Things That Go Bzzzzz In The Night: A Ghostly MMP

We also turn out the lights and don’t hand out candy, because we’re curmudgeons. I’ll be happy when it’s over, because a nearby neighbor has a witch in their yard who cackles out a scary recorded message when a motion sensor is triggered. They’ve had it on for two weeks and it’s cackling all night.

Here at the office people are competing in our yearly costume contest. Several of the people’s costumes are based on television series or movies I’ve never watched, so the jokes are lost on me! But folks looked cute, anyway.

Hopefully they’ll let us go a little early tonight, because Halloween commute traffic is a bitch and I don’t want to get stuck in it.

But I bought my $6 worth of Powerball tickets and tomorrow morning will be shopping for homes in Bali and Paris.

It stopped raining, so I went on my walk. The tide high in and the wind is blowing, so that made for some nice waves.

I used the $6 from two previous mini-wins to buy my 3 quick-pick tickets. I’ll be OK with sharing the jackpot with you. And I’ll be shopping for a house on a large acreage that has a guest house close but not too close. Then I’d hire some folks to take the burden off MIL after we move them into the guest house. Then I’ll pay off my VISA.

Always cracked me up when winners of big jackpots mentioned paying off their credit cards. How much debt had they run up?!?!?

Supper was twice-baked spuds with sour cream, and sauteed mushrooms-n-onions on the side. Yum. Two loads of laundry are done, the third is in the dryer and the last is in the washer. So apart from some folding, chillage shall reign.

I won a whole 12 bucks in the last powerball drawing. Many years ago, I had 2 numbers right and the other 4 were one off.

Gotta think about something fer sup…

Th next door neighbor kids are setting out trick-or-treating. There’s 4 of them from age 12-ish down to 3. I see a tigger (oldest girl) and a Pooh (youngest boy) and some others I don’t recognize. Kinda cute, but I’m still keeping the lights off. I think they’re the only kids within a half mile.

Cute that GG has found the tunnel JtC. I’ve never met a cat that didn’t like a good hidey hole.

oopsie, Nelson has to work for most of his treats too. Usually, it’s along the line of give me 4, give me 4X4, sit pretty or shake. He does get a reward treat when we come in from doing his business.

My lights will be off tonight too for several reasons. I go to bed so cussed early anymore that a bunch of kids knocking on my door would have a scary looking me in pee-jays answering, plus, there really aren’t many kids in the complex. I did take some gummy bears down to the little neighbor girls this afternoon though.

As far as weird things around the house go, in the evenings, there is a vibration on the other side of the studio wall. I attributed it to my former neighbor likely having a massaging recliner up against the shared wall until he moved. Now, I just ignore it.

I heard back from the police department today. Apparently, the security cameras at Kroger backed up my report about RESERVE Officer Speedy annnnnnnd he wasn’t even from the next town over department, but the town police department in my town (my town PD was who got in touch with me). The spokesperson said that he would be required to take further training.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I was trying to remember anything weird in this house or a previous house.

When I was maybe ten years old, I was lying in my bedroom at night and I heard a stealthy scratching on the window screen next to my bed. It kept on and on. I was frightened and got up to look out the window. The noise stopped and I couldn’t see anything. I eventually tilted my head back and saw a big fat rat clinging to the outside of the screen overhead. It had seen me move and froze in place, which is why the scratching ceased. I yelped and went and got my dad, but when we returned the rat had vanished. He thought I had been dreaming, but I wasn’t!

Mrs. L.A. doesn’t have anymore leftover orange chicken, so I made some impromptu meatballs and ad hoc sauce and got the spaghetti squash with chunks of butternut squash out of the freezer. She might make a meatball sub.

Howdy Y’all! As predicted ‘tis been a day of high sloth, except I did remember I needed to get a ‘script refilled, so I donned appropirate attire for bein’ amongst the great unwashed and accomplished that. Other than that, nappage, day drinkin’ and sup filled in the day.

VanGo congrats on the job! May it be lucrative.

MOOOOOOM hope all goes as well as it can with BIL’s doc visit. Hope all goes well with FCD and the 'rents at the lawyer’s office. Now that you’re rich with Powerball winnin’s, when can we expect the chartered jet to whisk us all away to an exotic location?

pulley safe travels and you are a good man to go deal with the elders like that.

doggio don’t offer the good stuff. It’d just be wasted on the little whippersnappers.

quietly yay for Mango and his mad hunt skillz!

nellie hope all goes well with the surgery. Let us know when you are able to do so.

Boo now that it has been named by none other than Harriet, you have the oxygen concentrator you were meant to have.

sari YIKES! Yes, it was definitely time to move!

We are also among the curmurdgeonly no porch light to keep away the candy beggars people. Plus, there aren’t many in da 'hood, as far as I can tell.

Evening all. Never did make it to the gym, ended up taking a nap, guess this weekend wore me out more than I thought. Didn’t get the car unloaded but did do about 20 minutes of ‘pick-up-and-put-in-right place’ activity and also swept the leaves from the front door so it doesn’t llok to bad. About 6:10pm here and I’m expected the first candy-grabbers shortly (they’re probably eating dinner and getting ready). Outside lights are on, something that I seldom do.
(just had my first 2 T-n-T’ers show up-rewarded myself with a Kit-kat)

Take care all.

Right you are :+1:t2:

VBC likes to drag piggy or sock monkey around at night and scream her fierce hunting kitty victory song in the middle of the night. We always have to warn overnight guests that our cat won’t be dying in the dark.

Add me to the chorus of nellie well wishers.

Well, look at you go. You are already almost 18% finished!

The poor lil doofus didn’t seem to realize that if one kitty can run behind there, TWO kitties can run back there and the second one can tag the first one on the butt. He learned today, LOL!!!

Good for you for following up on that. Even if is training is just “don’t get caught again”, that will force him to slow down where people might see him.

Superman is at the door, laters

Up, and watching hockey. It’s raining, so I don’t think I’ll have Trick Or Treaters. For the 13th year in a row.
Sometimes I hear some electronic noises in my bedroom wall. I assume the CIA Mind Ray generator is recharging.

That’s why I said Jack, and not the Elijah Craig. :tumbler_glass:

I think she said women things. Maybe she’s having pockets installed? Hope it went well.

I think if I tried to make Ripple and Echo do tricks for treats, they would laugh in my face. It may be that they are too dumb to learn tricks tricks, but I suspect it’s because they know how to play me and know they’ll get the treats anyway.
My son tells me all the time to make them work for it.

I thought TorT would be over at 8, but there were kids still out there. In the rain.
According to the city, it’s 6-8, but of course nobody is going to enforce it.

Daily humor :trophy:!

I did Grandma duty handing out treats so Mama and Papa could take the grand kidlets trick or treating. I had 30 little tricksters, starting at 6:45, completely done by 7:30.

Not a single soul, I’m told at my house, but then I wouldn’t trick or treat in my neighborhood either.

Went Trick-or-treating this evening in Urbana, Ohio with our adult daughter. Stink bugs were everywhere. They were falling out of the trees and landing on me while I was trying to hold the umbrella. I hate those things.

I’m here–strung out on pain meds, but here. Surgery went fine. The pain isn’t fun, so I would never have been able to go home on the train. Son and DIL have been excellent caregivers. Dogs are banned from the living room because 2 of them want to jump on the sofa, which has me on it, so no dog therapy. :frowning:

I have read all, but all that stuck were FCM’s adorable grands. Tobias looks so much like Roxie when she was a toddler! And the Roxstar looks gorgeous!

Thanks for thinking of me ! :hugs:

Glad you’re home.

I managed to combine a trip to see my mother with a surprise visit to a friend’s book launch reading. Points for a grand cross-country gesture.

This is always good news. I hope the pain goes away soon.

We got more than the expected number of monsters tonight because we have two more families who feel obligated to drag their kids over to show us their costumes before going off for the real T&T. The grandmother who lives behind us drove over with FOUR toddlers in her car. That woman is always smiling, I really want to know what she is on.

The littles were really cute, they managed Trick or Treat and Thank You but seemed really confused as to why they couldn’t come inside and eat their candy while petting the kitty.

The lady with the newly disabled husband brought their two over and one of them was wearing a Charlie Brown ghost costume that he had made himself. I gave him extra candy because he also used colored sharpies to turn his sneaks into Charlie Brown shoes.

Hubs is a low carb, Atkins guy. He says he doesn’t like sweets, but he really does. He looked rather disappointed when we handed out the last of the peanut butter cups, so I gave him a bit of the white chocolate and macadamia nut bar I had hidden in the back of the freezer. (If I don’t see it, I probably won’t remember that it is there until an emergency happens, so I won’t eat it.)

Very cool! What sort of thing does your friend write?

Also, welcome home hippy, it sounds like you had a good time despite sleeping on the floor.

She’s a fiction writer. She happened to announce a reading a few days ago, so we just quietly showed up.

Nellie, I’m glad it went well.
