Could have literally been in and out in 5 minutes, but got asked to stay for a bit to help one of the others (who’s dyslexic) finish off his stuff, so I did, 'cos I’s nice like that.
Sent off letter to jobcentre to tell ‘em to stop messin’ about, it’s not my fault I didn’t do something I wasn’t told to do, so now I just have to wait for that back.
It’s sweltery hot today- by local standards, of course. Went to go do some gardening, but melted, so couldn’t. Picked another pot of strawberries- I now officially have more than I know what to do with.
So my work schedule is changing next week. Meaning I’ll be in school on tuesdays and Fridays. And Tuesdays are a long day at school. Meaning I’ll have to stay at school all day and during lunch. Hopefully the weather will be good enough so that I can go outside on Tuesdays at lunchtime and not put up with the shrieking soccer idiots in the gym.
The siding and windows are completely off of the east side of my house. Yesterday we:
got all of the window openings reframed to the size of the new windows,
replaced a section of water damaged footer board,
framed and poured concrete to fill in a basement window, after we
broke out the concrete box around the basement window (otherwise known as the leaf and trash trap),
added 4 new outlets, as long as the walls were open,
used wallboard to fill in two front room windows,
bug sprayed the footers,
many dump runs, etc.
Today the crew will:
paint the footers with something to retard mold
put up the insulation
put up house wrap
paint and install siding
seal up the old siding still behind the chimney (why there’s siding behind the chimney, I don’t know.
I’m very thankful to all the relatives and friends who showed up to help. Yes, we fed them well, but still. I’m grateful.
I’m also going to leave work as soon as I can to join them. It’s dead here. On the other hand, there’s nothing stacked in front of my computer here, so I can at least say a hurried hi.
I wasn’t actually fooling around this time because we had some free time. And I did learn a few things while puttering around online. I learned that the mayor of Calgary wrote a Twitter tweet from the back of a horse. Tee hee hee.
Coming up on noon, and it’s still only in the mid-70s. MUCH better than it’s been for the last week.
The unemployment people got their act together after getting the info they claimed to need (that was submitted in the first place) via e-mail, and we managed to find a clinic with an office visit fee we could handle, so DH is now on metformin. Seems to be helping so far, but I gather it can be a bit hard to say after only three days.
Now we just need to get the UI people to start sending money.
We did a bunch of driving - went to a cool art store in Annapolis and spent way more than we expected, ran by Sears in Annapolis to get **FCD **a light weight long sleeve white shirt to wear while biking so’s he doesn’t get burned, stopped at a motorcycle stuff store in Annapolis, but they didn’t have what **FCD **was looking for, so we headed south to Prince Frederick to another motorcycle stuff store where he found what he wanted. Then across the Patuxent river to St. Mary’s county for a stop at the Charlotte Hall Food Lion for milk, bread, and some other stuff that I just **had **to have!
Once home, we had a late lunch, and we just finished taking down and folding the laundry, and I put it all away. It’s hot out and clouding over, but only 10% chance of rain, so I guess the clouds are just passing thru. **FCD **is prepping for a ride tomorrow to Williamsport, MD. I’ll probably do some yard work in the morning. But for now I veg…
Spineydoc tells me that the segment of my spine that was “done” or bone on bone was so badly bone on bone that he could not separate those vertebrae to insert a fusion “cage”
My brother has a screw loose. Literally. Three years ago, he had some hardware installed in his back to alleviate spinal stinosis - lately he’s been in a lot of pain, so he went to the spine doc - the x-ray shows one of the screws broke off and was wiggling around.
Home for a short bit.
I ate my lunch which was half a left over cheeseburger sub from Toosday.
Sah-dog got his hambuger type food which he loves. He is slightly miffed because I wouldn’t let him have two packs of food. I think he would happily eat the whole box in one sitting if I let him.
Sah-son is still in bed having stayed up all night.
Am home from work (have been home for a while, actually). Got quite a bit done, but still need to work part of the weekend. Booooo.
Sorry you’re still in the hospital, gotti. Sounds like the surgery was not fun for Spineydoc either. Hope they spring you soonest.
Am considering going outside to work some in the garden. It seems fairly nice and is not raining at the moment. It’s been raining a lot, so weeding should be pretty easy.
