The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

I’m not understanding the mystery here. At that age (early 90s for me), we did trips of that length (5-6 hours) without a problem.

As long as the senate’s flipped, President Biden will be able to deal with that epic shit-sandwich a lot more easily, barring any squirrely antics from the de-regulation/pro-life/anti-immigration
squirrely Thomas/Kavanaugh/Gorsuch/Alito thing.
And no more felching the court system with Mitch’s judges. (an aside…GO, AMY, GO!!!)

Melania giving Ivanka a death glare.

I’m not exactly a Rachel Maddow fanboi, but I’ve got to give her props for, seconds after the conclusion of Trump’s 70-minute speech tonight, matter-of-factly rattling off about twenty statements of his that were complete bullshit. That’s some quality note-taking there.

Also, considering how crusty and cynical the current administration has made me, I kind of shocked myself with the depth of my disgust over Trump’s blatant use of the White House as a campaign prop. Geez, Donnie, why not just spray “Trumpz Houze” on the walls with a rattle can and be done with it?

Watch Daniel Dale do it.

That was indeed a helluva thing to watch. :astonished:

further down in the comments one person stated that kyle’s mother drove him to wisc.

what on earth!!??

Too good to pass up:

The Biden campaign manager to snag the domain “keepamericagreat.com,” which is Trump’s reelection slogan.

What depresses me is that, if this had been any other president at any other period in time, there would have been unrelenting outrage.

The reason there isn’t is because we’ve been conditioned to believe that this is how this president behaves. We just accept it on some level. Yes, I know some reporters are discussing how unprecedented this is, but you don’t see any real outrage, do you?

Despite all of this, despite his monumentally horrible response to the pandemic, despite his rampant corruption, despite the economic fallout (which we’ve not nearly seen the end of)…he is still going to get 60 million votes and then some.

I don’t think this country will survive him - or more to the point, I don’t think this country is going to survive its own collective stupidity and apathy. I just don’t.

Wow, that’s some incredible incompetence right there. Somebody should have gotten that months ago.

No worse than having the supposedly nonpartisan Director of National Intelligence basically claim that Trump’s opponents are national security threats (in his own words). That pretty much took the fucking cake for me right there.

But yeah, using symbols of national authority as political campaign props, using the Marine guard as stage actors in political theater, that was pretty off-the-charts shit right there, too.

I don’t know where to post this… or maybe I’ve already posted it somewhere…

Why isn’t the Biden campaign hammering home the ever-favorite, tried-and-true “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” That seems like an obvious message.

Morning Joe suggested that they go with, “Are you better off now than you were in January?”

Agreed. But personally, I’m a hell of a lot better off now than four years ago and I won’t consider voting for that asshole for a second. It’s in spite of him, not because of him (other than a tax break). Of course, I’m just speaking financially, overall I’m discouraged, embarrassed, and disgusted by this President and the number of my fellow citizens who can abide by his incompetence and immorality.

Four years ago at this time I was six weeks into being laid off, and worried about how we could afford to hold onto our home.
Today we have a tiny home in Florida, twenty minutes away from some of the best beaches in the country, and our two part time jobs mean we have more in the bank than our two full time jobs ever did in Connecticut.
I am better off despite the petty, divisive little racist shitstain currently in the Oval Office.

That’s too simplistic, and in fact, some people might actually be better off financially than they were 4 years ago.

I would instead take all of the main talking points and throw it back at them.

Law and order, eh? You alone can fix it eh? Well you’ve had 4 fucking years to keep peace in the streets and look what happened.

You’re gonna get us better trade deals, are ya? Well all you’ve done is rebranded a trade deal Democrats passed 25 years ago and you’ve basically made everything more expensive. You’ve also shut down factories and left billions of dollars worth of grain to rot and you’ve prevented American farmers from competing in global markets. How does another 4 years sound, Middle America?

You said you were going to give us better healthcare, right? All you’ve done is try to take insurance away from millions and offered no replacement. You’ve also made it more expensive for many others.

Yes to all of this. It’s a clear-cut emotional appeal to show people “You were promised X, but you got the opposite.”

I’ve been harping on this for four years. He didn’t just make a vague promise (I’ll give you better healthcare") he said he actually had a healthcare plan all ready to go. It was a done deal.

January 15, 2017

President-elect Donald Trump said in a weekend interview that he is nearing completion of a plan to replace President Obama’s signature health-care law with the goal of “insurance for everybody,” while also vowing to force drug companies to negotiate directly with the government on prices in Medicare and Medicaid.

Trump said his plan for replacing most aspects of Obama’s health-care law is all but finished. Although he was coy about its details — “lower numbers, much lower deductibles” — he said he is ready to unveil it alongside Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

“It’s very much formulated down to the final strokes. We haven’t put it in quite yet but we’re going to be doing it soon,” Trump said. He noted that he is waiting for his nominee for secretary of health and human services, Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), to be confirmed. That decision rests with the Senate Finance Committee, which hasn’t scheduled a hearing.

No doubt some people are. What about the millions of unemployed who also lost their health insurance (if they ever had any). What about the loss of faith in the government as an institution, What about COVID? There’s more to “better off” than a few extra dollars in the bank.

IF Biden wins, the Republicans will spend 100% of their effort obstructing and trying to damage the country as much as possible. This is what they do. They’re not even subtle about it.
