Here’s some of my polymer clay beadwork - not very good yet, but I’m learning and improving as I go along.
Very nice pictures! That frog is killin’ me! People sometimes point and laugh about Wisconsin and Illinois (all flat and midwesterny), but I’ll tell ya…it doesn’t get any prettier than that, does it?
SCL, nice beads! I’m thinking about incorporating polymer clay stands into my gourd work. Is there much shrinkage? Also, is there a limit to how thick the clay can be?
Kalhoun, I haven’t done much with the clay other than the beads, so I haven’t noticed much shrinkage - there is a tiny amount. The clay includes instructions for baking - usually a certain amount of time per quarter inch of thickness. The clay is cheap, so it wouldn’t be expensive to get some and experiment.
This is a link to a website with a lot of information on polymer clay - I hope you find some useful information there.
I love your gourds!
Thanks!
And thanks for the link. There’s a lot of good information there. They don’t say there’s a limit on the thickness, so I’m going to assume I can go as thick as I need to. I think I’m just going to have to go for it. I’ll experiment and report back on the results (YIKES!).
Or uglier, unless you’re a frog (actually, I think it’s a toad, but what’s a wart or two among friends?
Here are some of the toons I have done.
I’m bad about giving away anything I make, before I get a chance to take a picture.
Kalhoun Re: the polymer clay stands:
I’ve used clay to make stands for things like mosaic spheres, and candles. I started using the original Super Sculpey because it’s paintable and comes in bulk. It worked great as long as the piece wasn’t too intricate. I tried doing a filigree piece, and as it was baking, the smaller pieces fell off. But for stability on detailed pieces I use the Sculpey3 or similar brands of colored clay.
Probably NSFW.
Here are some figures that I have done in my drawing class. Each one was done in class in about 2-2.5 hours, except the pink reclining female, and the green and red sitting female, which were done in one session. They don’t look so harsh in real life, but I photographed them in dim light and then tried to lighten and up the contrast in photoshop.
Well, I’ve had a deviantart page for about a month—mostly fanart, some photoshops.
And then, naturally, there’s all my flight simulator stuff, which I’d like to consider kind of an art. (The “gas-guzzling deathtrap that blows things up” kind of art, anyway.)
Good to know! I’m planning on making them very simple so it sounds like it would work out just fine. Now I have to get my lazy self to the craft store!
You all are amazing. I am in awe at your collective talents. Gosh.
I don’t draw as much as I used to but every once in a while I pick up a pencil.
There’s really not that much of my work online 'coz I never got into the deviantART scene. Though that’s partly due to the fact that I don’t have a scanner or tablet and photographing drawings is a bit of a bitch, IMO.
So, here’s a portrait of Ryence, an original character from a fanfic I drew upon request.
And here is Ms. Heather Mason, the protagonist of Silent Hill 3.
The former was done about three months ago and I can’t remember when did the latter.
I wish I could get around to drawing more often.
I am going to jump in.
Jigsaw Wooden puzzle Picture I designed, buit and finished.
I designed and built a working Night Table Light in the shape of a lighthouse.
Some other projects I have done, mostly toys for my kids.
My next project is to design and built a wooden castle that can be redesigned by the kids into several configurations. It should be fun.

Awesome. It’s all very good (f’rinstance, I really would love to have the 5x7 Mr Toad), but the faerie specimens are awesome.
Well, I’m another one trying to leave behind snapshot taking and start photographing, so here are some of what I consider my better efforts:
But I think they’re pretty amateur. There’s more there than the ones I’ve tagged, but not many, and not very good. Also, my Flickr account has nowhere near as many pictures as I’ve taken. I just pulled my photo file here on the PC and it’s around 3600 pictures. Absurd camera phone and small digital camera’ll do that. However, I don’t consider many of them worth the time to upload.
Since guppy broke the barrier to music, here are some MP3 selections of mine (note to mods: I own all the publishing and performing rights to these, so linking isn’t a problem!):
200 Years, written for the last bicentennial by Greg Williams and myself, performed by Charlyn Maybe and the Chateau Klump Volunteers, which were mostly me, except for Charlyn. We plan to dust it off in about 70 more years, add about hundred years or so to the title and try for a hit again.
Jul05, instrumental with a date, yet without a name. Anybody want to name it?
Jolly, just a bit of fluff to clap to, nothing more.
I totally forgot about posting here! Ahh!
Anyhow, here are some attempts to digitally record my efforts at miniature painting. I have to declare that the lighting was not the best and they actually look better than the photos would have you believe.

And from the other side
Yes, a LOT of free time on my hands…
What a cool thread! I love looking at everyone’s artwork. Holy crap, ya’ll are a talented bunch!
OK, here’s some of mine: brooches made from my handmade felt. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but these are all about 3" at their widest or tallest dimension.
Geez, I thought I’d killed this thread before anyone saw my work. Well, not while I have something to do about it!
