The Straight Dope has entertained me for 12 hours straight....

What’s the longest period of time you have spent reading the Straight Dope message boards?

Today, I was given the most miserably boring job possible. Mission: Staple, and fold 1800 pieces of letters, each 3 pages each. Refusal is not an option. So while stapling and stapling letters, I surf the Straight Dope Message Board at the same time. And times flies. Soon its was 5pm and time to go home.

(And yes, the 1800 letters are duly stapled and folded).

Yeah, but are the pages in the right order?

I’ve never counted the number of hours I spend on the SDMB at one time, but my record is probably about four hours.

Probably only two hours at the most. Yeah, I’m a wussy-doper.

Usually on the weekend I’m off and on the board all day - 14-16 hours.

Yes, I have no life.

Eight hours per day, Monday - Friday (with short breaks every few days to do a bit of work).

When I first discovered the SDMB, about 15 hours each day for 3 days straight.
I just happened to have nothing to do at work and no option of going home. My boss basically told me to do whatever I wanted just as long as I was around if my phone rang or an order came in. So, I read every new thread I could find and then started reading older threads. Every time someone linked to another thread, I followed the link. I stopped just long enough to drive home at 5:00 and then went right back to reading. I only stopped when I my fiancee came home from work around 10 PM. I got up early to read before I went to work.
About a week later, I got a stronger prescription in my glasses. I wonder if it was just a coincidence…

Since then, my record is probably only about 8 hours per day on a boring weekend and maybe 4 per day during the work week.

I know I’ve been on here since 8:30, and I have paperwork to do before bed tonight. This is pretty normal.

My longest is probably around 8-9 hours, when I have enough backlog to stay home and type for a full day’s work, and I commit half my mind to the task, half to the boards.
