they have been doing airport things to get around the number limits in some states, the arena embarrassment thing, etc. he can fly in have a great look with af 1 in back of him, and fly right out. this way he can zip around faster and to more places.

I believe an additional point is that doing the rally at the airport means there’s no need to fly in the President’s motorcade vehicles, which requires a C-17 load of additional crap.
Even so, it must be costing Individual-ONE a lot of money.

Want another rumor? Heard that before the rally, the buses ran many loops to the location. After the rally, the first load of buses left and many of the rally goers decided not to wait for the next trip because it was obviously going to take a long time and they might not be able to get on the next bus and, heck, the parking area isn’t that far away. So they walked on the road, which slowed down the returning buses, which made the rest of them less likely to wait, so more of them walked on the road. . .
As I say - this is a rumor.

It wouldn’t shock me if this is just a weaselly cop out. Sure the drivers were paid, they’re employees. The drivers aren’t being compensated by the campaign. I’d totally believe that a supervisor or manager said to the drivers, “they didn’t pay us, get out of there”.

I don’t think Cuomo wants the job, nor do I think he’s a good pick. He’s been great as Governor of New York through the pandemic, but he rubs a lot of people the wrong way and is a serious self-promoter in his own right. Also much too partisan. I deliberately tried to stay away from anyone who is highly partisan. If I were to make a partisan suggestion, it would be Adam Schiff, drop the mic.
