The sure sign of Spring MMP

That was a seriously bad tornado flytrap.

I survived a conference call. I’m here in shorts and a tshirt bein’ all adult and responsible. I am actually irkin’. People are supposed to be loggin’ in and takin’ tests and online course thingys for irk certification. I’m checkin’ up on folks today to see if’n it’s been happenin’. Looks like da bear will need to be assignin’ deadlines for a buncha folks. Again. I swear people don’t think I can know whether or not this happens. It is, however, ever so easy to see what has and has not been done.

No doubt I’ll be called mean again before the week is out.
-swampbear (once and future meanie)

Prayers to the folks in AR, including CP; tornadoes are just all around bad news. :frowning: Keep safe, all!

Signs of Spring in NM apparently include blustery (and I mean BLUSTERY!) winds, especially when they blow dirt/trash/pollen, etc. all over the place. People who have breathing problems are advised to stay indoors. Heck, everyone is advised to stay in! The early spring flowers, trees and bushes have bloomed already and most of the trees have leaves. Temps this week are more moderate - we’ve already had several 80 degree days. :dubious:

Rosie, good luck with the packing and the move; I totally sympathsize with you. FCM, does Higgs not like taking baths?! LOL

My brother was up in Yosemite over the weekend - there was snow there! The park was also -packed- (they had lunch on the veranda, which of course was a bit on the chilly side, because there was a 1 hour wait for a table indoors!). Snow is apparently -not- a deterrent, at least in the spring time. He really got some nice pics, especially of the mountain tops enveloped in fog/clouds.

Happy Monday all!

Here the first signs of spring have come and gone, and the temperatures are supposed to be more like summer later this week. I see much weeding and the like in my very near future.

I have never seen a tick, let alone had to remove one from my self. shudder

Mooom I don’t remember how old Higgs is, but in my experience with the pomeranians it takes the toy breeds a while longer to both grow up their bladder a bit as well as learn to sleep through the night than it does the bigger dogs.

rosie you are in my thoughts, if I never have to move again I will die a happy woman.

I am still dealing with the aftermath of my mom’s passing last July. sigh I can easily say that in the last five years I have certainly found out who my real family and friends are, and the list is short. I am so ready to be done with the crying . . .

However, the garden is awake, the birds have returned, and I am determined to have a happy season.

So, happy Moanday all y’all, I hope that everyone is safe, healthy and has a reason to smile.

There I was, fresh outta the shower, and I looked into the mirror to start shaving. I spotted a dark spot on my shoulder that looked like a small scab. So, I picked it and felt AND heard a tell tale pop as I pulled it off. I took a closer look, and, day-um, the scab had legs. Then I washed down the sink and continued to shave.

It was a dog tick, which are bigger than the Lyme carrying deer ticks. It also hadn’t been latched on long enough to start gorging.

Honestly, I don’t know how she reacts to baths. **FCD **takes care of that, but he won’t be home till Weds night, and she stinks NOW! I know he puts her in the deep sink in the basement, which keeps her contained. I need to call and find out which dog shampoo he uses - we have several and I know he bought one that the vet recommended.

**kai **- sometimes she will sleep thru the night just fine. I think the main problem is that I don’t play with her like my sweetie does, so she doesn’t get as tired out. When we’re both working outside all day and she’s with us, she crashes solidly - I’ve had to get her up myself at least once. And, frankly, I’m pretty sure she’s doing this now just to piss me off!!! Stoopit dog.

I bought and spread 200# of pelletized lime. Here’s hoping it helps the yard. It’s very overcast and chilly - rain is approaching fast according to the radar. I’m going to do a little tidying, then make a Netflix afternoon of it. Because I can.

N.O.L.time! I’ve had some leftovers from yestiddy. I also mixed up the ground beast and seasoned it for tacos tonight. I even have soft and hard taco shells. Go Me!

Ok, back to findin’ ways to get called mean.

BBBobio bugs are eww, and bugs that are able to attach like that? I would be hollerin’ like nobody’s business for someone to GET IT OFF!!! Thanks for the hugs my friend, they are much appreciated.

Mooom it is true that a good bit of play before bed helps tire them out, Satine gets a rousing game of Find the Elephant* every night, and at 10 years old you would think she would just be glad to get into bed! lol Since moving to thins house with the huge, fenced backyard the pommies tire themselves out regularly. They are also not fans of The Bath, but at 4 - 5 lbs it’s really not much of an issue. :stuck_out_tongue:

btw, I am not a fan of the new smilies.

I mentioned the new mouse (now mice) a while back, but I think I was misunderstood. The first was a young female albino destined for daughter #3’s snake, but they put her holding cell next to my chair, and after an hour or so I just could not allow the poor little thing to go and, after a time of terror, be squeezed to death, so I made an executive decision and named her Miss Scarlett. A suitor (and appropriate homes, bedding, food, treats, water bottles, etc.) were soon purchased, he is a pretty little brown guy, and you know his name is Rhett, right? So, the rest of my executive decision was that, with the ability to breed the wee ones, why pay up to $20.00 a month for dead mice? I will not be involved in the putting down of the offspring, (as it turns out, Crona, the ball python, prefers her food already deceased) and I have a couple of cute meeses to keep me company in my new office/sewing/craft room.

Ah, here is my coffee!

*The Elephant is Satine’s favorite toy, my mom gave it to her for Christmas 2013. sniff

My neighbor in Pirateville told me the story once of how he got a tick in a place no man should ever get a tick. I will say no more so as not to offend the delicate sensibilities of any men in the room.

I just found out why my landlady wouldn’t renew me. I got an earful, complete with a bunch of F-bombs, from the woman who live below. Apparently she was “instrumental” (her words) in kicking me out. I “bang” on the floor (with my crutch) which sets off her smoke detector. And all my stomping around is “killing” her. :: old green rolleyes smilie ::

Whew. Been a busy coupla weeks, I think I missed the MMP entirely last week.

Apparently, my new springtime sign is allergies. I have never had them before, but last week I thought I was getting sick because my sinuses were filling up. It hasn’t progressed beyond that–nothing’s moved down into my chest, my teeth don’t hurt … just a solid, constant leaking from my left nostril and a whole lot of sneezing, which I don’t do when I’m actually sick. The interwebs tell me the pollen’s been super-bad the last couple days, and plenty of people who have never had allergies before are having a hard time this week. I just hope this isn’t something that happens every year from now on. Because it sucks.

We had an open house on the bell tower yesterday, so I’m hoping to hear about some interested parties over the next couple days. This is my last week at my job, and I’m looking forward to a week of relaxation followed by all the moving garbage that still has to be done. Alas, much of it still can’t be done until we know when we’re moving.

Rosie, if I could help you, I would, because I just want to move already. Moving somebody else would at least make me slightly less jittery about it.

I hope you get a chance to demonstrate what it sounds like if someone is *trying *make noise. Preferably in the wee hours of the morning.
:dubious:
Who the hell do I know in Fresno, CA who would text me, “Are you ok?”

I suggest the moving crew start around 0200.

Think of all the fun people have after Nude Hiking Day on the Appalachian Trail…

Moving fee: $1,500.00
Overtime for 2:00 AM : $500.00
Sound of downstairs choking to death on her own bile: Priceless.

That’s my plan.

Nah. I need to be coherent in order to supervise and I won’t be at that hour.
Nice across-the-hall neighbor just told me that that woman treats everyone like that, which makes me feel a whole lot better.

Higgs is now clean and sweet-smelling. I am in a clean, dry t-shirt. My hands smell like oatmeal dog shampoo.

And I do not like ticks. At all. ick ick ick ick ick ick ick!!!

I’m certain that if I treated a tenant in that manner, I’d be bricked under the jail.

It’s all cloudy out but it’s not supposed to rain until tomorrow. So, of course, I will be going to start somebody new up in the north forty tomorrow afternoon. I wish I could have arranged it for today. However, tomorrow it must be. Expect an Ark worthy deluge around one o’clock tomorrow afternoon in southwest Jawja. That’s when I’ll be on the road.

In other news, I have accomplished a bunch today. So much I may even call it a day around three.

Didn’t one of you create a facebook page for your freelance writing business? I can’t recall who that was and need to ask that person a question.

I tried to deal with multiple government websites today and got nowhere with them. Fuck it all.

If I hadn’t given up alcohol, I’d go to the nearest corner store right now and buy the biggest bottle of wine…

Damn it.
