We only had nine show up last night, so we started fresh and tore through the first wing of ICC again. We also went out of our way to clear all the trash at the beginning, just for the extra rep. A couple people managed some upgrades (Muz got the nice tanking axe from Saurfang) so it was worth it. Plus, Justice Points.
We had gotten a late start so we didn’t have much time after downing Saurfang, but we got that miniboss before Dreamwalker and then made one quick attempt on DW. We failed, but it was the first time seeing that fight for a bunch of folks. I think the plan for next week is to extend the lock. I’m pretty confident we can get three or four bosses down next week (out of Rotface, Festergut, BC and DM) if we have a full group.
I think our problem on Dreamwalker was mainly that we didn’t nuke the burning skellies fast enough and they got off some group nukes. A bit more practice plus a full group of DPS would help with that.
Actually, IME of having been there for one expansion transition, the actual expansion itself is pretty smooth. That’s why they release these major patches *ahead *of the expansion–it’s sort of a shakedown cruise.
FWIW, IME it works best to kill Blazings > Supressors > Blisterings (Ranged) = Archmages (Melee) > Aboms. Kite the Blisterings, have one tank (with an interrupt to help) on Archmages, and have the other tank (with “good” AOE) on Aboms. Blazings and Supressors aren’t tanked. Oh, and the Blazings will keep running until they hit their primary aggro target, so having a tank taunt them and run to the middle of the room can get them better placed than if they hit someone who’s across the room from the rest of the raids.
Yeah, keeping the priorities in your head on a new fight can be tricky. (I usually cheat with an index card or a post-it. :D) Having one person watching for adds and calling them out, along with what side they’re on, also helps immeasurably, though I’m sure you’re doing that, too.
We also only had one RDPs, when you have people playing hot potato with such high priority targets on different sides of the room it gets time costly if they’re all melee.
I really ought to get my mage rolling again. I stalled for a long time at 65; I would log on, try to kill an elite naga in Zangarmarsh, get frustrated, and log back off. I made some headway last week and got halfway through 66.
Of course, with the way things are going, I’d only hit 80 just as Cataclysm hit.
Any new players or new level 80s or corrections that want to be included on the updated list? Post here to let me know! Here’s the the last updated list.
I put Kalathan down as tentative for Monday, but it’s apparently the motherboard that’s gone bad on my gaming PC. I can sort of play WoW on our laptop (if I crank the graphics settings down), but there’s no way I’m going to try to do a raid with it. So unless the repair shop calls on Monday and says that everything is fixed, I won’t be in the Monday night raid.
I’m pretty sure I marked Rahuul as accepted, but I may change his status to tentative. I forgot that I have to work all day tomorrow, which means in order to vote in the 2010 elections, I have to wake up much earlier than normal. I’ll try and get on tonight, but I can’t promise i’ll be there with certainty.
And I forgot that I had to get up early to take a cat into the vet for teeth cleaning tomorrow. So even if my computer’s repaired in time (which seems unlikely) there’s no way I can stay up late enough for a raid. So Kalathan’s definitely going to be a no-show for tonight.
