything valuable in 'em. It’s easy for me 'cause I don’t have anything valuable.

Just for fun our refrigerator decided to take the piss on the floor last night. It’s a water in the door type. This morning I crawled under the house and turned off the water line that goes up to the fridge. Why the manufacturer couldn’t have spent an extra $0.20 and put a shutoff valve where the water line comes into the back of the fridge, I don’t know. Actually I do know. They suck! Anyway, I hope the water is coming from that water line. Wifey says it’s the compressor. Why she thinks that she is unable to explain. We shall see later on this weekend.

We are at the Public Market again today, trying to sell my soap. Good times!

Rosie’s sig to all, and Rosy, get some rest!

Well, pooh. Just got a call from our dinner guests. They won’t be here till around 5. I was hoping they’d come early and leave early - oh well… It gives me time to slice up the salad veggies.

I just took a beeyooteeful lemon meringue pie out of the oven. It should be especially yum since I squeezed the lemons myself. No bottled lemon juice for this pie.

Other than that, we have a nice clean house, so there’s that.

Aw, what happened?

I’m still in cleaning mode. All I have left to do is to vacuum, scrub the powder room, and wash the downstairs floors (entry, powder room and kitchen). I just got done cleaning and conditioning my leather sofa and loveseat.

Oh, and I still have to shower; I don’t look too pretty right now.

Hubby is off at the store. He’s also going to the butcher shop to see about a femur bone for the dogs. It’s been a long while since they’ve had such a treat.

I’ve also discovered that I’m down to my last four pack of TP, besides what we have in our bathrooms. How do three people go through so much damn TP! I just bought a large pack at the grocery store! I really need to re-up my Costco membership, but I’m too cheap to pay the re-up fee right now. I’ve got other expenses to attend to first.

Well, I better get going before Swampy gets in here and starts wagging his finger at me for goofing off instead of cleaning (just never mind the TP sitch; it’ll be rectified).

Casa de ems is clean and sanitary. Delicious lunch has been eaten. Caught up on some DVR stuf. Buncha laundry done. About to remake the bed with clean sheets then I shall head for my pedicure…

Taters, young lady, have you finished your chores? No? I didn’t think so. March yourself right in there and get that vacuum, mop and bucket out and get busy. The sooner you start the sooner you finish. Don’t give me that look! Do you want your face to freeze like that? When you’re finished, march yourself down to that store and buy more tp. We cannot have this!

Howzzat?

Howdy Y’all! We’s tahrd! Today was weedin’, mowin, edgin, cleanin’ everything off and scrubbin’ down the back porch. It’s all over and dindin (grilled chikin, sallit and friggin’ good N.O.T.) has been consumed. I’s all achified. We had a little nappy poo after we showered cause we needed it. Now it’s chillout time at da cave.

Today’s big excitatement… I was usin’ the hoe to dig out some weeds by the fence and a snake  slithered under the fence right at me! I manned up and killded it with my hoe. It was a little diamondback rattler. I am afeered of snakes. Can’t believe I actually killded it instead or runnin’ away screamin’ SNNNNNAAAAAAAAAKE!!! like I normally do.

I’m traumatized.

What a day.

Avis made my life hell when I got to DC last night, and I didn’t get home until 2 AM. :grrrrrrrr: I will admit that I was the setup of the problem, but they did not handle it well, especially after I tried to proactively fix the problem during the week.

So, today, VWife announces we are going to brekkies, then driving to Waldorf (a DC 'burb) to buy a chair and ottoman. We get a bonus trip to Sam’s Club on the way back. Great.

We ran into Moooooooom and Daaauuuuuuuuu at the local Wally*World on way out of town.

We start driving, and I figured out where I got lost for the third time driving home from the airport a few hours before. We start getting close to the place where the chair was listed, it was near Andrews AFB, which is not Waldorf as I know it. Oh well…

Picked up the chair, and headed to Sam’s. What a mess. I saw less traffic on the San Diego and Riverside Freeways than the highways around Waldorf.

The bonus was when we made the turn into Sam’s, a car full of females barged into my lane from my right, flipping me off because they were all privileged and supposed to be let in, and I wasn’t about to let them get away with it. When I say females, imagine them as ghetto Hispanic, covering just about every associated stereotype there is. So I flipped them back, as did VWife.

That did not sit well with these fine upstanding bible school students, who got ahead of me, then proceeded to lead the way into the lot at 5 miles an hour. Just before I took a turn into an arbitrary parking row, one of them even flashed a knife at me. Sorry, hon, the blade in my pocket is bigger than that and I know how to use it should there be a serious threat. BTW, I hope y’all have your green card with you. Putas.

I was so upset by the encounter that when I got home, I took a nap and then ordered pizza for dinner.

Dinner was good, guests have gone, and I’ve got a sore throat. Boo. But the lemon meringue pie was quite yum - even daughter said so. And coworker, who said he didn’t really like lemon pie, had 2 slices. His fiancee was very quiet, but very nice.

I think tonight will be a Dexter night.

Sure hope this sore throat doesn’t become something worse… :frowning:

MOOOOOOM healin’ vibes/anti sore throat thoughts headed your way.

BBBobbio a knife fight in the parkin’ lot of Sam’s. Impressive! :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a pork roast slow cookin’ away. I shall take it to the church house tomorrow as it’s brunch Sunday. I shall chip it up, sauce it and take bbq buns because it shall be bbq pork sammiches. I’m in the mood for some and I figure it to be a different thing to take to Sunday brunch. I bet it all gets eaten. BBQ pork sammiches be big around heah.
