Finally! I can’t believe I got this far in the thread before true cookie greatness was acknowledged.
Chocolate chip cookies need walnuts for true cookie perfection.
Crispy on the edges, chewy in the middle = cookie perfection.
Warm peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips come close to chocolate chip cookie perfection.
Oatmeal cookies are only worth eating when they’re still raw.
Agreed, although chocolate chip is a close enough second that we can forgive the error.
Raisins in cookies, however are an abomination. In the right place raisins are delicious, but in a cookie they’re as out of place as Clapton playing guitar in Beethoven’s 9th symphony.

The chocolate chip cookie is to the set of all cookie varieties what the peanut is to snack mix. It’s there to fill up space with something adequate while cutting down on the need to make all the much better varieties of cookie. Snickerdoodles, sugar cookies, oatmeal raisin… All rank higher than the basic, workaday chocolate chip cookie and it’s boring plain-ness.
Yeah, I think ginger snaps and snickerdoodles would be on my favorite list, although chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin aren’t far behind.
Only a heathen would prefer another cookie over the snickerdoodle!
I prefer white chocolate chip/macadamias to regular tollhouse, but what I really, really miss are the molassass cookies made by my grandmothers cook. They were soft, had raisins in them, and the outside top was leathery in look and texture, not dry like all the pictures of other molassass cookies online. No cracks, no oatmeal lumpiness, no flour crusting or sugar crunchies … sort of like a leathery flexible pepparkorkor or whatever those IKEA cookies are called.

Chocolate chip is ok, I guess. But my ginger snaps beat any other cookie on the planet, hands-down.

I love chocolate chip cookies, but I am also a big fan of the smiley face cookie as well.
I love me some molasses cookies, and I’m very fond of ginger snaps (I’m also pretty fond of Ginger Snaps, but that’s another story!), but, when all is said and done, the chocolate chip is the king of cookies.
