Nothing like starting the day with a rotting melon. blech We bought a cantaloupe the other day from an Amish stand and I left it on the counter to finish ripening. And I kinda forgot about it. This morning, I noticed it was oozing, and when I cut it open, it was all mushy. It’s now in the garbage and I am bummed. Stoopit melon. I may go get another today and try not to let it die.
**FCD **will be getting up in about half an hour and he’ll be on his way in an hour. There’s a ride out to western Md today. Once he’s on his way, I’ll put on some grubbies and spend a little time in the yard, but it’s already upper 70s and really humid out - not a good day for gardening. I supposed I could clean house… (look - I made a joke!!! )

The Grove Park Inn apparently forgot to turn the page on their calendar and set off their fireworks last night just as I was getting ready to go to bed. So I had to stay up until they were done, cursing the name of everyone involved. The city’s fireworks display is far enough away from me that it doesn’t really affect the neighborhood, but the GPI is a couple of miles away due east. My window faces due east. All the dogs in the neighborhood were barking up a storm. :mad:
Plus I have to work with the Ferret today. All day. :mad::mad::mad:

Da hood has party day today- it’s the annual carnival- though last years didn’t happen, because the olympics nicked all the funding. It’s glorious sunshine, and the reggae started up over an hour ago.
I can either sit in and grump about the noise all day, or go out and play, 'cos it won’t stop til at least 2am regardless. Methinks I should just go play

There’s ONLY a 40 percent chance of rain today increasin’ to 50-60 percent late afternoon/early evenin’. We just might get in some cee-mint pond time!

Spousal unit is gone. I think I’ll don some grubbies and weed for a little while. I need to wear gloves because I saw some poison ivy in one bed. I HATE that stuff!!!
I know people in this city who won’t even walk through this area in daylight- except carnival day, when it’s seething with police. I do think these people are a bit silly, but it is a pretty ahem interesting area.
Anyway, today its main problem is that it’s roastingly hot, so I’ve come home for a bit to cool down and get more drinkies.
Today I have managed to do nuttin’ pretty much so far. Guess I should get back at it cause it want get not done all by itself now will it!
My mother-in-law passed away yesterday. We weren’t there with her, but my mother was. I’m so glad someone was with her.
I’m thankful she isn’t suffering anymore. By Thursday she was pretty much unresponsive and by 3:30 yesterday morning, when the Hospice called us, she completely stopped responding to voice and touch. She passed yesterday afternoon.
So much to do, and it’s all completely overwhelming.
For the moment, I’m just drinking some coffee and trying get ready to face the day.
