"The world's goin' to hell but I'm still here" MMP

Goo is a beautiful cat flyboy. :skritches:

nut, I say get the fabric. My sister is currently restoring a baby quilt that my great grandmother made for me as an infant. Fifty-mumble years later, the sentimental value is worth the piece being repaired (it was used on a daily basis for a lot of years, as it would fit the top of a twin bed). Your nibling will value it later.

Up and caffeinating. I made sweet potato hashbrowns to go with breakfast and grated enough for tomorrow’s breakfast as well. They were yum! Shoveling the trash out of the car, picking up a prescription and taking a box of stuff to Goodwill are on the agenda today. The rest of the day will be spent finishing up the entries on the spreadsheet / scanning my tool file in the studio with a trip to the dog park to take a break. That will complete phase one of the project. Then I’ll play with something creative for a bit before beginning phase two (this should be a four phase project).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Attempting to get my brain booted before trekking out to Colma (near enough to San Francisco that I dread the traffic). DH will be doing the driving, TYVM. I do not do traffic THAT heavy, it’s scary for someone with not the best depth perception. I think other vehicles are closer than others think they are (I’m told that iffy distance judgement is not unusual in people as near-sighted as I’ve been since childhood).

I don’t think I have much else on today’s agenda unless the Jungle gets my shelves to me.

I gotta leave for work in 10 minutes. Still in my jammies, haven’t eaten. Massive case of the donwanna this morning.

Tis pouring here, supposed to be all day, so perhaps a day of sloth.

I’m realizing I don’t have enough lights in my house for daytime when it’s relatively dark outside during the daytime. I know that doesn’t really make sense, but I’ve got plenty of light when it’s actually night, but a dim day seems too dark indoors.

Might make a grocery run. Might not, time will tell.

Stay safe, all!

Happy Saturday!

Nice morning at the park. I’m surprised not many showed up. Basically, just our core group of regulars, plus our weekend regular. So, six people and seven dogs.
Relaxing for me as Echo doesn’t show her ass with any of them.
Supposed to get a mess of rain later today, and then the temps are going to plummet. I hear the temps could drop into the 30s tonight, although my phone app says 50s.

The lawn guy is supposed to mow this morning, if he gets here before the rain.
He’s doing several houses in my block this morning, which works nicely for him. He can park on my pad and everybody is within walking distance.

Once the dishwasher gets done, I’ll start on the laundry.
The house needs some straightening. I’ve been lazy.

Goo is a cutie.

Mowage is done. There wasn’t a lot of grass, but I wanted to get the leaves mulched up before the rain hits. Next time I mow, I need to drag the sucker behind - Maybe next weekend, but probably not till we get back from FL, which means there will be a metric butt-ton of leaves on the ground. Dammit.

I’m lunching right now, then I’ll head out to the greenhouse to set things up for winter growing. Not sure if I should have both light and heat all night or have the lights on during the day and the heat at night. I need to see if the heater has a actual thermostat or just Hi-Lo-Off.

Rain is supposed to hit here around mid-afternoon, at which point, the temps will start plummeting. But it’s supposed to warm up again next week. Weird, weird weather…

Better finish eating before I lose my motivation.

I got sent to help with Irregs. Then they ran out of room on the Irreg rollers up front so they had to put then them a back trailer. So they let all of them run to where I was at the end. Along with ALL the other ones that should have gone on the train. I was not happy.
But I’m off and laundering.

: waves in Brown :

Colma? That sounds ominous. :frowning:

I need to hang the curtains in my bedroom today. I’ve had them up with a pressure rod for 2 years, but it’s time to drill a few holes. I also need to brainstorm dinner and get some groceries. Off to feed the dogs and locate more coffee.

Happy Sattiday!

Finally convinced Pixel this morning that it was Saturday, and therefore my remaining in bed until 6:30am wasn’t going to make me late for work. Breakfasted on my usual Saturday repast of machaca & eggs, then did some yard work. Only thing really on the schedule for today is a delivery from the Jungle, so I’m going to make myself a Bloody Mary and devote the day to Sloth and Bloat. Then make chili this evening. Happy Saturday, peeps!

Alright, I dragged my sorry ass in to irk. I’m working two jobs, apparently - one of the other girls is rather magnificently hung over, so I’m kinda babysitting and taking over for her here & there.

We finally re-opened inside, so at least a couple of bucks floated into the tip jar.

Handyman never showed yesterday. Annoyed about that.

I just made and et a sausage and cheese omelette not knowing it was already 1PM. No plan for the day. Gonna load up the dishes I just used and run the dishwasher. I need a few things from the store but that may not happen. Nap will happen. I should get out of the house but not feeling it today.

Happy weekend.

The greenhouse is all set up - for now, my main concern will be tweaking the heater so it maintains about 70° when it gets cold. Depending on how cold, I may have to lay another layer of plastic over the structure - we shall see.

I also remembered to water my planters on the front porch. They’re under roof, so they don’t get watered when it rains unless the rain is horizontal from the west. And the damned trees have dumped leaves all over the yard that I de-leafed a few hours ago. Stoopit trees… :stuck_out_tongue:

Got the lawn mowed, but had to go to the gas station first to get a little more gas. Both my gas can and the tank in the mower were bone dry. I bought just under 2.5 gallons. I know I’ll need to mow a couple more times at least and although I know I won’t use near 2.5 gallons, it seemed silly to get less.

I also hosed off my bird feeding station area and patio. I also put suet in the suet feeder. There was barely any left, so I figured I better get some in there.

I cleaned the kitchen this morning, so all I need to do in there is wash floors.

Obviously, the drive to Mt. Rainier didn’t happen and now that I’ve knocked some chores out, I’m kind of on a roll and want to keep going.

The avocado plant I didn’t want grew an inch yesterday. I’m supposed to lop off 2 inches now so it gets bushier, but I hate to do it after it worked so hard to grow. When did I get so ridiculously soft-hearted?‘’

UPS is the only carrier I like. Already said why I hate FedEx. USPS won’t climb stairs to deliver to my apartment door, even though if I lived in a house they’d climb more stairs than that if necessary. If a parcel doesn’t fit in the bin, I have to walk two miles to the P.O. and lug it home in my cart.

Flyboy, Goo is beautiful and looks very skritchable. Is there a story behind that name?

4:50 a.m. was my wake-up time for many, many years. Ugh. I never wake up that early any more. 7:30 or 8:00 is my usual now.

Huh. I wonder why that is. I was nearsighted as a kid, but maybe not as badly as you were? I didn’t start having trouble with depth perception until the first corneal transplant ended binocularity for me, but my brain figured out how to use other cues to determine distance…unless objects were close. Not sure why that is. Glad your DH will do the driving!

Taters, good on you for doing chores. I hope you get to go to Rainier soon.

Update on Anya the pup: I swear she’s an inch taller than when we got her on Sunday.

I won’t pick her up because she’s squirmy and I’m afraid I’ll drop her, but DR has more experience in handling such critters and scooped her up this morning.

“Doing it while you still can, eh?”

“I figure I’ve got about another week.”

If there is, we don’t know it. It’s the name she had when we adopted her.

Eons ago, we had a Great Dane pup - yeah, about a week!

It was windy like crazy and the sky got dark. Now it’s raining and the temp plummeted. The front has arrived. I just ran out and bumped up the temp in the greenhouse - I had the heater set too low, I guess. We shall see as the evening progresses.

OK, time to massage FCD’s knee, because I’m nice, dammit.

… and got strawberry syrup (with tons of red dye # whatever) on my jeans.

They’re soaking in the sink now, with copious amounts of liquid laundry detergent. Guess I’m doing laundry tonight.

I haz a cranky.

Afternoon all. Soccer was a madhouse today, it was team/individual picture day so besides the usual crowds we had teams coming in and out of the park to get their pictures taken. Still managed to coach three teams and get three sets of pictures done without conflict, so not a bad day…but on the fields constantly from 6am-2pm and that wore me down, especially as I hadn’t ate anything before leaving home. So after putting stuff away and changing closthes, I went to the Metro Diner for Meatloaf, fries and a salad, and added a piece of chocolate cake to the order because it had been to d*** long since I had chocolate cake. So home now and the battle with not falling asleep to early. Taking the soccer kids (those that want to) to see a College soccer game tomorrow, so that will take out the afternoon. At least the weather is supposed to be great (70F and clear).

Have read all but too tired to retain it. Everyone have a great day.

Prescription has been picked up and a trip to the dog park achieved. There were enough puppers there with Nelson’s play drive that he had fun and got worn out.

I got sticker shock when we stopped at the BBQ down the street. A rib plate has gone up to almost $20! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: We hadn’t been there for a while and now, we’ll go to the really good place since it’s cool enough for me to leave Nelson in the car while I run in for pick up (no drive thru), they have better 'cue and sides and are less expensive.

We’ve both had naps and now to do something creative.
