Happy Turkey Day!!*

Dayam! that’s impressive!

 • blatantly swiped and claimed as my own. I am shameless.

Second on five!

…I got nothin’.

Swampy is that just one teaspoon per pot full? Need answer fast.

I think Older Sister is trying to volunteer me to make something crocheted for her SIL. Fortunately I like her SIL so I wouldn’t mind making it if I am indeed being volunteered for it.

Pieage complete, currently in testing…

Maybe I put a little too much sugar in, but it’s pretty damn nommable.

Better than the ‘sweet potato mash’ the landlord’s friend had at a ‘diversity’ night, where they’d tried to make a dish from loads of different countries.

It was…drumroll
Mashed potatoes, with sugar.

Crunchy sugar.
Rosie, it’s OK if you swipe it and claim it as your own. That’s what I did.

All of the stuff I planned to make is either done or in the oven. Pumpkin chiffon pie is in the fridge, happily resting. I’ve got corn casserole, banana bread and pumpkin bread in the oven right now. It all smells really good!

I talked to my mommy this morning and she’s agreed to cover the dentist’s bill. I hope it’s something that has an easy and quick fix. Of course, the easy and quick fix tends to be the most expensive. I’ll see what I can do tomorrow and what I can safely postpone until I qualify for dental insurance in March.

Happy Turkey Day :gobble gobble:

I went to the Georgetown Medical Center yesterday to start the transplant scoring process. Most of the doctors wondered out loud why I was there, my answer was that my referring Gastro doc wants me in their system and on their personal radars. They were cool with that.

The big surprise was that the docs are stumped by my case. I developed sclerosing cholangitis way too fast for a stereotypical instance, and they think it may be an injury instead of an autoimmune problem. If it is an injury, surgical repair of the blockages would be possible in the right circumstances, and it won’t recur. An autoimmune cause would mean I could have some temporary relief, but the blockages would still occur as the SC progresses.

I will have yet another MRI in the near future, but this one would be a complete liver mapping, and will determine if I can be repaired with some vascular surgery instead.

In the meantime, I will get a preliminary scoring Tuesday. I’m expecting a low score and a deferred status because I’m not that bad at the moment. Although I did tell one doctor I’d let him do a transplant without anesthesia if it would make my itching stop

Truly this is a culinary wasteland.

emails you real collards and proper orange sweet potatoes

A very happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate, and happy Thursday to others.

It is a sunny day here, and the temps will warm up to 60, so fairly nice weather for late November, if I do say so myself. Pumpkin pie was made yesterday, sweet potatoes were roasted earlier today and now the green beans are being blanched. We’re using fresh green beans and oh boy, do they smell good! My apartment complex had some turkeys they were giving away to the needy; apparently, they must have had too many, because they brought one to us yesterday morning. We did not apply for it! And it’s a big bird, too; probably 16 lbs. or so. It is still frozen solid, though, so will become either Christmas dinner, or dinner and many leftovers sometime between now and then. Good, though, because I -love- turkey and it will not go to waste. The turkey we’re having today is already cooked!

YUM!

Our meal was good as usual and as there only two of us we have plenty of leftovers. I made cranberry sauce from fresh berries. Very easy and so good.

We are now ready for the post turkey nap.

Butters this may now be useless info, but I use just a scant tsp of sugar in a pot of collards. Again, it cuts down some of that bitter taste collards can have.

The Turkey Day feast is over and done at da cave. Much merriment, laughter, and face stuffin’ ensued. The best part is there are some, but not a ton, of leftovers. We have enough stuff for a meal or two plus some turkey, dressin’, cranberry sauce and gravy for sammiches, my favorite thing to do with TD leftovers.

Hope everyone has had a good day!

swampy - I’m guessing DQ didn’t show up?

Ah…do you recall the “Mr. Turkey” he was talking about?

:dubious:

Midget apparently DQ really does have enough sense to realize when he is not welcome. A couple folks here hadn’t heard about this and were quite amused by the fact that he attempted to wrangle an invite to a place where he was once thrown. Besides, if we wanted dinner and a show, we’d just pop a dvd in the player.

flytrap Mr./Ms. Turkey was a very welcome presence today. He/She was so adorable we all just ate him/her up!

Survived work. IO was alternately boring and busy. Making some Thanksgiving style dinner.(Green beans with mushrooms, rice, jellied cranberry sauce, herbed chicken.)
A classic Thanksgiving cartoon I did

Thrown? Out or against the wall?

: crosses apprpriate and inappropriate appendages for BBBobbio :

To the wolves. :stuck_out_tongue:

Home - whew!! It was loud and crazy at Mom’s, as usual. My sister loved the scooter, and those of you who friended me on FB can see the pic of her reaction.

Higgs does not like riding in the truck - she was shaking like crazy when we started out. I put her pillow on my lap and she eventually lay down on the pillow with her head resting on my arm when she wasn’t looking out the window. I drove home, so she sat on FCD. Now she’s happily curled up on an afghan. And Taz is across my arms. **FCD **is watching Dallas lose. It’s good to be home!

:dubious:

Your secret is safe with us.

Tahred. Gonna recline. MWAH!
