The Weather Forecast MMP

Quit picking on the weathermen. It’s my dream job; where else can you be wrong half the time & not get fired?

Well, I am always happy to receive something that is ooh shiny. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have been on this roller coaster for 2 1/2 years now, and I’m thinking that it’s never going to end. :frowning: My 21 yo niece had surgery this week, they cut her from sternum to pelvis and removed a 16 pound mass. We are waiting for the pathology. The drama stemming from my brother’s passing is ongoing. My mom still won’t take her meds and so we are dealing with hepatic encephalopathy, which is all kinds of grins and giggles. Not.

I enjoyed having my oldest kid, her husband and kids here. They moved into their new home last week and it’s very quiet here now. The dogs and cats are not missing my grandkids at all though!

It’s very warm for this part of the country, doubly so for my Alaska-thickened blood. I think tomorrow my son, #3 daughter and I will head out on a drive in search of a river bank. We will head up Stevens Pass, one of my favorite drives in the mountains.

Anyway, hey mumpers, I miss you guys!

Thought prayers and good wishes headed your way {MR} sorry I can’t remember your nickname!

I am so looking forward to Friday. Crazy week including tomorrows all day conf call.

((((Moreland)))) I hope things get better fast!
I have internet now! The guy came in the last half hour of the appointment window and it took two hours to run the cable, but I have internet!

No wireless until I get a router, and the cord isn’t very long, but both of those are easy fixes.

And my boss kept me till the last minute and I brought work home, but that’s minor (move a couple of files from the video camera to a thumb drive).

I’m wiki! Or kai, whichever you prefer. I used to be kaiwik.

Thanks for the prayers/wishes, mmms and shinycat. I try to stay positive, but sometimes it’s just overwhelming. I’m afraid things aren’t going to get better for a while, mom is terminal but she could hang on for who know’s how long. It’s just really hard to watch her (and stepdad) decline, and to deal with their mental deterioration. I’m not whining today, the fact that I am posting indicates a fairly good frame of mind.

I have chicken strips thawed for dinner, I had thought to cook them up in an alfredo sauce and add pasta but it’s too warm for all that heavy food. I think I’ll grill them and make salad. I know there is ice cream in the freezer, and root beer floats are sounding nice and creamy and cool for afters.

In other news, the neighbors have acquired a 10 month old Great Dane puppy to keep their husky company. He is already huge and lets out these big old “woofs” every now and then, he is so cute! The husky is feeling better, she is no longer laying next to the fence and howling out her loneliness, poor thing! The pommies are having a lot of fun telling them off regularly, lol!

Guess I must be getting psyched for going back to work - I couldn’t fall back to sleep after my sweetie left. In fact, I said to him “I won’t be able to do this much longer.” I thought I was talking about in a few weeks, not a few minutes…

{{{kai}}} You do have your ups and downs, and judging by the number of downs, you’re due for a few ups any time now. Might be a good time to buy a lotto ticket.

I’m thinking today I’m going to sketch the layout of my kitchen cabinets and go over to a local kitchen remodel place to find out what new counter tops would cost. I don’t want granite, but I was thinking quartz might be nice, or even corian. All I know for sure is I want the laminate gone and I need a new sink. We bought a composite acrylic sink because the color matched our appliances and it was nice and deep. But the stupid thing chipped within a few months and it’s close to impossible to keep it clean - every little thing seems to scratch and stain it. I’m going back to stainless - it’s durable and easy to scrub. Plus it turns out I don’t need the super-depth.

Anyway, that’s today’s big plan. **FCD **is leaving early this afternoon to go help our daughter in her classroom. He’ll probably be late for dinner - I asked him to call before he leaves VA and I won’t start cooking till then. I could have a long day of lazy or not - we shall see.

Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 93. Still not too bad for August in these parts.

{{{wiki}}} hang in there. We’ve missed you too.

Yay for shiny new intartoobz ShinyCat!

flytrap a blender? A toaster? A new iron? A vacuum cleaner? A tiara? Hope that helps.

Now I need more caffiene and should feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Maybe everybody will behave today. Dare I dream.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Flytrap, I second the tiara idea. Or maybe a chainsaw?

How about a tiara shaped like a chainsaw?

Never mind - I’m a lousy gift-giver…

{{{{{Wiki}}}}}, d00d(ette)…

Blurf.

flytrap - Go To Jared! (do they even have those in the mid-West?)

Perhaps shoes and contraceptives…

I was just thinking: what would I want for a gift? Honestly, I’d be thrilled to death if someone got my car detailed. I don’t generally like when people give me things because they rarely know my tastes or preferences (witness the numerous small appliances I’ve been given over the years that have long since gone to Goodwill.) Clothing is really tough - sometimes even I don’t now what I like. Jewelry or purses or perfume - save your money.

But to have my poor little car cleaned inside and out with a good coat of wax to boot - that would make me really happy.

I’m not a girly-girl, in case someone hasn’t figured that out yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

flytrap shoes and contraceptives? If you set the bar too high you’ll have an even tougher time figurin’ out an anniversary gift.

I need to get busy but I don’t want to get busy. Well, tough bear! Get to irk! Right now! I mean it! March yourself in there and get busy this instant! Don’t give me that look! You want your face to freeze like that? Now march in there and not a peep until you’re done!

Sometimes I need to motivate myself. However I also tend to ignore myself so we shall see.

So, flytrap, not missing anything today, are you?

I ask, because my whine was rewarded last night with 2-5 inches of rain and an extended thunderboomer all night long. I ended up having to put on my napmask so I could sleep through the lightning. Even then, the thunder woke me more than once. Hopefully things will cool off a bit today as a result.

So, while you may be feeling empty and lifeless, flytrap, I really appreciate it.

swampy, I’m sure any of us would be more than happy to prod you with a pointy stick, a stern look, or a wet trout upside the haid - you have only to ask! That’s the sort of thing you do for friends.

He explicity mentioned the latter. I thought it was well known that buying appliances as gifts pretty much ensures that certain events leading to conception will not occur.

So, Spidey what you’re sayin’ is a new waffle iron will not lead to “appreciation”, right?

Depends on how much one like waffles…

Off to talk to peoples about countertops.

I like waffles, but not that much.

I am feeling majorly ick this morning for some reason. I’m working on a lunch but I had to stop and take a break. I’m hoping it’s just because it’s kind of warm in here today.
