Howdy from irk just cause.
Yeah, saw the other thread. Awful. Just awful. So sudden. Those poor children.
I lost contact with my half sibs after my step-father died 15 years ago. They moved around, I got married and changed my name.
I wasn’t close with them except, for my youngest brother. He’s the only one I really wanted to contact.
My sister is a complete ditts*. My olderst brother is a biker, with kids, dogs and guns. My middle brother was brain injured, and doesn’t remember me.
I found a person on Facebook with their last name and took a change. Her first name struck me in some way. It turned out, she was my middle brother’s daughter. I haven’t seen her since she was 4 yo. She gave me my sister’s facebook page.
Sister gave me my baby brother’s phone # and we talked last night.
Turns out he’s moving to Portland OR next month. We’ll be able to get together.
- One of the things to prove her dittsiness, is, she was the family contact for my middle brother’s caregivers. While in the nursing home, he was burned (don’t know how), transferred to a different part of the state and ultimately died. She didn’t tell anyone in the family, so his ashes were “disposed” of, because she didn’t bother to respond to their messages.
Wow- great story! Congrats!
That’s so cool! I’m happy for you! My son was able to meet his younger half-sister a few years ago, and they have kept in touch.
I got an award! Actually a reward. A few weeks ago when I attended the Offshore Technology Conference, I was in a room watching a presentation, and I stood up and asked a question. Turns out my boss’s boss was in there, and was pleased at my “initiative and curiosity.” I got a gift card for $50 to a place of my choosing! Restaurants, home improvement, entertainment - lots of things to choose from.
W00t!
(Even better, the boss noticed me - in a good way!)
picu YAY!!! What great news about findin’ your brother!
Rebo YAY!!! Tres cool! A reward and bein’ noticed by the big boss!
Pot roast with steamed carrots and N.O.T. for dindin along with rice and cornbread muffins. MMMMMMM… It’s hawt out but da bear is ready for some good home cookin’. Even if’n I do say so myself.
Way to go, Rebo!! Drinks on you!
**picu **- very cool! Hope you have a nice reunion.
**Soapy **- I did the live-apart thing for 2 years, minus the weekend visits. I got to see him every month or so - I spent a lot of time and money with Southwest. It’s doable, but it’s not fun. Hang in there!
Home from work and one step closer to retiring. There was a meeting today and boss gave us a quick and dirty - we’ll hear more tomorrow from the CO. Bottom line, retirement incentives will be offered very soon. Apparently Congress has approved RIF funding and we’re just waiting for the official paperwork. No dates yet, but I’ll hold out till the last minute possible to minimize the financial impact on us. Hard to believe it’s finally going to happen.
Meanwhile it’s hotter’n all get-out here. I harvested my first 4 cherry 'maters. Supper will be poke chops, salad, and dunno what else. And that’s pretty much it. C’mon Firday!!!
Everybody knows that summer started *last *week, on the Victoria Day long weekend, the traditional date when cottages are opened up, BBQs disinterred from sheds, and fireworks exploded. You folks south of the border are laggards!
But I wasn’t finished with spring yet…
Dindin is et. NUMMY!!!
Bookie Canadians think it’s Summer when there’s only six inches of snow on the ground.
ETA: First on two! WOOHOO!!!
we didn’t even HAVE spring yet
Supper was easy - poke chops in the toaster oven, a not-so-great pasta side dish, fresh pineapple, and cucumber-onion salad. Fresh strawberries for dessert. I feel all healthy and stuff.
Now it’s time to assume the knit position for the evening. So you’re all on your own. TA!!
I’m doin’ poke chops for dindin tomorrow MOOOOOOM. Perhaps we should start coordinatin’ menus.
Work, more work, work, a wedding, work, another wedding, more work.
Day 1 of 365 almost over…
:: hugs for the Prof ::
We’re supposed to go away this weekend with my parents, but the forecast looks like rain. BOO.
Photos and videos! Enjoy
Ugh, such a loooong day. I just now got home from work. I am completely worn out.
Decided to order pizza so waiting for that while I watch Mythbusters.
