I’m gonna ask this again…why didn’t our guild get the credit for taking out Kel’Thuzad not just once, but twice? Were we supposed to have the entire raid group from the same guild to get the credit or is KT one slimely sucker to pin down on the raid achievement page?

Also…do we even have a chance to do the Weekly Raid in ICC, or not?

I’ve never had much luck with the guild tracker at Wow-Heroes. Guild Progress seems to work a bit better. Here’s the link for Burning Dog Legion:

http://wow.guildprogress.com/US/Cairne/Burning_Dog_Legion/Wrath_of_the_Lich_King

You can see it has BDL getting that boss down almost a year ago. They probably counted the total number of toons that were in the guild back then that had that kill, not necessarily doing it all together. I recall at least one run that had a decent number of guildies in it back then - I got the kill on 4/29/09, about a week before the guild was given credit by guildprogress.

Each guild tracking site has different rules about what constitutes a kill. Another one is guildox, but they recently removed all older content, and are only tracking ToGC and later, I believe. Wowprogress also only tracks Ulduar and newer, I believe.

As far as Marrowgar, you could always give it a shot, but you probably have a number of folks already saved.

Thanks, Jas…now I know why it seems a little confusing.

Yeti, I was wondering the same thing - I looked at wow-heroes last night and wondered why we didn’t get the kill.

As for Marrowgar, I’m already saved, unfortunately. But if we wanted to plan to do the weekly quest each week in addition to our scheduled raid, I could wait and do it with the guild. I just didn’t think we’d be tackling it this week. I’m kind of excited to to EoE tonight.

Nice job on EoE. It was relatively painless on that last attempt

Great runs last night guys. We wiped once on Sarth+1 (I’m not entirely sure how), but came back in and decimated him the next time through. Then, we flew off to EoE to take on Malygos. We wiped several times (all but once during Phase 3). Our second attempt on him in phase 3 saw him fall down to 14k health before we wiped (so close). We wiped (well, all but 2 players, iirc) during Phase 2 the next time, and finally managed to take him down on our (I think) fourth attempt.

I really enjoyed last night. It was my first time doing raid healing (outside of tank healing Reins on the Four Horsemen in Naxx a few weeks ago). Definitely a whole different ballgame from DPSing as a moonkin.

Also, I earned enough badges from last night to finally afford the last piece of t9 resto gear for the 4 piece bonus, which I got to use when we did a 5-man daily (HoS) after the raid was over. It was sweet seeing my Rejuv crits tick for over 3000.

Because I wasn’t there. :frowning: I had other stuff to deal with, so I couldn’t show. Sadness.

Didn’t we just about have Sarth dead before he summoned the other drake? With that approach we should be able to do all the drakes (of course wiping right after Sarth is dead, which is what happened this time).

Grats on downing Maly, guys! I’ve had PUGs that couldn’t get him down when he’s the weekly.

Did anybody get their title? Which one is that–“Champion of the Frozen Waste,” I think.

I think about 3 or 4 of us did (including me) - there was some nice achievement spam when he went down anyway. I was among the early deaths during the 3 wipes (once even on phase 1), and never got very comfortable with the fight; could never seem to find the damn sparks to help dps them down, so finally i decided just to ignore them and concentrate on being a DPS bot; and then the flying dudes always seemed to be too far away from the bubble-domes for me to reach them. Finally in the vehicle stage I ended up way away from everyone else - they were about on a level with the boss but somehow I was directly above him - but that actually worked out okay; I was able to do my dps rotation and occasionally shift out of the poo, and not being in range of the healers wasn’t a big problem because I wasn’t really being hit either. But I never really knew what the hell was going on.

Are you playing with enemy nameplates enabled? If not, IMO, you should. Having a big floating bar above the name helps greatly.

On Maly specifically, you’ll also be able to tell which direction a spark will be coming from, because the star that’s spawned one will get much bigger and pulse-y. When I’m tanking Maly (and I fucking hate tanking Maly), I make sure to have my camera scrolled out to absolute max distance, so that I can constantly rotate it around to see where the next spark will come from (and pull him around the rim accordingly). As a DPS, it can still be helpful to know which way to be looking, though obviously not quite as time-sensitive, since you aren’t the ones responsible for making sure the spark is coming in at Maly’s tail instead of his head.

Yeah, we killed Sarth right as the drake timer hit. And then we wiped on the drake. It didn’t help that the loot popped up. People said they weren’t able to see what was going on. Not sure if we can do +2, but I’m willing to try

According to wow-heroes’ raid levels, next up is Ulduar. I’ve never been inside so I’m at a complete loss. Is it something we can piece together like the quarters of Naxx? Or do you have to do it all within one raid lockout? (Speaking of which, I noticed an “Extend lockout” button on my raid panel. Would this help us maintain our progress?)

Sorry I didn’t get a picture of our Maly kill, it was kinda hard with everyone still flying their drakes

Ulduar is both more and less linear than Naxx; there are some set paths, but there are also quite a few optional bosses. However, there is no way to “skip to the end,” nor would you want to; even on regular vs. hardmode, the final bosses are very difficult.

It’s certainly an option! You can choose to continue your progress from week to week. The only downside is that you then can’t go back and kill the earlier, easier bosses, which gives you an opportunity to gear up better to put you in a better position to kill the later ones.

So does it just extend the lockout for the raid leader? Because another potential issue is that if you extend the lockout, and then the weekly raid quest is for Flame Leviathan (or whatever), you’re SOL or at least have to find a 25 man raid to do it in.

We probably still have folks who will get upgrades in Ulduar, so we may not want to extend the lockouts until there are no more to be had from the early bosses. Tom has a good point about the weekly raid, too.

I’ve done two of the Ulduar bosses for the weekly quests (the Flame Leviathan, and… XT-002?) but that’s about all I know, and I’m still not quite sure what’s going on during the vehicle stage at the beginning. I don’t know of anyone in our guild who has much Uld experience, so we may just have to do our best to read up on it before hand and then learn as we go along.

I am rather hopeful about getting some of the tailoring recipes that drop in there (I think), even the items wouldn’t be upgrades at this point.

1.) Every person has to extend their raid lockout individually.

2.) You can extend your most recent lockout for a given raid at any time. You just can’t have been saved to a new ID–it’s at that point that you lose the old one. So the BDL can wait to see what the current week’s weekly raid is before deciding whether or not to extend the current lockout–it’s not a decision that has to be made before the reset.

I’m not sure this is correct, SFG. I know this week our raid leader extended the ICC25 lockout (to work on the LK on Saturday). I did not do anything, and when I zoned in everything was dead up to the LK.

To add another layer to it, after the raid (since we didn’t kill the LK) the raid lead unextended the lockout, and when we all zoned in on Sunday it was to a fresh raid.

So, only the person that creates the instance has to extend their lockout. The safest way to do this is for the raid leader to extend his lockout and zone in first.

Also, you are not saved to an extended lockout until a boss is dead. We have been using this feature to let us get in a full day of LK attempts without the pressure of having to kill 11/12 in 3 hours just to get there.

As far as Ulduar I’d say read up a bit and just go for it. The first wing isn’t that tricky, and it’s more fun (IMO) to learn the bosses as a group than have one person tell you exactly what to do and then do it. YMMV.

Yes, it was poorly phrased on my part. The emphasis I was trying to give was that while the RL must extent their lockout in order to zone into the previous week’s raid instead of a new one, that does not automatically extend everyone else’s. (What I mean is, if the RL extends and you don’t go along to that raid, you can still go to a new raid, even though you were part of the old raid ID that was extended.)

Especially when you have actual control of your mount! I had one or two wipes alone from the bug that didn’t show my vitals nor my mount’s attack bar. So I just flew around until I got downed. F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-N-G.

Uh, yeah…about HoS…I’m very sorry…I was the proverbial bull in a china shop. Next time, yell at me on Vent to get my attention…I was SO focused on killing slimes and not realizing that I was supposed to let them merge first into Iron Sludges before killing. I just read up on the whole achievement and strategy. Now I know better.

Yep…he/she was in the throes of death and the assisting drake “Day Late & Dollar Short” came in just when the loot panels popped up and started attacking and breathing (I assumed it was the breath that killed). I only got about 3 attacks in before I wiped.

ME!

Would the 2nd drake appear earlier or does Sarth have more HP or deals more damage from the 2nd drake being alive? We got the achievement just as Sarth died, so maybe we can pull it off by rapid burndown.
