Can the supremes even do that? Cast a spell and poof Obamacare out of existence? I thought there had to be a case specific to what they want to change and take their chances with that.
Dadtheinhaler, I have been directed by Discourse to welcome you to our community! But I was going to anyway, because your username is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh!
So trump, in an interview with Hannity, says AGAIN “if we didn’t do testing, we’d have no cases”. This is at least the fourth time he’s said this incredibly stupid thing in public. And when asked what his priorities were for a second term, his non-answer was pure gibberish. Transcript of the question and answer here:
Was it really necessary to use that particular term?
At this point, you know the board has had issues with misogyny, so this comes across rather poorly, regardless of how terrible the person in question is.
If my understanding of UK English is correct, the ‘c’ word is not really considered any worse than “bitch” in the UK or Australia. We refer to men as “pricks,” so I don’t see why that reference should necessarily be any worse than bytch for females. I don’t think merely using the word makes one misogynistic.
Yeah, we wouldn’t have any cases because hospitalizations and deaths don’t count.
What’s awful is that millions of his shitty fans believe the same.
Because of the way Trump words these idiotic thoughts, I suspect that some of his fans are stupid enough to believe that getting tested may make one sick.
He didn’t even TRY to anser that question!
Wow. I never thought of that. You’re probably right.
You seem to be giving him credit for intentionally dodging a difficult question. In reality, he probably forgot he was even answering a question (which was a total softball, btw) within 1.7 seconds of hearing it, and simply let his tongue and mouth form words randomly as scattered thoughts rattled around in his brain.
“If we didn’t do so much testing, we wouldn’t have so many cases” ergo…
Re: Trump administration asks Supreme Court to invalidate Obamacare
Besides being horrible in itself, this seems like a tone-deaf action, even from Trump’s perspective. Many of his 2016 voters are NOT in the mood right now for anything resembling a decrease in access (for some) to health care.
That requires them to recognize that invalidating Obamacare will reduce their access to healthcare. I doubt they will make that connection.
It is my understanding that Siam_Sam is American by upbringing and uses words in that context, so this is entirely irrelevant.
Some people don’t think merely using the word n***** makes one racist.
There are several words one can use to describe McEnany or her boss. People find creative ways to describe Donald Trump that aren’t particular to his dangly bits They can and should extend her the same favor.
It sounds like now they’re arguing that only the states filing the suit should get the “benefit” of having the ACA completely cancelled. So it’s not bad enough to live in a state without the Medicaid expansion! Now you get to have NONE of the other few provisions either, like preexisting conditions! Wahoo free-dumb!!
I’m not sure how it is constitutional to decide that the ACA is unconstitutional but only the fucking states that got it declared unconstitutional “get” to abolish it.
That’s actually okay with me.
It sucks for the people that live in those states, but it may motivate them to vote in a better government.
Meanwhile, it reduces the amount that blue states need to subsidize the red states by.
You are aware that “blue” states and “red” states are part of the same country, right?
Please let me add my welcome to the forum!
They do have a case before them. Two of them, actually. Previously they had been postponed for hearing in the fall, with rulings to come after the election. (How conveeeenient.)
@Skypist, I think the SCOTUS is either going to uphold the ACA in full or rule it wholly unconstitutional. I don’t think they’re going to rule that a law is sorta constitutional.
ETA: Here’s a good summary:
I am pretty confident that Trump himself believes this. He keeps saying that testing causes cases of covid. I really do think he believes that if we stop testing then the disease will vanish.
Keep your damn government Obamacare paws out of the health care exchanges!
