The Unofficial Start of Summer MMP

Aaaaannnd Gnat just threw up so I’m watching him and if he pukes a couple more times we’re off to the hospital.

I feel like resigning. Instead I should pack my hospital bag.

Morning! Today is designated lazy day…I am taking myself off to the movies in a bit to go see Bridesmaids. I need a bit of entertainment and I need to go talk to/interact with some three dimensional people or I am going to go insane. The tree branches are cleaned up - Good Neighbour Ed and I did that this morning.

After the movies I am going to go buy a new shower curtain and a new comforter and some new pillows for our bed. Next weekend will be clean the house for the listing agents etc coming round.

Summer plans include moving to OK, selling this house and starting a new job that I hate already. On the plus side it gets us out of Cali and out of this house we are so upside down one with some help from the company so I can take the hateful job for 12 months while I look for something else. At the end of July my sister and her boyfriend are coming over to visit we have an itinerary of what they want to do here in CA I just need to get the bookings made

Happy Monday!

Hasn’t thrown up again yet, but clearly isn’t feeling good. Hope we don’t have to go in.

Hope things calm down, LiLi.

Heh, I think May 40th is amusing. Also, thanks for the info on clout, BooFae. Wouldn’t have guessed that.

ETA: forgot that I came in to sharevideo. (there’s a thread about it also)

Am sleepy, prolly because I took another round of antihistamines. Going to friends’ for dinner after a bit. Maybe a bit of shopping beforehand? Lunch was: raw beets and raw jicama with lime juice, red bell peppers, and strawberries. Yum.

Nap first?

GT

{{LiLi}} Sounds like a rough time. :frowning:

I just read the thread on norinew. I hope she recovers ok.

We went to Milwaukee for the weekend but came back last night because I needed to do some work today. Our deadline of Tuesday end-of-day doesn’t change just because there’s a holiday on Monday. We can’t get it all done in one day so I started some work today. Bleh. Now I think I deserve a nap.

That salad sounds really good, gt. Do you have a recipe or just combine those ingredients?

I have been keeping busy knitting and I’ll have to post pictures sometime soon. But not before my nap.

No real summer plans here. I just traveled to my parents’ last weekend and saw KT’s parents this weekend. We went to San Diego in February and will probably take a trip in December so that’s about it for travel for us.

Home. Tired. Had fun. Will post linx to pix later in week. Sleep now.

My Netflix addiction has grown. I’ve discovered a series called Slings and Arrows and I’m loving it. I’ve watched 3 episodes already.

Not sure what we’ll do for supper - probably go out because I’m not in the mood to cook. Then the day winds down and the long weekend ends. Alas. At least there’s just 4 days till the next weekend.

The Boys and I spent Memorial Day the way you should–in a cemetery. We went back to Riverside Cemetery and walked around in the hot hot heat. We started off in the Jewish section, wended our way around the Old Section, found a mini-Arlington, and went by Thomas Wolfe’s grave again, waved at the tomb of the first airplane pilot from Asheville killed in WWI, and then went back to the car. We still haven’t explored the Greek section of the cemetery yet and that’s right by the entrance. We saw a grave of a soldier who assisted with the “Indian Removal” of 1838 (which you may know better as the Trail of Tears) and two groundhogs. Or it could have been the same groundhog in two places, there’s no telling.

There is wildlife *everywhere *here. Last year a yearling bear cub wandered into downtown before finding its way back to the woods. I’m pretty sure there’s one tearing up trash bags in the garbage corral because someone in the building is too damn lazy to toss their bag into the bin. There’s four trash bins at all times, so that’s pretty damn lazy.

My intartoobz was down for a while today!

Anywho, da cave is al spiffed and defilthyfied and we did pizza for dindin just cause.

Hope Gnat is doin’ better LiLi.

I’s tahrd!

Bad Chinese made supper. That place was practically empty, so it was obvious that some food had been sitting a while. But the broccoli was good, so there’s that. I’m going to reassume the knit position till beddy-bye time.

Yanno, I’d be counting the days till retirement if someone would just tell me when I can retire…

My daughter’s sweetie has had ribs on the smoker for a few hours, and we just put ribs on the grill. Her sweetie also has a pot of beans in the smoker.
I’ve made my 'tater salad and I’m beating everybody off with a spoon so they don’t start scooping it all up before “meal” time.

I managed to get whole downstairs dusted, vacuumed and tidied before they arrived at around 11:30 or noon.

Man, I am not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. I’m trying hard to not even think about it.

I am trying not to think about work tomorrow either Taters…urgh.

The movie Bridesmaids was hilarious…pee your pants laughing funny. I needed that today.

I then spent an hour wandering in Target when I only went in for two new pillows and ended up getting 2 new barstools and a few other things. Then I got 2 new comforters for our bed on sale at Bed Bath and Beyond. I have a load of towels in the dryer and a load of jeans washing. I am going to put the shower curtail rail back up and hang the new shower curtain then call it a night. Productive weekend methinks.

No idea what is for dinner…salad maybe…

Pool time was fun. We had one friend bring kids, it was fun. Gordie hasn’t been eaten . Yet.

{{{{{{LiLi}}}}}

bFCM**, I have 384 movies and TV series in my Netflix queue.

:: hugs for LiLi ::

Last weekend the temps went up to the high 80s (around 30C) which was hot enough, but then I got dragged out on the motorcycle which meant I had to wear long jeans (ugh!) and my riding jacket (portable sauna!). Thankfully the weather has cooled down a bit for the moment.

We’re leaving for Europe in a couple of weeks. First Spain, then Edinburgh for me just for a few days to see Scottish Darling, while boyfriend goes ahead to Belfast. Then it’s Ireland for a few weeks.

Can’t wait to see Spain, never been before.

that was a nice nap

I hope everyone’s Memorial Day was whatever it need to be for each of you. I spent mine on I95.

I took the ferry from Orient Point to New London on Saturday, and had no traffic from there to Mansfield. I took a short “decompress” and had dinner with Nephew1&wife, and the Rosebuds. OMG THEY ARE SOOOOOOOO CUTE!!! And both of them are very articulate for their age. Altho the 3yo still sounds like Minnie Mouse. They both charmed the pants off the waitresses at 99.

I woke up Sunday sore from the drive, but met them and Nephew2&wife and Bro at the Holiday Inn for a very pleasant buffet brunch. We all then went back to N1’s apartment complex to hang at the pool. The entire rest of the day. Couldn’t get the kids out of the pool. N2&w and Bro headed home around 3pm.
About 5:30pm, N1 grilled up some dinner on one of the two grills on the lovely patio adjacent to the pool area. I could get used to living in that complex very easily. And the buildings are arranged in such a way as to create lovely cross breezes. I heard one resident compare it to his trip to Hawaii.

I left about 7:30 and collapsed. I overslept this morning so I cancelled the ferry reservation and drove home. The traffic wasn’t bad, but I had to stop a few times for cat naps.

I promise there will be photos to squee over.

meanwhile

Haze, when you’re thinking it’s “way too bloody hot” in Andalusia, just remember: you’re coming when it still cools down at night…

Mwahahaha

Well, might as well soak up the sunshine before our weeks in Belfast.

Besides, I don’t mind the heat TOO much. It’s having to wear jeans and a riding jacket in the heat that I mind.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 70 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of around 95. There is a slight chance of rain but I’ll believe it if and when I see it. Like I said yestiddy, it is Summer in south Jawja!

I was asleep by eight last night. I was a tahrd bear after defilthyfyin’ da cave! I even pulled an all nighter. Didn’t get up even once to pee.

Now I seek more caffiene and feedin’ of rumbly tummy must ensue. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Oh well, only four days this week, right?

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Blurf.

Happy Virtual Monday to the USMumpers, Tuesday for the furriners.

Good morning!

Big big big weekend!

The Bat Mitzvah was wonderful. The little girl surpassed any and all expectations. She did phenomenally and her beautiful signing voice just made it even better. We couldn’t be more proud. The party was a blast- she and her friends danced the night a way while the adults drank and ate and had fun too. The DJ was great- we used him last time for the boy’s bar mitzvah. I can’t believe it’s over. Over a year of preparation and it’s all done. Wow.

DH left for new job today. :frowning:

He’ll be back Friday night and back out to Rosieville on Monday. Rinse and repeat for the next year. Sigh.
