Though Congress can also create a means to invoke it, though the exact mechanism for such is not laid out, other that must be done “by law” (emphasis mine):

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thank God Trump learned his lesson that spouting unhinged statements on the internet about death, destruction, and annihilation only to back off at the last minute makes him look like moron. From this point on I think we’ll see rational and thoughtful content coming from the White House.

There has been no negotiation.

There is no agreement.

This is, once again, Trump making shit up off the top of his head and trying to declare what reality is to his sole benefit.

Iran will not open the Strait. They have no reason to give up their one and only significant bargaining chip. And reporting has been that they have completely cut off negotiating partners, at least for the time being.

When Iran fails to open the Strait Trump will claim they are “bad and evil”, because he talks like a child, and they have violated a non existent agreement. Trump will once again manipulate the markets with bullshit threats and proclamations and continue bombing them to no real purpose.

We’ll go through all this again in a week.

According to the AP, as of a few minutes ago:

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said Wednesday it had accepted a two-week ceasefire in the war.

Its statement said it would negotiate with the United States in Islamabad beginning Friday.

“It is emphasized that this does not signify the termination of the war,” the statement said. “Our hands remain upon the trigger, and should the slightest error be committed by the enemy, it shall be met with full force.”

This, of course, does not necessarily mean that Iran did, in fact, provide a “10 point proposal,” as Trump’s post claimed.

You’re correct. I think what it means is that Pakistan suggested this cease fire, and Trump agreed, even though Iran had not agreed to anything.
