The temperature's going to be WHAT?

That large body of salt water just down the street tends to moderate the temperature here. I was outside earlier, and it was 56ºF. Sure, it was a little wet; but it felt balmy. Thanksgiving Day is expected to be 54º with an 80% chance of rain. Nothing to see here. Friday it’s supposed to be ten degrees cooler. 44º and raining (40% chance) is about normal for this time of year. But what’s that low? 26ºF? That’s almost 20º cooler than tonight’s low. I wonder how Saturday will be?

26ºF for a high temperature? And 18º for the low?

Weather-dot-com may have some sort of error. Let me check Weatherunderground. 24º/17º. And it’s supposed to be partly cloudy. Clouds are supposed to keep the heat in! Good thing we have a nice stack of wood next to the fireplace, and some more dry wood just outside the back door, and almost half a cord under a tarp just off the patio.

Yes, yes, I know. 24º/17º isn’t that cold. It’s just weird that it would drop 20 degrees when we have cloud cover.

The high in L.A. was 87 today. Just sayin’.

Yeah, that’s one of the reasons I moved away from my native land.

It has been getting down to a shivery 70 degrees at night a few times lately here in the Dominican Republic. Had to leave the fan off for a couple of nights last week.

The jet stream is pushing a system our way here in the PNW. We’re going to have the same types of temps, going from 62 yesterday to the 40s, and dropping below freezing at night.

Today I was walking around without a coat, and Saturday it might snow here south of Seattle. It really is weird for this area.

70° in Denver the next three days. But it was -15° a few weeks ago.

It was 45º in areas of Sydney on Sunday. Hottest November day on record.

That’s Celsius of course.

Typical July day when I lived in the Mojave Desert!

(Of course, it was a dry heat.)

The weather on my cell phone the other day said it was 66 degrees “feels like 87”. Yeah, I think that was wrong.
Not the 66 part, the “feels like 87” part.

So’s the oven.

Highs in the low 90’s here in L.A. for the next few days. I hate heat (thanks a lot, menopause) and somehow the hot, dry, Santa Ana windy, low sun fall weather almost feels worse than the summer heat. The angle of the sun is wrong, my allergies are on high alert, and the office AC is set too cold to combat the low bright sun coming in the window of the conference room. I would welcome rain, but we’re in a drought so I’m out of luck.

Pff. Saturday’s low here is supposed to be -8 degrees F. No whining, you bunch of lotus-eaters.

Johnny, I feel’s for ya …

We’ve had a 25 degree drop over 36 hours. The overnight low 2 days ago was 25 warmer than it is now at 11am under cloudless skies.

And we too have a large saltwater heat-sink/heat-store at the end of the block.

Then again, that overnight low was 79 & it’s 54 now, so we’re not suffering *too *grievously. Normal for this time of year here is about halfway between those extremes.

For very small values of “extreme”

Highs in the 80’s, lows in the 60’s here in the Yucatan Peninsula. Last night I slept with a long sleeve, thermal shirt on. But then, I sleep in a hammock. They are pretty airy!

We’ve been having typical New England craziness, from around 60 and muggy around the clock to sudden drops, freezing rain and snow. I have a pile of clothes I’ve worn for an hour or two ranging from shorts and a t-shirt to lined jeans and flannel shirts, doubled for sleep clothes. It’s exasperating to try and outguess the day, then have to change one or more times to accommodate.

You mean, somebody forced you away from our perfect weather?

Johnny, 60 here in Port Townsend at the kid’s Tday dinner- and yes, I see they are thinking snow for Quil Saturday!!
I’m always grateful to be living here. The range is still pretty narrow compared to New England, where I spent most of the early years. I make the LA relatives come here

It’s snowing.

Looks like about half an inch in the past hour.

Get out your chains and at least three of your little Sveas;)
