Twitter has suspended the account of the US Customs and Border Protection Commissioner after he put out a tweet praising Individual 1’s wall and claimed “Every mile helps us stop gang members, murderers, sexual predators, and drugs from entering our country. It’s a fact, wall’s work.” (yes, the apostrophe is his). The Secretary of Homeland Security warned Twitter that it was posing a threat to US security.

Our ultra-conservative fucknutter here in Aus, a woman by the name of Pauline Hanson whose party is the Pauline Hanson One Nation Party (PHON) lost nearly 7% of her base-vote yesterday in the Qld state election. That’s HUGE in Qld which is the traditional birthplace and home to all the racist, sexist and homophobic candidates in every state and federal election.
If Qld has grown sick of such shenanigans, I’m hopin’ and a’ prayin’ that the US will follow suit on Tuesday.

For those who don’t know, One Nation is Australia’s xenophobic, nationalist, and just generally nasty parties. Pauline Hanson got her start in politics fear-mongering about Vietnamese boat people; when that turned out to be a non-issue she turned her demagoguery to Muslim immigrants.
That party has been rife (surprise!) with corruption. They also approached the National Rifle Association a few years back looking for funding in exchange for promising to loosen Australian gun laws.
This did not go over well.
(Since then, laws have been tightened so that Australian parties can no longer get funding from outside Australia. I don’t know if there is a connection)

In US party terms, Pauline has all the racism, xenophobia and general nastiness to anyone Not Like Us of Trumpism. But she’s not nearly as deluded as a typical trumpist. She pretty much lives in the same reality as the rest of us, except with everything spun like a top-loader to make all the not white folk look as bad as possible.
Clive, on the other hand, lives entirely in his own deluded Dunning-Kruger head, which must be an exceedingly scary place. But he’s not half the fucking racist Pauline is.

Actually, her losses were much bigger than you make it sound. One Nation lost nearly 7 percentage points.
The party went from 13.8% of the popular vote in 2017 to 7% of the popular vote in 2020. That means that One Nation lost basically half of its voters.
I’m seeing reports on Twitter that a lot of Washington DC businesses are boarding up prior to Election Day. At least one person has a friend who was told to treat it as if a hurricane were coming to town. This is scary stuff.
