Dammit.

The whole “point” of the baby is that it represents something other than a short term “purely tactical view”. That there is some possible future hope for the non walkerized human race. And it echoes the question that Andrea raised earlier to Michonne about finding some island to grow old and die on. Eventually they need something more out of life than just not getting killed by zombies.

A katana is a slashing sword, Kurosawa. And you can slash a pig in half with one. Although apparently they do require a great deal of care, otherwise they rust.

Mombie. LOL Love it.

Was also thinking of that conversation between Andrea and Michonne. She’s like, “so then what would we do?” “Then what?” In other words what is our ultimate goal. I too would want to rest and just enjoy some time with other people without being in constant fear of being eaten. I’m sorry. I’m weak and showers and beds would look mighty good to me.

So, we expect to see Zombie T-Dawg make an appearance, right?

Hard to say. Rick and the others found what appeared to be his remains and didn’t seem too concerned. That scene wasn’t particularly well handled.

No. Adoptive mothers can induce lactation, but I’ve never heard of anyone making enough milk to fully meet the caloric needs of an infant. And to induce lactation, you need formula to feed the baby through an SnS (link has a non-sexualized line drawing of a nipple).

So yeah, hopefully they made some pre-emptive formula runs, and would realistically have to hit up a WalMart or something to make sure they have enough.

Of course, this is the show that had Maggie walk away from Lori’s corpse with the cord still attached, so who knows? (And what a missed opportunity for some slapstick - yoink!)

I also thought the neonate doll was extremely well done - good work by the artists on that. And I’m sure the live baby actor couldn’t be made up with all manner of goo, and that’s why s(he) got cleaner as well as bigger instantly. :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t find this ep very emotionally engaging, but that may be because I completely spoiled myself. Still, **Dark2Phoenix **didn’t know what was going to happen, and he was happy to engage in a debate over whether the c-section needed to be done right then, with us talking over Lori’s touching final speech, so maybe it just wasn’t engaging in general.

Win.

Also win. Awesome.

Regarding the cord, they didn’t show it being cut, but I thought I saw Maggie putting a knife to the cord before the camera changed.

“Batshit crazy head” – That’s right. He’s got Charlie Manson eyes!

The guy who played Tomas was a fantastic actor – unless, that is, he actually is a violent psychopath! That would explain the crazy eyes…

The cord was visible when she lifted the baby, and she had the knife.

I am told that a woman can be induced to lactate by having an infant attempt to nurse.

“Mombie.” I was going to use that as the title of a zombie short story I wrote a few years ago but opted for something a little more serious.

I also came up with Daycare of the Dead…

“Holy crap, is that T-Dog?”
“How should I know?”
“The dude’s been with us for a year!”
“Eh. Probably more like a month or two all told. There are weeks on end where we don’t even see him. I’m not sure where he goes, actually.”
“Well he sure looks like T-Dog”
“Um…I guess. He looks black, I’ll give you that. But we already have a black guy in our group so this probably isn’t him.”
“You mean the dude from the prison?”
“Prison? Aaaaah. That makes so much sense now! I just thought he changed clothes.”
“Well no. But I’m going to call him T-Dog and we’ll see if anyone else notices.”

I know someone who has seen copious lactation from women who are presumably not new mothers in porn. This person said he didn’t know if it would be enough to satisfy a newborn baby though.

No. If you watch the scene closely, you’ll see that poor T-Dog was completely torn to shreds. He was laying in the prison corridor splayed wide open; totally gutted with his chest cavity hollowed out. He’s gone. Not coming back as a walker.

This from Mrs. Plant v.3.0, not a movie rental.

I remember just an upper torso crawling around though…

One thing that just doesn’t seem right to me is that pretty much all the adults males in Guv-ville are in on it (that is, the Guv’s evil plan). Which means most everyone there knows what’s going on. I’m not buying that everyone would be so cheery-eyed if they knew all the shit that was happening.

I think the only folks who really know what is happening are the Governor’s hit squaddies. And probably the professor too. Everyone else is as enamored as Blondie.

I liked this episode. This season has not been disappointing so far.

I did feel a bit bad for Lori dying. The deathbed speech was contrived, but I’m a sucker for cheap schmaltzy crap like that. I was kind of hoping that they’d just give her a better narrative role rather than kill her off, and I hope they didn’t decide to do it just because of all the fan rage. Still, listening to the complaints about the last season might be why this season has been strong so far. I was afraid they’d get into the prison and then spend three seasons staring at the walls and moping, but things are moving along at a good clip and they’re keeping things balanced and interesting without trying to resort to non-stop zombie action.

T-Dog dying was stupid. They barely used him at all and then just killed him off. Lame. If I were that actor, I’d be kind of annoyed.

It’s good to see that Rick’s less noble decisions are starting to bite him in the ass. I always thought it was a dick move to kill Andrew rather than try to talk things out. Still, after he locked Andrew in the yard, I could have sworn I heard the sounds of him being torn up by zombies.

My friends and I were joking that Lori getting her first zombie kill and T-Dog getting some actual lines were red flags. “We’re finally starting to use them. Oops! They’re dead now!”

I’ve noticed that there have been several shots of Andrea and Michonne’s weapons in the cabinet at what is presumably the Governor’s house. Hints that the Governor has no plans to return their weapons and let them leave? I think they showed that both Andrea and Michonne noticed the weapons at times where the Governor was mentioning how he would let them leave. We know Michonne doesn’t trust anyone in Woodbury, but I’m wondering what Andrea plans to do with that information. I thought at first that perhaps Andrea was pretending to be charmed with the Governor in order to get information out of him, but she doesn’t strike me as the manipulative type.

I like how Merle is developing; he’s turning out to be an interesting character and I’m hoping we get to see more interaction between him and the main group, especially Daryl.
