The Walking Dead; 6.16 "Last Day on Earth" (open spoilers)

Post 75. And it’s open spoilers for the episode the thread is about, not every other event that might happen.

FTR, I spoiled that detail for myself so, it doesn’t make a difference to me. But others may not feel the same way and it’s obvious that yes, the comics are the origin of almost every plot.

No. We can shit on the writers for:
deciding that they can now haul a bedridden Maggie through the woods in the dark a distance that was so far away that there are multiple routes to drive there.

giving the Saviors the magic power to know that Rick & co would be travelling in the winny (although from Carol’s run-in last week, those checkpoints might always be there). Or that they can find them on food on some random route through the woods?

And 16 on 5 are now “unacceptable odds” for Rick’s crew? Carol killed like 5 people by herself. And these idiots are standing there right out in the open. I mean what would have happened if the 5 of them ran out of the winny spraying the roadblock with automatic weapons fire?

As for the “who”, does anyone not think that Spencer is the “red shirt” in this crew?

Did anyone catch the lame Glenn fake-out where he tried to protect Maggie and Negans like “no…not you”.

Spencer stayed at Alexandria, Aaron is the one with the crew. And i think Rosita is just as expendable.

I was thinking about the use of spears by the folks at Hilltop – I would enjoy seeing more use of spears and similar non-gunpowdery weapons. They would make excellent silent weapons against the undead!

Some of us have not read the comics. Anything from the comics should be in spoiler boxes.

Haven’t you learned your lesson about spoilers yet? There is no way of knowing what will or will not be used in the future from the comics. Please don’t spoiler things from the comics.

What about Enid? Will someone let her out of that closet?

I didn’t, nor have I even read them. But I don’t see how anything that happens in them could be considered a spoiler for this show, which is only somewhat based on them.

I’m aware of what I said (since you referred to post 75, which I made). My question is what exactly was spoiled? That there are other people out there? That there’s another society? If you (collectively. Not you specifically) thought these were the only two groups of people, then there’s no help for you. What have I spoiled?

Yes, the comics are the origin of many of the plot lines. But not all. Darryl isn’t in the comics. Lori escapes the prison, and is killed when she’s shot from behind (killing Judith, too).

There was nothing in that post that could even be considered in the neighborhood of a spoiler. Other people exist. Our gang will meet some of them.

If a mod thinks I stepped over the line, I’ll gladly apologize. But I don’t see the infraction that you do.

In the second-half premiere, Daryl used the grenade launcher to start the blaze that drew the walkers out of Alexandria. I don’t recall if they had two RPGs or three, or for that matter whether Daryl fired once or twice at Alexandria. But I don’t think that they have any ammo for it left, and even if they did, I don’t think it would be enough to matter.

When Carl was locking her in, my first thought was that he would somehow get her killed. In retrospect, locking her in was the nicest thing he ever did for her.

Just don’t talk about the comics. Period. If you want to compare the comics and the show, post here.

Common courtesy, dude. Common courtesy.

Not comparing anything. I supplied the answer to someone’s question.

Fuck it. It’s beneath me. I didn’t spoil a goddamned thing. You’ve obviously deluded yourself into thinking that I did, but if you’re so asshurt over something this fucking petty, the problem lies with you, not me. I’m out of the conversation at this point. I have a lot better things to do than listen to you bitch over some perceived slight.

HEY, writers! Daryl was shot last week. Could you spare a minute to explain if he was shot in the hand, forearm, upper arm, or shoulder? Is he ever going to play the piano again?

I do not like the Negan character. He can’t die soon enough. He reminds me of Stalin. Or Hitler. Or one of those jihadi terrorists who enjoy making speeches before they murder defensless captives. Welcome to the Modern Middle Ages where warlords, Dukes, Earls, and Princes rule their domains thru terror, intimidation, murder, and theft. Until a larger, better equipped army conquers the conquerors. Will there ever be another Magna Carta Libertatum?

Last episode, Morgan and Rick mentioned that the Savior outpost was West and Carol had headed East. But the Saviors who encountered Carol were coming from the East and heading towards Alexandria? How far does Negan’s control extend? How far east would Rick’s group have to travel to avoid further interaction with the Saviors? (This doesn’t seem to be a concern of the writers but I’m curious.) Of course, only Carol, and maybe Morgan, know that the Saviors have already scouted Alexandria.

I believe Carol wants to die at the hands of the living and she can’t/won’t commit suicide. Morgan’s gonna have a full time job keeping Carol alive.

How many road blocks does Rick’s group have to encounter before they realize that the Saviors are well prepared for their next encounter with Rick’s group. That the Saviors know in advance where they are headed? Did they forget that the Saviors have radio communication? How many warning shots have to be fired in the air, or at their feet, before people realize they are being herded and maybe it’s time to retreat and regroup? Sorry Maggie.

(Lennie James sits a horse really well for a knocked-kneed London Brit who The Talking Dead claimed never rode a horse before.)

Is this new group of horse people (for lack of a better term) doing business with the Saviors, or are they large enough, or well equipped enough, to fend them off?
So who was killed by Negan? Not Carl or Rick. Negan said if anyone interferred with the beating, the Saviors were supposed to remove Carl’s eye and feed it to Rick. That would be difficult to do if Negan were beating either one of them. All of the other captives seem to be expendable, including Daryl “I’ve got my own biker show in the real world” Dixon. (Neither executive producer, Gimple or Kirkman, seemed to like the idea of talking about Norman Reedus’s new show while on TTD. Just a thought but Reedus could have been injured during the filming of “Ride with Norman Reedus” which would have screwed up the filming of TWD.)

What really matters is if you feel lucky - well, do you punk?

It’s a simple enough concept really, understanding that many people don’t follow the comics and don’t want to know details from them that may or may not be adapted to the show. But if you want to throw a bitchfit and storm out of the room…

When I saw the ad during the show for Norman Reedus’ new show, that made me feel pretty much like Daryl was a goner. But who knows?

Television shows used to be (in the USA) something like 24 episodes per year, routinely. But that doesn’t seem to happen anymore. Reedus’ show may be only six or eight episodes in length----filming in the hiatus for The Walking Dead.

That would be a fairly common way of doing things, these days. So I’m not sure it makes sense to let his having a show affect the odds of Daryl being the Lucilled one (odds I’d put at ‘zero,’ personally).

Yeah, pretty much any of them can go.

I wanted to see him knock the horse out with the stick.

Though he appears to have gone back to the pistol.

Norman Reedus new show is a six episode reality travel show. They literally could have filmed it in a couple weeks. It means nothing to TWD, but that doesn’t mean he’s safe either.
