THIS point? We’re talking about Rick, the guy who once had the voices in his head on his Friends and Family Plan.
I was going for Topol, but Tevye works, too.
All it would take it is for the kid to start having nightmares. The mom takes him to the doctor’s office to have him checked out, and he tells the story of the creepy cookie lady threatening to tie him to a try and call the walkers. Of course he can tell the doctor, right? Doctors aren’t moms and you aren’t supposed to lie to them.
My take on the horse is that Darryl is show what happens when you start going back to domestication. Janeaway’s little the wicked witch in Hansel & Gretel - they’re dangling in front of each person what they want most. Happy, normal kids for Rick, a motorcycle for Darryl, a chance to put the sword down for Michonne. Through the interviews Janeaway’s found their weakness. I think they’re stronger than their weaknesses.

Cool.
Getting back on topic…
Did anyone notice in the last scene, just before Rick walked over to the wall, there was a street sign behind him. Name of the street? MORGAN.
And a little nitpick…the overhead shot of the walker on the other side of the wall showed an open field behind him. When the camera pans back and shows just Rick against the wall, you see another building directly on the other side, meaning it’s right beyond the wall.
I think there was another shot in the episode where the top of another house was visible beyond the wall. Do we know they walled in the entire community, or could some houses have been left outside the wall due to resources or time?
There is the house just outside the wall where the girl was seen in the window by Carl.
Yes, there was at least that house that was right outside the gate. I noticed the roof of that other house over the wall where the walker was; seemed to me the overhead shot was a little too tight to specifically rule out the possibility of the building being there (I actually rewound to check, since I thought the same at first). I figure, fanwanking here, that they only had so much “leftover building materials” to make a wall out of, so they took measurements and made some kind of decision about how much, and which parts, of the subdivision they could actually enclose with the materials they had. Nothing wrong with that, but as I think someone else mentioned earlier in the thread, it seems like they should have at that point cleared everything away from the outside (good source of more spare materials there, too). Yes, they have real-life limitations of filming in an actual neighborhood, but you’d think if there wasn’t supposed to be another house just on the other side of the wall there, it would be ridiculously easy to get rid of that roof with CGI or plain-old compositing or something.
What if Tuvok got bit?
“I must control my hunger…”
It appears that the town was zombie-proofed. The Alexandrians don’t seem to understand the dangers that some living humans can present or will stoop to. They’ve led a rather sheltered life.
No one is manning the tower 24/7.
No one is walking the perimeter, inside or out.
Outside buildings are too tall.
Outside buildings are too close to the wall.
Wall supports are on the outside.
Brush and trees are too close to the wall.
There should be a 2nd outside wall with a no-man zone in-between.
Oh yeah, I had forgotten the phone craziness. It’s hard to say how sane he is now - we’ve kind of assumed that he got better after his fugue state, but maybe not so much.
With a moat with frickin’ sharks in between the walls.
Alligators and piranha.
This has been driving me crazy. The town is not even close to zombie proof. Have you seen how high the gate is above the road? A crawling zombie could easily get in. Plus, if there was a breach of the wall by zombies, which could happen if a horde passes through (and we know they do migrate), there are no secondary defenses on the actual houses. There should at minimum be some way to secure the lower level windows and doors.
Even if the walls hold up to a horde, their pantry looks awfully bare for the number of people they’re supporting. Every house should have a secured garden and they should all be busy stocking up for the winter, and for the eventuality that the resources within easy reach will be gone soon. There is no way on earth that the NOVA area was evacuated that thoroughly. Hell, we can’t even get out of town on a Thursday. Plus, the DC area and the Pentagon are a natural draw for people looking for answers or evidence of civilization rebuilding (like our intrepid heroes). What about zombies crossing over from MD and DC? This bit of hand waving is just maddening.
Rewatched the episode tonight and noticed for the first time the weird prevalence of ginger/redhead/auburn/strawberry hair at Alexandria. Seems like they’re mostly in the red range. Wonder if that was intentional.
Here are some handy reminders:
Rick, the one-man conference call.
Rick “Can I Hear Me Now” Grimes.
Rick Grimes, Full Metal Duplex.
I disagree, I think Daryl is the perfect candidate. He’s proven that he can take care of himself both physically and emotionally, almost better than anyone else in the group (possibly Michonne competing), and he likes to be alone and is comfortable alone.
Whoever is still out there is going to be hardened, untrusting, and possibly beyond trusting themselves, and I think Daryl is more equipped to handle tough groups. Aaron got lucky (or not?).
Also, the W is from the Wiltshire community, no one seems to remember this? When they ran into the truck with the cut-in-half walkers, they all had Ws on their foreheads. Not sure what it means yet, but I’m pretty sure that W is from Wiltshire. What’s plaguing me is how a walker made it that far.
Daryl screams “Deliverance.”
“Y’all got purty lips, wanna join us?”
I suspect making Daryl a recruiter is Aaron’s sneaky way of maybe getting Darly to take a bath and act a bit more human.
Daryl’s instincts about whether someone is trustworthy would be valuable, but Daryl is no ambassador.
So I read this whole thread. Can we please talk about the younger girl who climbs the wall and sneaks out? And what about Rick’s missing pistol?
How can they expect to be safe talking amongst each other in the EXACT SPOT that his pistol was taken from?
I’m thinking that younger girl is an informant, or something. (I know this was the previous episode, but this should still factor into a discussion on the future of Alexandria.
Also, this show’s dialogue really bothers me sometimes, like Beth telling Don “No one is coming, no one is coming.” Tell her WHY no one is coming, Beth. Tell her how long you’ve been out there, how much you’ve seen. UGH.
As far as I remember, Carl hasn’t mentioned that he saw the girl climb the wall? VERY unbelievable, Carl would report that immediately.
Carl has a hormone problem as far as she is concerned.
:dubious:
I thought that was a little dumb. Obviously that spot is compromised.
I doubt anyone is spying on them though, except for Carl’s PTSD girlfriend.
