My exercise bike is broke. A stupid little wire cable that moves the big magnet that changes the resistance broke. I replaced it once before, about 5 years ago. I actually bought a cable that was longer that I could modify to work 'cause Schwinn didn’t sell the original cable any more. Now I can’t get the modifiable cable any more either. If I worked hard at it I could probably jerry-rig a throttle cable from a lawn mower to work, sorta. Or buy another bike that wasn’t so poorly designed. Been reading the reviews of some exercise bikes on Amazon and I’m not very hopeful.
In the mean time I think I’ll go paint my file cabinet. I bought a new 2 drawer file cabinet at the end of last year to organize some of the ever-growing piles of paper around here. I put stuff in it, and then realized that the drawers don’t pull out all the way, so that whatever is put in the back of the drawers is forever UN-retrievable, unless you (or I) take the stuff in front out first.
So Friday I got around to doing something about it. I went over to the ReStore and bought an old 5-drawer file cabinet for $12.00! It’s an old one, so it’s made properly. Only thing is, it was beige and somebody painted the front of it white. But they didn’t paint the sides. Prolly 'cause they weren’t gonna be visible. Well, they’ll be visible where I’m gonna put it, so I’m gonna rattle-can the sides white.
Wifey is at another one of her [del] damn[/del] meetings tonight, so I’m on my own. I think I’m finally gonna eat that lonely salmon filet I found in the freezer. Just gotta decide on sides. :dubious:
I know what you mean red, I’ve saved the Yorkie’s bacon several times by pulling something out of his mouth that he didn’t want to give up. I suppose we’re even though. He saves me from being murdered by the mail man every day. Also that little Scotty dog from down the street, and kids walking to the library, etc. etc. Murderous scoundrels, all!
I had to smile when I read your post, Rex. ‘Paid commission’ and ‘theatre group’ aren’t words I’m used to seeing in the same sentence.
bumba, I know what you mean about saving my bacon. He [del]barks like hell[/del] protects me from the little girls across the chain link fence and the guys in brown when they deliver a package.
The only thing I found that works well on metal file cabinets is Rustoleum. Not the greatest choice of colors and the brush stuff works better than the spray but ------------
Auto paints are a possible but sometimes a crap shoot depending on the exact metal and what the last paint was.
(Dad had a damp basement and a love of file cabinets for EVERYTHING. I have painted more of the damn things in the course of my life than I care to admit.)
It is really not as exotic as it sounds, I am really not used to being paid for anything, artwise that I do. I am a serial volunteer, It’s just what I do. The theatre group came about because the Lil’wrekker was a member while in highschool, and of course I helped backstage then,so they know me and knew I was an artist! It pays to get around, it seems!
will it look like this after your cable replacement tinkering?
Also, Iffn you have an outside bike, look into getting a trainer for it so you could ride the same thing inside.
Although there are other options, I suggest “Left” & “Right”.
For the second day in a row, I have been in three states. No, not ‘awake’, ‘asleep’ & ‘active’, but three states on a map; well, technically, two states & one Commonwealth. Tonight I went to a meeting to find out what I already knew & to be politically correct & all.
Also ran into a hoard of ZOMBIES roaming their way thru Penn Station!!!
Seriously, there were about a dozen or more dressed up & dragging a leg around. Not sure iffn there was any reason for it or just to have fun.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 75 and N.O.S. Finally a Fall day in southwest Jawja! Today I shall do laundry. I have some errands I need to run so I might do that this mornin’ bein’ as it will be so nice out. We shall sup upon grilled ham steaks, succotash (flytrap’s favorite, wild rice and rolls. Easy and tasty just like the way I like my men.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify if I am to be about the public.
Thanks for everyone’ kind words about my job. I actually really like the place I work. Maybe in the spring I can apply for another position in our company. For now I’m just doing my best and hoping everyone stays safe.
I’m glad it’s not just me wondering what a ‘zarf’ is!
After getting all frustrated yesterday about driving 2 hours for a juggling club that turned out not to be on (see minirants), and having today’s plans somewhat scuppered by the rain (I was doing to do some site surveying stuff for a project, but it’s going to be too soggy to really do it), one of the guys from my old juggling club just messaged me saying he’s down here on holiday with his brother’s family, and would I like to meet up today. So yay, plans!
Raining again for the third day in a row. The vet is coming for Miss A’s fall shots so I took the day off to be at the barn. Dinner will be a fake chicken pot pie a la Sandra Lee, the semi-homemade queen.
'Tis 46 and gray at the moment in Orygun (I know, I know, y’all are shocked). Today I am taking Pepper pup to a doggy play place. She looked betrayed when I shut her in her crate for breakfast. I told her that today would be fun, but she didn’t believe me. Poor pup.
Penn has long been a popular hang-out for the NYC area zombies. Some of the Newark crowd who helped us with the Dorney thing used to dress and roam around there for no good reason other than they could. There have also been a couple major publicity zombie events held there. Monroeville Mall will boot your undead ass but New Yorkers seem to take it in stride.
a) a Blurf to the third power?
or
b) a Blurf in Klingonese?
The sun is out for the moment which allowed me to get some yard work done and laundry is underway. Oh – and rubbish is gathered. How I can break myself away from the excitement to go to work only time will tell.
