The Walking Dead; 4.03 "Isolation" (open spoilers)

I don’t see that girl being strong enough to drag two adult bodies as far as they showed them being dragged. And she looks at the zombies as pets - what makes you think she’d kill actual people?

Plus - how would she even know that the people who had the flu were being held in that area? I know that the show can’t show everything, but my reading of what led up to that was that the council was trying to keep things somewhat on the down low to prevent panic (one can argue about whether that was a good strategy).

That leaves a pretty small set of suspects who knew what the suspected danger was, where the quarantine was happening, the access to the area, the ability to get close enough (twice) to kill a relatively healthy (at non-zombie) person, and the strength to drag the bodies to the courtyard. Plus a demonstrated clear eyed view of the dangers in the current world and the need to act to keep people safe.

She’s not weak and she’s messed up.

So Carol was speaking figuratively and the girl’s sister was speaking literally? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it was more about not spoiling the relative peace and quiet of their nature walk by putting down what is, at the end of the day, just one more walker.

Tiny girlish handprints.

At least Tyreese isn’t turning into an angry black stereotype.

Anyway, taking your eyes off the road for extended periods and nearly hitting a “gasp! surprise! there’s a zombie standing there!” … Are they recycling Lori-stupidity, now?

What’s the radio broadcast live or a recording?

Even if it was a recording it means that the transmitter has power.
It might even be some guy holed up in a building with a small transmitter that only makes it a few miles, not that it’s a fully powered radio station, but either way it’s someone with electricity or batteries.

Of course, OTOH, at this point, running into other living people isn’t that big of a deal anymore, it’s not like it was in S1. Not only that instead of being happy to find other people they seem to treat them as a threat.

Just last week they were all panicked by walkers gathering at one spot on the fence and pushing it over. Now this week they have a noisemaker inside the fence for the express purpose of drawing the walkers to one spot to press against the fence. Plus, the area where Carol wanted to work was precisely opposite the noisemaker in the exact path any attracted walkers would have to take to get to the noisemaker. Stupid.

Darryl should know by now to keep his eyes on the road. Idiot.

Talking Dead answered the age old question…

Is Marilyn Mansen still taking drugs?

Well, he had to be the one driving. If anyone else in the group tried it, they’d get pulled over.

Hey, he’s still (somehow) alive. We’ve got (at least for another week) two named African-American males!

The only thing that is really a question is whether the girl would be strong enough to do it. All the other information is easily hand-waved away. It seems to me that they clearly implied it is someone other than Carol in a few different ways. There was definite foreshadowing where the showed the girl with her knife being put in the sick wing. The actress also did a pretty good job portraying a little girl faking a cough, either that or she is a terrible actress if she was trying to act like a girl that is actually sick.

They also have taken great pains to show how messed up the girl is. There is really no other reason to make her such a big focus over the past few episodes if she isn’t involved in some bigger part of the plot.

The way the episode ended with Carol admitting to be the killer also seems like a misdirection that will cause conflict in the ensuing episode but turn out to be less clearcut than the initial revelation indicates. It just seems to fit the formula for this show better if the reveal by Carol is not quite the truth.

Finally, spoilered because I saw it during “scenes from the next episode” at the end of the show rather than content from this week’s show:

The preview of the next episode showed another body being dragged around a corner and a trail of blood, and indicated Rick was the one following behind and about to reveal who was dragging the body. It could be misdirection but it heavily implied the killer will strike again within the sick person cell block.

I certainly hope so. I hate to think that’s what he’s like clean.

I honestly thought Rick was going to kill him during the fight over that.

For a second I wondered if the scene ‘from the next episode’ was going to be in the ‘previously on The Walking Dead’ at the beginning section next week.

Here ya go.

IMHO - Carol ‘knows’ its the little blonde girl and is protecting her - there is no way she bought that the kid was ‘sick’.

When Tyrese got dog piled by Zombies and then stumbled out of the woods alive, I didn’t see it as dramatic tension, as in “He was a goner for sure. Wait, he survived because he is a bad ass and motivated, Yay!” I saw it more as mocking us- “You think we only allow one black dude on the show at a time? You’re right! Tyrese is gonna get it! Surprise, he’s alive, there are still two black guys, haha.”

Tyrese has to survive now, because Carol has “confessed” to Rick and there needs to be a confrontation where Tyrese wants to kill her. The other black dude is a day player and probably can’t stick around more than 5 episodes so he is doomed, black or not. They are getting around the problem of all the extra Woodbury people by making them get sick and die so we can get back to the core group.

They are all assuming that the burned up people were murdered, but why couldn’t they have turned Zombie on their own, then dragged their own bloody corpses outside? The girl might have let the new walkers out to play, and then had to burn them. Carol knows the girl was involved and is covering.

It’s possible that it wasn’t the messed up girl, but the other one. Carol is teaching the kids to protect themselves from zombies, but there is no chance to try out the lessons since the zombies are outside. With the plague, there is the opportunity to wait for someone to die, let them out, and then throw down with them.

But why drag them outside and burn them? All she had to do was stick a knife in their head.

Also, I assume there’s some reason they zombies were burned and we saw Rick burning the pig sty earlier. Was it the same gas can in both locations? Could it have been Carl? And why has everyone dismissed Rick he’s the one who was playing with fire earlier?

But again, why burn them?

Burning the bodies was an attempt to contain the super-flu virus.

Disease control/sterilization.

They didn’t burn any of the other people that died, in fact they’re still digging graves for all of them (as noted by what’s his name’s glasses hanging on a grave marker) so it’s not even like they’re burning them because they’re not sure what to do with the newly dead people.

Could burning them have been an act of vengeance/anger?

Have we considered that the show jumped the shark and the disease turns them into vampires and they walked out into the sun?
