The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

There truly is one of these for every single thing Trump has done.

I’m SCARED about being an American at this point, not just ashamed.

I want to fucking know what the fuck is going to fucking happen to us right the fuck now. I’m tired of living on tenterhooks every day, waiting to see how trump is going cause harm next. I don’t WANT to wait for 100 million years for some idiot judge somewhere to fucking decide whether these useless executive orders are legal or not. I don’t WANT my employer (if I even have one in a couple of months) to give me a couple of extra bucks a month and then find out I owe $1000 in April or whatever.

Yeah, me too. Things are bad. I want them better but I haven’t a clue what I can do that I haven’t already done. It feels like spitting into the wind.

Same here! I’m pretty pissed at Congress right now for doing absolutely nothing for three weeks. All the partisan bullshit. Maybe we should surround each home of a rep and tell them they’re quarantined until they get on fucking Zoom or whatever and get a Covid package going right fucking now.

This article focuses on jobs, but the underlying symptom and cause (“uncertainty is the only real certainty”) is present in much of everyday life here in America. People have noticed, which is good, because IMO it isn’t healthy to live like this:

Stay strong, friends.

Yeah. Congress is just sitting, silently staring into the distance with drool forming at the corner of its collective mouth while trump takes over the country with an iron fist of doom. Congress will probably not even pass any more COVID relief legislation now because we’ve got these fucking executive orders that are supposed to fix everything.

I don’t understand what we’re supposed to DO. Trump is being allowed to run wild. I can call my congress persons but I don’t think they’re going to do anything about it.

I’m more worried about Trump getting re-elected than COVID. He and repubs have only started with the theft of the election. Make no mistake they are gonna fuck with everything. They continue to show that they will do anything to get their way. Legal? Doesn’t matter. Not at all.

I don’t know that we can blame congress for this.

Pelosi has pushed and passed a number of bills that I think would be beneficial.

It is the actions of one man, backed by his party, that are to blame.

Me too. I’m afraid of COVID and we need relief legislation for it, but yeah trump and the GOP installing themselves as Rulers for Life (and there being apparently no one who can check them) is even more terrifying.

I totally agree. It’s def the GOP doing this. However, it has just brought it to the fore that our checks and balances are too weak.

Yes, we can’t fall into the “they’re all bastards–both sides do it!” trap. The House has been working, but Unca Mitch has the entire Senate by the balls and he won’t allow anything to move forward. It really IS the Republicans’ fault. Seriously.

Our system doesn’t allow for widespread corruption on one side when the other side is still law-abiding.

His approval rating is up a point in the past week. I have been, and still am, pretty confident he will lose the election. But fuck, he may not. At this point, there literally seems to be nothing that can cause his rating to go down.

Day after day I check the news and see his latest idiocy and think, finally, this is the one that will end him. And it keeps not happening.

Remember that he is NOT going to win this election on popular votes. I cited an article recently that said he could lose the popular vote by FIVE MILLION and still win with the right combo of Electoral College state votes.

He’s going to win by dirty tricks-- no need to enumerate what’s been said over and over in this thread and elsewhere. His popularity is mostly irrelevant at this point.

I check this pretty religiously too. I suspect ass kids go back to school, and covid spikes as a result, and kids and teachers die, and parents struggle with doing school and working, and people start watching summer go bye-bye with no end to this economic and pandemic mess in sight, and people actually start paying real attention to the news after their summer distractions are over… things will begin to look more grim I suspect.

Trump’s hovering at 41-42%. That’s his base, plus maybe a few low-info airheads who only get their info about how things are going for their family from their daily stock report and/or morning drive-time DJs. I suspect he’ll begin to dip into the 30s come September.

You are right. These polls are national polls of his overall approval rating. I just keep hoping that, as he keeps getting dumber and dumber, that at least a few percentage of people will realize it. But it is not going to happen. If his approval rating in ___ state, I don’t want to single out one, is still 80% now, it will always be that. There is literally nothing that will wake these idiots up.

Hovering, no, he has been below 42% for over 2 months. The short-term trend since he peaked at -3.9% in late March (last time disapproval dropped below the midline) has been negative. There is noise in the line, but it is currently showing little sign of getting worse (as in, better for him). He was at -15% a few days ago and I am pretty confident that by the end of August he will be closer to -17% than to the -13.3 that he is now. Obama was in positive territory at this point and rising – ShitGibbon is not showing signs of improvement.

I keep telling myself that his base, people who will vote for any Republican over any Democrat, even a centrist like Biden, no matter who, is 30%. Same would be true of Democratic voters. If the President was a Democratic Trump, 30% would still be supporting him . The other 12% are just people who don’t pay any attention, don’t read the news, their lives are the same as they were before a new President comes in, and you ask them if they approve and they sure. If Trump’s real base is 40%, this country is done.

editing - just saw escheral’s post, I agree, I don’t see how his rating is going to go up in the next few months unless COVID disappears as if by magic. But, I have been expecting it to go down for the last few months.

Seconded. I’m done ordering the “both sides” bullshit platter for lunch.

Two weeks ago Steve Mnuchin said that the $600 federal unemployment was ridiculous. Republicans for months have griped that the money was too much and was making people lazy, unwilling to return to work because they were somehow better off “on the dole”.

Now that Trump signed his memos, the refrain is that Democrats obstructed everything and if they file suit to stop Trump’s unconstitutional power grab, they will just be hurting American’s hard-working people who need the money.

Fuck them. Fuck them all.

I don’t understand how a person would make themselves look like a moron, just to defend one stupid sentence by the President. I mean, is it THAT difficult to say “The President messed up” or even better, not say anything at all?

You expect that of a politician?
