This Bud's not for you

My mother-in-law claims Budweiser and Pepsi put a couple of Arab shopkeepers out of business by pulling their products after a Bud deliveryman allegedly found the shopkeepers celebrating the day the WTC came tumblin down. There’s an e-mail going around about it, and when I consulted Snopes, sure enough, it’s a hoax. Problem is, Mom would rather believe the e-mail than Snopes. Anybody have any other links I can use to pooh-pooh this thing?

I doubt you’re going to find one- the Snopes page has a denial from the guy in charge of marketing Budweiser in that area and from Anheuser-Busch that this ever happened. If she doesn’t accept that, there’s probably not much that she will.

Has she said what would convince her that this never happened?

She hasn’t, but I suspect it would take the priest standing at the altar on Sunday morning – or the Virgin Mary coming to her in a dream. I dunno, there’s just this group of people who so badly want the “average American” to strike back. I honestly think stuff like this is going to get worse as the war in Iraq

What sort of shop was it? It seems a little odd that Pepsi & Budweiser pulling their products could actually put them out of business.

Actually the shopkeepers were on their way to Guantanamo Bay when a UFO abducted them into the Bermuda Triangle.

That might be you’re angle. Budwiswer and Pepsi arn’t “average americans.” They’re HUGE companies making alot of money, and they don’t make a lot of money but not selling their products to shopkeepers they don’t like on a pesonal level. Not only would that hurt their cause, it would help out Miller and Coke quite a bit I would think. I’m guessing this isn’t so much a case beleiving email over snopes, but rather just beleiveing what she heard first.
