The tell someone you love them MMP
kanga check out the closet VA Hospital. A lot of 'em have AD wings for vets.

I had to read that a coupla’ times to get the joke.
And here I am, thinking I;ve been working to long as I was wondering what an Active Directory wing at a hospital would be like.

When life gives you proprietary battery backups, make…

Lithium-ion lemonade probably tastes nasty and is likely inflammable, so more likely, I’ll make space in the garage to store it.

I make a dang good chikin pot pie if’n I so say so myself. Plus leftovers for dindin tomorrow! YAY!!!

kanga my next door neighbor placed her husband in an AD ward at a VA Hospital. She says he’s treated very well although she does not like the way they wash his clothes so she does his laundry. The downside of it is the hospital is about 125 miles one way but she goes every Saturday to see him and bring his laundry. So, maybe y’all will find a good one.

Har! Closet VA! Although I have met this VA Rep who comes into the Career Center (where my office is located) twice a week who might qualify. Just sayin’.

Our chickie pot pie was pretty good, but I forgot the celery. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow for me. Yay!

And on that note, I’m going to log off and knit the evening away. So MWAH!

I’ve had a couple of beerverages. I think they’re better than the knock out sinus meds.

There’s a facility nearby that has a dedicated AD unit in assisted living. It’s secure, provides all meals, socializing, and such. I filled out a form on their website, and they called Mom today. Turns out, VA will pay up to $2K in benefits per month for Dad to stay in assisted living. I thought this was great news, but Mom’s acting like that means she’ll only have to sell her hair and half her teeth as opposed to all of them.

I really am ready to throw a fit at my mom. We all agree Dad needs placement. We can’t take care of him anymore, especially because he’s so hostile and combative. It’s a necessary cost. We will find all the financial aid owed to him, but it’s got to be done. So stop fucking whining about it and do it.

Oh, and Dad no longer looks at me. sigh

kanga do you have any idea of what the cost of assisted living is per month? 2k is a good chunk of change and surely there are other VA benefits due your dad. Also, does this VA have a unit where your dad can go when assisted living is no longer viable? I’m not tryin’ to rain on you but we all know AD can cause a person to get to the point where total care is needed which is more than what my understanding of assisted living does.

My neighbor says that VA has covered every bit of her husband’s care and he’s been there for almost four years. She’s never gotten a bill and still gets his benefits check each month. Things may not be as bad as your mom thinks they would be.

Goin’ nitey nite! Sleep good Y’all!

I do still exist contrary to rumor.

Still here, too.
{{{{{{{{{{{{MMP}}}}}}}}}}}}} I wish I could do more than e-hug, though.

Hugs to everyone, especially those who need it the most.

Watched basketball. Sad that Wisconsin and Michigan State both lost. Wisconsin played REALLY well and came ever so close. Michigan State didn’t play nearly as well as they should have. So, boo. But had yummy tortilla soup and spinach salad and then a margarita for dessert, so there’s that.

Long, tiring day. Is it Firday yet?

Hugs.

GT

So did I :stuck_out_tongue:

(((Soapy))) Hang in there, honey.
also, (((Roo))) you too.

Our pot pie turned out well, too & There’ll be leftovers for PB & Ma for N.O.L. tomorrow. I’m going out for N.O.L. , as aforesaid. That means more cleaning before bed.

{{{{{{{{Soapy}}}}}}}}}} - You are in my thoughts and prayers, and have been. My mom was in hospice, at home, in 2003.

Came through the cataract surgery okay! I am right now looking through my operated-on eye, even though it’s still supposed to be covered. LOL I looked like Basil in the Brenda Starr comic strip! Except I’m a female. Eyedrops every two hours, and then visit the surgeon tomorrow so he can check it out, then another visit in a week, and finally a visit to the optomitrist to check my new vision. Woo hoo! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, too. They definitely helped!!

Thinking of you too, Rosie and wishing there was something I could do to help, but will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and send “hire her back” vibes to your HR dept. And thinking of you too, 2gig - at least that chapter is now closed. Hopefully.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Firday - it is, isn’t it?! LOL I forget sometimes now! d&r

That’s what I keep trying to tell her! A book I checked at the library put assisted livin costs at $36K a year, which means about $1K per month for us, which hurts, but is doable, especially if I can go and get a full time job with benefits. The average for the state is far lower, but for a nearby - admittedly much richer town - much higher. We have a Monday appointment to view a facility in town that has an Alzheimer’s unit in their assisted living, and they care for their residents all the way through hospice to death. There would be no need to move Dad to a nursing home.

There is a nearby VA hospital in San Diego, but it doesn’t list an Alzheimer’s unit. It does list something called “geropsychiatry”, which I’ve never encountered before. From the short entry in Wikipedia, I can infer that Alzheimer’s is included. But they may not want to take him as a patient full time until he’s even further gone. I don’t know.

I am pretty sure at this point that we’ll need to sit down with a VA benefits analyst and find out what can be done.

I’m in a sort of “temp to hire” position; four month contract, but my contract with the agency doesn’t have the usual “negotiating directly with the final client is thoroughly forbidden and if thee doest it, thee shall pay with both of thine eyes, thine tongue and all thine internal organs, extracted slowly by means of a rusty teaspoon” because if the client likes me they want to get rid of the intermediaries. I’ve been here for one month.

After a meeting to review some docs, my boss’ boss has asked him back, they’ve crossed a couple of sentences and they’ve called me back in. Big boss asked for the exact date my contract ends, because they “want to work with me”.

happy dance

kanga, “gero-” just means “aged”. “Geropsychiatry” is doctorspeak for “dementia of any origins, as well as treating such things as depression in elderly patients with special care to remember who we’re speaking to, as you can’t tell the same things to someone who’s 80 and whose only child died in a car crash as to someone who’s 18 and anxious about college”. My BFF is the medical manager of an assisted living facility (from fully independent little houses to an ICU) and hates it when people call their geropsychiatry unit “the Alzheimer’s unit”.

Up way too early yet again - I awoke a bit after 4 and that was that. **FCD **is off to work, I’ve dressed, cleaned the kitchen, including scrubbing both sinks, and I’m currently caffeinating.

There’s a beep in my kitchen. I can’t locate it. At first, I thought one of the smoke alarms was dying, but I’ve stood under each and the sound definitely comes from a section of the kitchen. It seems to move, too, but it’s not a critter - it’s electronic. I called my spousal unit - he didn’t do anything. I’ll face where I think it’s coming from, but then it seems to be in another spot, so I turn and stand, and it seems to be from somewhere else. grrrrrrrrrrrr

Before it gets too hot today, I’m going to move some plants around and maybe get some peony bulbs planted. Rain is forecast all weekend, so no need to run the sprinklers. I should also do some laundry. And run the vacuum. Housework sucks.

Fingers crossed for Nava!

Happy Firday anyway!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a warmish 66 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 83 and tstorms this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow.

Nava appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for ya.

kanga that’s a good idea to meet with a benefits analyst. Here’s hopin’ the place y’all look at is one that will suit your needs.

MOOOOOOM beeps of unknown origin drive me crazy! Hope you find it soon.

I said yestiddy that there’s leftover chikin pot pie for dindin tonight. I forgot that tonight is fish 'n chips at the church house, preceeded by Stations of The Cross. I am the fries chef, so dindin will be fish 'n chips and coleslaw which is always good.

Now, I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. It is Firday so it’s a shorter day in the office so I take comfort in that.

Happy Firday Y’all!

kanga, like I keep telling Culinary Boy, the VA exists for a reason and if you qualify you should take advantage of their benefits. If you served in a war, you should take the hell of an advantage of their benefits. (Of course our current VA benefit argument is Go To A Chiropractor )
Hang on MMP, let me direct a forklift in here.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

whirrrrrrrrr

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

And for your morning appropriate music: MST3K Forklift Song

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

The beep goes on… I’ve gotten a tall stepstool and looked on top of the fridge and the wall cabinets as well as I could - I can’t see a thing! I think I need a mirror to inspect the areas I can’t see. I went so far as to take down the smoke alarm in the family room - it didn’t even have a battery in it! That’s useful…

I’ve unplugged all appliances or pushed buttons on the ones I know will beep - nothing, plus the beeps sound different. It still seems to move. Maybe I need to start looking for a hidden camera. Lessee, **BBBobbio **is the closest Mumper and he knows where I live - could he be responsible??? :dubious:

Check for a dying cell phone in a purse, my guess. It would move as you move the bag around.
