Up, and caffeinated. Off work, so it’s cleaning and laundry day.
up, not yet caffeinated, so BLURF
Sometimes my Restless Leg Syndrome kicks so far into overdrive that it affects my arms as well. And so I call DOUBLE BLURF.
A very small puddle this morning, not from the myriad fittings and valves on the Reverse Osmosis water filter, but from the !@#$ ten buck hose from Family Dollar.
Yesterday was a tiring day. We went to MiL’s bank branch, only to discover it doesn’t have Saturday hours. Next we headed to her house to look for specific paperwork and with the idea that we’d sort out all the bills and additional paperwork. There is so much there, we couldn’t get through it all, so we boxed it ALL up. Then we picked out an outfit for her to wear in the coffin.
After that, it was off to to hospice to pick up her belongings, then, finally it was off to the funeral home to plan the funeral.
We left at 9:00 in the morning and didn’t get home until 4:30 in the afternoon.
Today, it’s back over to MiL’s house to find photographs for the memorial portrait, obit, and for the hairdresser to use to fix her hair. After that, a couple of errands, and then back here to sort through her paperwork and bills. There are A LOT and it’s shocking.
Tomorrow, it’s off to the bank where the safety deposit box is, in hopes my husband is on the paperwork with access to the box, because that’s where the will is located. After that, I’m sure it’s more sorting and we’re beginning to think we’re really going to need a lawyer because things are not simple.
Finally, if we can’t get one of her life insurance policies assigned to the funeral home, we need to go the bank and take out a loan. Even with the plot, liner, open/close of grave and marker prepaid, the funeral is going to cost quite a bit. We just don’t have enough to cover that right now.
We’ve got a long road in front of us, and I will be glad when it’s all over.

People were having a loud music-blasting party last night here too, but I guess it had stopped by the time I finally went to bed at some time past 2.
I’ve also been on the other end - participated in parties where the police came because people complained about the noise. Although I hasten to add, I’m always quite quiet at parties, never the one putting on or turning up the music, trying not to talk too loudly.
At parties, I usually sit around, talk to people, drink Dr Pepper, do a bit of dancing if I feel silly enough, and, often, end up dozing off on the couch. I’m getting older, I guess. Or at least, a little older than most of my friends at parties, who tend to be about university-student age. They still have the ability to stay up all night withouth massive amounts of caffeine. I used to have that ability, but I’ve lost it.
Gee, I rambled on there. What was I talking about? ![]()
It fellates, Taters.
I buried Mama Plant frugally, with her life insurance and two credit cards.
I mortgaged her house to pay for those and Mrs. Plant’s (v.2.0) debts. Rented it to the granddaughter of one of her friends who became the Tenant From Hell, with seven people living in the house at one time. Then to a disabled Veteran, who is the Tenant From Heaven.
We will be selling the house; we don’t need it, and we don’t want to become landlords.
Additionally, we are not sure if her remaining assets will even cover all of her debts. We were rather nastily surprised. In one respect, I guess we shouldn’t have been surprised; she spent her last year in and out of hospital, along with a three month nursing home stay. I think she just kind of gave up.
Special Sunday blurf to all.
{{{Taters}}}, I’m so sorry about your MIL. We’re all thinking of you.
I have done very little this weekend. Yesterday I went out and spend four hundred dollars on curtain rods. Seriously. Why the hell are curtain rods so expensive? I can’t even afford curtains now. I may spend some of the day trying to actually get the rods up, but the whole reason I bought them is that it’s unmercifully hot in my room during the day. I may be better off waiting until dark.
Roomie got her shit together enough to clean the bathroom–in about five stages over four days. At least she didn’t hurt herself for once.
I didn’t get good offers for the house several years ago. I bought the Tenant from Heaven a new furnace and AC which I have almost paid for.
I do hope that we will make money when the mortgage is paid off.

The whole suburb was having an ear-splitting party, not just one house here- the police don’t even start trying to get people to turn it down 'til 2am. 'Tis only one night a year though.
Started with the house cleaning, walked into town to buy some new scales, discovered they wouldn’t fit in the backpack I bought with me, got distracted by the wimbledon final being played on a big screen in the shopping centre, walked back along the river, and got distracted again by trout. And an eel. Only ever seen one wild eel before, quite pleased about that one.
Taters, funeral planning sucks with great alacrity. When my mother died, my sister and I opted for basic but dignified, and that cost 7 grand 12 years ago.
I’ve left instructions with VWife and VunderKind that when I die, they are to stick a bone up my ass and let the dogs drag me away. Well, not really, but I am to be cremated because my ashes are to be split 7 ways for disposal, and that’s the truth.
And a kegger for after the funeral…
Oh yeah, we have a street party here every year. It’s always loud. Once my family escaped to a faraway ice cream place to get away from it.
So sorry, Taters. Condolences to the whole family. Wish there was something I could do to help.
Spent a lot of time and energy on the garden yesterday. Biught and planted some new daylilies. Bought and planted some additional plants. Need to get out there again to finish up and mulch.
Hugs all.

I’m almost at the “we just need to call for a wheelchair” stage now.
This morning I learned why one must Keep Off the Grass. The Establishment is only trying to help you, man.
The first song I listened to after watching this highly educational short film was “Insomnia”* by Faithless which contains the following lyric:
I only smoke weed when I need to,
And I need to get some rest
*The video doesn’t have this lyric. It’s one of them e-lectronic songs, there are 498 different official remixes and half of them have different lyrics.
Almost forgot more {{{{{{}}}}}} for Taters.
Roomie is on IR after vacuuming half the apartment.:dubious: I did my 3/4 without injury.

BBBobbio, sounds like a plan. Flaming corpses and free beer will insure a packed funeral.
I’ve instructed my family that whatever can’t be harvested for donation is to go to a medical school so that I can be useful even after I’m gone. No grave, no stone, no nothing that future generations will eventually forget about and ignore. If they want to remember me, let them remember who I was and what I did without a monument. I shall live on in the archives of the MMP, right? ![]()
