It’s cool. But I still stand by it. Is it the fact that it’s a weird stereotype or the fact that it’s a stereotype at all that you take issue with? Because there are definitely some things that men of different races tend to be more into than others. I’ve always had long straight hair that I wear down, so of course it’s a kind of self-selecting group I’m going by, but that’s not all it is because they’re not so into most of my other features.
Black men who prefer natural black hair are probably better anyway, just to round out my controversial statements, but I don’t really get to date them now do I?
The world doesn’t need another “Stereotyping’s bad mmmkay?” lecture and the Straight Dope really doesn’t need another round of “Is it racist?” So let’s just ignore all that.
I am curious though. I’m a white dude, so what am I supposed to be stereotypically into more than men of other races?
The Beatles Get a Life
Alcohol-based hand sanitizers E.T.
Harley Davidson motorcycles
American football
Bon Iver
Samuel Adams beers (all but the seasonal cranberry lambic, which is awesome)
Oh I know what else: weed. Can’t figure out why all my friends love it so much and I wish I could because it’s better for you than alcohol plus no calories or hangover.
Just a product that I have never given a moment of thought to, and didn’t realize anyone else did either. So, it strange to see it on a list of “overrated” items, when I never knew it had been rated at all. Maybe just me.
