Finally got mine posted. Man this was a pain in the neck. I had more pics of the steps of my sweet potatoes but I was so tired of trying to figure out how to post that I gave up. I did end up managing to add one pic by editing my post after I sent it. For some reason I could not attach pics through hotmail, none of the links to attach anything would work.
I just posted, I had to change my user name.

Well, I haven’t posted yet since we’re in a huge ice storm with no power. (still have my phone going, though… Can’t lose touch with civilization!) I have a commission to weave a set of placemats in bright colors, so I rootled around in my stores of fabric and thrifted sheets, curtains, etc. to find the right colors and then spent the rest of the day using a rag stripper to turn them into piles of nifty strips. Luckily the rag stripper runs on elbow grease – sort of like a can opener-looking contraption. I was wanting to try out my brand new sewing machine, but even when we did have sporadic power, it was very flickery. Didn’t want to do some damage to the switch.

I thought I was signed up for this, but I will still do projects and post them on posterous.
One thing that might work for making our stuff search-able is to tag all our posts with SDMB. I did that on today’s post, so if anyone wants to try searching for it that way, maybe we could keep track of each other that way. I’m not impressed with the site organization at all.
Hm. Or maybe not, I’m not finding it by searching for that tag. What are tag supposed to do, if not make things more searchable?
Well, even with that address I’m not posting to the group blog, so I don’t know what the problem is. This is pissing me off – do not recall having problems like this last year. Oh well, I’m doing this for myself, so I guess it’s not the end of the world.
Anyway, today’s is up – didn’t turn out too well, but finding out that glitter glue isn’t a good medium for me is useful info in itself, I guess.

I’m also putting my stuff on my personal blog for my friends and family to see, because I’m getting so frustrated with the “official” site. Maybe it’s bigger than they can handle. Any ideas where we can all be posting our stuff to share so we don’t have to deal with Posterous? Maybe a Shutterfly “share” site or something we can all have access to?
Yes, the website is awful. The search function is non-functional. We could each post to our own little pages and then put links here? It’s kind of clunky. I also would be fine with doing a flicker or shutterfly group.

Here’s my newly created Posterous page - Le Ministre’s Posterous. It looks like I can post to Thing a Day and the Le Ministre site by just typing in two different e-mail addies on the same message.
We could form an SDMB Posterous page by adding all of our e-mail addresses to the same site. Or is that too much headache for everyone?
Apparently, one has to be very careful with editing Posterous - it just took me about 20 minutes to get it so that it doesn’t show my e-mail address to anyone who cares to look!

ETA: I’m not having a problem posting to my own site – just write the email with the text, insert the photo, send – my only problem is that I don’t seem to be on the main blog’s list as a poster. What exactly is causing people problems with posting?
When we were in the sign up stage I had checked the “subscribers” list off and on hoping to see familiar names but I didn’t even see myself. I noticed a lot of subscribers were just listed as “Thing-A-Day”. I checked my emails and you do have to click something in the initial email to finalize your subscription. After I did that I could see myself on the list of subscribers.
Guys . . . Unfortunately, I’ve received a ton of work, so won’t be able to continue every day. I’ll see if I can post things now and then anyway.
Yeah, If I had the email – I have a bad tendency to delete them. Will check later to see.
