The worst sandwich you can think of that someone might actually eat.

This was my favorite snack when I was growing up. Sometimes I’d add a squirt of French’s yellow mustard too.

I still make one every now and then purely out of nostalgia, but with proper mayo.

I made a hamburger and used donuts instead of buns. It wasn’t as good as I’d hoped

My mom once sent me to school with a tuna fish sandwich made with catsup instead of mayonnaise (or Miracle Whip). I think she ran out of mayo.

ETA: it was NOT good.

Sticking with the requirement that it’s something that someone might actually eat…

On the rare occasions that I have mixed cheese and citrus, it has not (IMHO) been pleasant. Basically, I find this combo provides a forcible reminder that cheese is made using rennet. A puke flavored sandwich just isn’t my thing - but …

I googled Cheese and Marmalade sandwich, and goddamn, there are people out there who eat that stuff. Therefore, let us up the ante and start with a cheese which doesn’t need citrus to remind us of its rennety origins. Wensleydale and Marmalade sandwich?

Nothing. Therefore I posit that the worst sandwich that someone might eat is on the spectrum between Cheddar and Wensleydale; plus marmalade.

Chedder and Marmalade toastie. (Note that the author claims to have also tested Wensleydale!)

Peanut butter and mayo.

My mother used to speak of someone she worked with in a factory who brought Vick’s sandwiches.

That is unspeakable lol!

I eat those from time to time.

I just saw a place in WI that serves up raw hamburger and raw onions on rye bread. I wonder if the trip to the ER is included in the price.

A terducken sandwich could be a little on the rich / cloying side too.

I was going to say “Shark Sandwich”.

Raw hamburger on a bun actually sounds good. What does pb and mayo taste like?

The mayo adds a little tartness to the sweetness of the PB. I also like to put PB on a hot dog and add a bit of sriracha. Smoky, sweet and spicy.

Yep. I took a buddy out to lunch one day, and he ate one of those.

Yeah. I have one exception-a BLT.

Yeah, that was more or less a tuna sandwich back in the day.

Getting back to the original post in this thread which cited combining spam with vegemite; I’ve actually done that. My family’s traditional sandwich use of spam was mixing it with velveeta, spreading on bread, and toasting it. After first discovering vegemite about 25 years ago and loving it, I decided to put vegemite on the bread first before adding the spam/velveeta spread.

It was too damned salty, even for me. (Yes, I tolerate more salt because I’m special as I have one gene for cystic fibrosis, which means that I don’t have CF disease but do excrete more salt in my sweat than typical).

I still love spam and velveeta once in a while, but not with vegemite.

Sriracha on a hotdog sounds pretty good.

PB & Sriracha (which Chefguy turned me on to) is indeed good. I also like hot dogs with mayo and Sriracha.

I do a mayo-racha mix for my fried egg sandwiches.

Strangely, I don’t use hot sauce on my fried egg (and SPAM®) sandwiches. Or mayo. Or scrambled egg sandwiches, or cheese omelette-and-bacon sandwiches for that matter. Weird, eh? I put Sriracha or Tabasco or Tapatio on everything else…

There’s something about the runny yolk/racha/mayo mix that is very satisfying.

Yeah, love the *mites and enjoy Spam (I got a can of gojugang Spam for Christmas from my brother), but just the idea of combining the two has me reaching for a quart of water. I’d imagine something sweet, like blackcurrant jam, going well with it, though. Or something sour. Just don’t double up on salt.

How do you use it? I don’t eat rice, because it makes me gain two pounds overnight. (Apparently, it’s only available at Coscto, in an eight-can package.)
