He peaked when he was 13 or 14 and he didn’t change since then. And that includes his prejudices, which reflect that long gone era

Robot_Arm:
What is the tactical mission of a drone port, anyway? I get that it’s a place to launch drones from, but what kind of drones, and what kind of targets are they meant to be launched at? If they’re offensive weapons, some enemy is going to have to get pretty close to D.C. for us to launch drones at them. If they’re defensive, how exactly do they work?
These are all questions Trump hasn’t thought to ask.
I would vote for @Robot_Arm .
kenobi_65:
There is/was already a bunker underneath the East Wing; famously, that’s where Dick Cheney was taken, by the Secret Service, during 9/11.
Isn’t that where they kept the President, while Dave ran the country?
If only life would imitate art…
Sure, but to a New York property developer what’s the point of having an impregnable bunker if you can’t show it, and the bling within and without, off to the adoring crowds?
Wheelz:
In fact, the entire city of Washington could get nuked, killing hundreds of thousands, and as long as he’s able to poke his badly-coiffed head out of the bunker afterwards, he’d consider it a win.
Most definitely a win. Hundreds of thousands of people who voted against him eliminated? The DC ctiyscape reduced to rubble leaving it open for him to redevelop according to his vision? What’s the down side?
billy-jack:
He felt that he deserved to be in the highest society in New York City, but that they perceived him to be a buffoon and did not accept him. He was not get invited to the upper crust functions and dinners and he felt it as an intentional slight.
Supposedly, he ran for the Presidency to force them to accept him as being at their level.
I think his original motive was even more venal than that. It was merely to enhance his brand – Donald Trump, Presidential candidate – for all the goods he was hawking. If you go back and look at the expressions on his face when Clinton conceded you see surprise, not satisfaction. Ivanka, on the other hand, looks pissed. She’d signed on for six months in the spotlight while he campaigned and now she was stick with a four-year gig as First Lady.
His first term passed as relatively harmless compared to his second because he had no fucking idea what grasping the levers of power could do, grift-wise. Especially after the four-year Biden interregnum he had and hit the ground running. We’re coming up now on the eighth month of his second term. It feels far longer than the whole first term.

Yeah. I remember in November of '24 I said it would be impossible to predict exactly how bad things could get. That we would be lucky to have a repeat of 2017 - 2021.
It’s been way worse than I could have expected or would have expected at the time. I think the culture/political damage and undermining our trust as a nation in democracy may be what bothers me the most. I think that may be the longest lasting effect he has. Some people seem to think him going away via death/retirement will be like a fever breaking. Maybe. But wouldn’t bet real money on it.
I wouldn’t have thought tearing down the East Wing (ETA: or the Rose Garden)would have been possible. That one particularly galls me for some reason.
He’s tried a lot of stuff. Some of it has worked. Some of it hasn’t. Their has been a not at all insignificant amount of push back.
There are people in important positions who, I think, recognize the gravity of the situation and are acting to the best of their ability. That’s my 1,000 mile high observation right now. Stay tuned.

Not only that, but you know how he feels about a certain group of humans. There’s a reason the place is called Chocolate City .
The felon gets a new lawyer.
NEWARK, New Jersey, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Will Scharf, the White House staff secretary, will become White House counsel and assistant to the president effective September 1, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday.
Scharf will become the White House’s top lawyer after overseeing the administrative work of the Oval Office in his current role.
He also led the National Capital Planning Commission, which approved the president’s construction of the White House ballroom.
I’m going with that last bit is his only real qualification for the job.
And, of course, the Patriot Games is not for patriots.
Donald Trump’s Patriot Games were framed as a way for young Americans to show off their athletic ability. Instead, they’ve devolved into MAGA madness.
The president’s Patriot Games, which are airing on the ESPN app from Aug. 9 to 13, were initially billed as a new national competition featuring one boy and one girl from each American state or territory competing against one another as a way of “celebrating the character, determination, and excellence that define the American spirit.”
But a review by CNN found that contenders were not chosen solely for their athletic ability, but also for their love of MAGA.
The event, which is taking place as part of America’s 250th birthday celebrations, features contestants ages 14 to 17 who are largely white and either homeschooled or attend private Christian schools. Additionally, many of them do not reside in the area they are representing. The male teenager representing Puerto Rico, for instance, is from Texas. Bobbi Vickers, the 16-year-old representing Massachusetts, attends school in California, CNN reported.
IOW: The Vanity Games . The rest of the article describes the clusterfuck the games already are.
A traitor here, a traitor there, a traitor everywhere ! Per the felon.
President Donald Trump has celebrated the confirmation of his appointee by skewering a Republican senator who dared oppose him.
Trump, 80, took aim at Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski for not voting to confirm Todd Blanche, who was narrowly confirmed as attorney general by the Senate early Saturday morning.
Senators voted 50-49, with Murkowski and Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine joining all Democrats in opposing Blanche’s nomination to become the nation’s chief law enforcement officer.
Trump took swipes at Murkowski on his Truth Social page, reposting a MAGA supporter’s take that read, “Lisa Murkowski will not vote for Todd Blanche… After having no problem voting for Merrick Garland. Claiming Blanche will weaponize the DOJ and is too political. The same Garland that personally signed off on the raid of President Trump’s home. Murkowski is owned.”
“Traitor,” the post concluded.
He knows nothing about them, so of course Rip van Simple is putting them in charge.
President Donald Trump has reportedly nominated an author of Project 2025 to serve as a watchdog for the Interior Department .
Dennis Kirk, a former official in the White House Office of Personnel Management and one of the authors of the far-right Project 2025 document to serve as the Interior Department’s inspector general, according to The Hill .
Kirk previously served as a watchdog within the intelligence community last year, according to The Washington Post .
House Natural Resources ranking member Congressman Jared Huffman criticized the appointment, calling him “fraudulent.”
“Dennis Kirk is a fake and fraudulent watchdog,” Huffman said in a statement . “Everyone should have their eyes wide open. Each and every thing this political puppet does will be in the service of Donald [Trump].”

I wonder if this is the same “highly credible witness” who called Trump in 2011 and told him Obama’s birth certificate was fake.
ALERT: A National Park Service career employee, a highly credible witness, saw David Hearn (ActBlue) in broad daylight vandalize the Reflecting Pool by “violently” ripping and tugging at the Pool’s somewhat delicate coating. The National Park Service...
