You’re just talking about this (ie, Iran) war, though, right? Big monied interests, donors, and lobbyists – I would wager – keep whispering things like “Cuba,” “Greenland,” and “Canada” into Trump’s “see clear through to the other ear” ear.
But, yeah. Generally, Trump is celebrating a textbook Republican redistribution of wealth.
You mean Stephen Miller? He’s reportedly the main driver behind most of it.
The thing about the big monied interests is … they also like some measure of predictability.
They don’t mind secrecy, especially keeping the general public in the dark, but they also like to know how things will stand over the next year, especially the ones that have significant physical infrastructure that requires longer lead-up times. Lower tax burden? Fewer regulatory hurdles? Yeah, they love those. Global instability and sudden outbreaks of war? They’re not so keen on those.
While they may still make money, they make more when they know what’s coming. And Trump was never a planner. Even less so now that he’s clearly declining mentally. When he sets off on a war with basically a month (or less) of notice and even less planning all around, that doesn’t serve anybody’s (in the US, anyway) interests but his own.
Example: there’s not enough missiles? And Lockheed Martin can’t make more quickly enough? Ok, how about we just suddenly move some from South Korea? Not like we have interests in East Asia, right?
Apparently no one in this administration thought that Iran would block the Strait of Hormuz but now they’re trying to deal with the (entirely to be expected) resulting issues. Trump said, “These ships should go through the Strait of Hormuz, and show some guts. There’s nothing to be afraid of. They have no navy. We sunk all their ships.” My understanding is that Iran still has the Shahed drones, so they may still have something to be afraid of. Note that some tankers have been sunk with loss of life. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Defense said, in effect, relax. “We have been dealing with it, and don’t need to worry about it.”
To me, the weird thing is his apparent belief that had he not acted, Cabinet members would be walking around in sneakers (with a suit in the White House?) “Sneakers are wonderful, but I don’t want my Cabinet members wearing sneakers.”
Hegseth has what in a poker is a “tell” face when he’s lying or covering something up.
Trump has a better “of course you’ll double or triple your money” from his days running shoddy casinos in Atlantic City. People generally believe him. Almost over, they’ve got hardly anything. “tt’s over when my bones feel it”.
"Yeah, but that true coat!

He’s probably headed to one of his golf courses. Yet in reality, this is a President “waist deep in the big muddy” as Pete Seeger said about another President and another war.
This is going to get much worse. There is no “before it gets better”. Sure, blame it on Hegseth and generals, yet the MAGA’s voted in a fool for a commander-in-chief. There’s no way to even declare a small-v “victory” and exit, if that’s okay with Israel. If not, push on!
Whenever you think he’s hit rock bottom, he gets out a jackhammer…
A fundraising email from President Donald Trump’s political action committee has a provocative pitch: using an image from Saturday’s dignified transfer honoring six fallen US soldiers, it promises access to the president’s “private national security briefings.”…
