I only noticed this the other day. When you go into a forum, it automatically filters the threads by “all tags.”
The problem is that not all threads are tagged. “All tags” is a set of threads which have at least one tag. “No-tags” is a separate set of threads which have zero tags. The two sets do not overlap, and so you can never see all threads at once.
To make matters more confusing, the problem is inconsistent in private mode, which I checked to see what a visitor would see. In FQ, the two filters returned the same set of threads (as opposed to the screenshot example below). But in Cafe Society, the problem persists even in a private window.
This means visitors may get the impression that the site is much less active than it actually is.
So this is feedback about a problem, but also a warning to all users that depending on how you use the boards you may be missing lots of new threads. I know I’ve been.
Is there a way to set the board to default to showing all threads regardless of whether or not they’re tagged?
ETA: just to add to the confusion, I’ve now also noticed that threads you’re tracking will show up in both sets of filters.
In the All Tag list please scroll done to when the threads are about 3hrs old and you should see the Panto’s thread. That is first for the no tags list.
The ‘all tags’ address is, about-this-message-board/8
The ‘no tags’ address is, about-this-message-board/8/none
The forum address is, about-this-message-board/8
So, I conclude, ‘no tags’ is also the default view.
