We haven’t had three branches of governent for over a year now.
He decreed it be built on social media. That is official channels these days.
Yes. It happened at the start of the dinner. AIUI, the speech would have been after the dinner.
So bullets before bombs. Thanks.
Good thing there was a camera guy there, able to capture all of the security guys running around.
“Everybody, stay down!”
Not you, camera guy. You’re good. Did you get me pulling out my gun?
It’s just amazing (in a bad way) that not only was the first reaction I saw here and elsewhere to the alleged assassination “he probably faked it”; but that the response to that was a mix of “yeah, or course” and “yeah, but he did it wrong”. Not “that’s a conspiracy theory”.
Yes. Though it’s not clear that he was shirtless before he was taken down by the Secret Service and security. A photo of the suspect from another angle shows a silver mylar blanket over his lower body, which suggests to me that they stripped him in the process of subduing him.
For something to be a conspiracy theory, it has to be ridiculous.
Yep. I am one to usually favor official reports, but this is bullshit. Definitely staged by Trump to frame the press as his enemy.
It’s not even the first time.
He brings up grievances unprompted - Obama, BIden, whoever. How many times has he brought up the shooter in Pennsylvania at all over the last year? Even once over the last year? He tweets random bullshit in the middle of the night about things that happened over a decade ago, and he’s just forgotten some guy who supposedly actually grazed him?
Moments before the chaos, the White House press secretary told reporters that Trump, who was set to address the crowd, was “ready to rumble.”
“There will be some shots fired tonight.”
“Everyone should tune in. It’s going to be really great.”
Jesus Christ they’re bad at this.
They’re stupid, they’re weird, and they’re creepy.
That’s even worse than Daniel’s winning move in The Karate Kid. That wasn’t even foreshadowing. This nonsense from the second felonial era is spotlighting along with the telegraphing.
Did this BS happen at the dinner or merely at the hotel where the dinner was held?
I agree. We seem to have entered a world where anything that can be spun as “well that’s convenient for him” means it must be fake.
The man is a deeply polarizing figure in a country known for gun violence. Two people died in the first attempt. Frankly, I’m surprised there haven’t been more attempts. I can only chalk it up to him having support from the portion of the population most likely to produce people willing to attempt political violence.
It’s “convenient” that this happened to be literally the first Correspondent’s Dinner he ever attended? And that it happened to be disrupted in this particular fashion rather than a more normal protest? That extends beyond convenience and strains credulity
Does it? There is a population of how many millions of people that hate him. Even if only 1% of them would be willing to resort to violence if given an opportunity, that’s a lot of potential violence just floating around.
It is disappointing how quickly everyone seems to be willing to throw out coincidence when it is probably the single largest factor governing all of our interactions in life. Crazier things than what you are proposing stretched the bounds of credulity happen every single day.
Crazier still to assume that Trump was the intended target given the Right’s hatred of the “fake news”.
Actually this fits in with that hatred. It can be seen by the far right as the ultimate embarrassment for the woke journalism profession.
- Another opportunity for DJT to look “heroic” without being in any real danger. Plus he didn’t have to give what would have probably been a very embarrassing speech.
- Epstein? Who’s Epstein?
