Why am I weeping? In Peru, I dutifully learned all the required numbers in Spanish. With enormous difficulty. Approx. 1 through 100.
In Bolivia, to my dismay, the currency changed and we were suddenly dealing in, hundreds, thousands, and tens of thousands.
I am weeping here in Equador because I have just learned the local currency is based on millions!
However, the notes themselves are ever so colourful and lovely.

I thought everybody knew it’s feet on the land and fins in the water. BTW This makes it very difficult to walk in the surf.
It’s fins turning to feet and then feet turning to fins then fins turning to feet and so on. It’s neverending, sorta like this thread.

Now I stepped in Totoro poooooooooop, I’ll never get this shit off.
…this, this is Loha, still Equador. Now we were all stuck here because they ran out of visa application forms and we had to stay over night whilst someone scurried to the next town with a photocopy machine and returned with some more.
There was a carnival in this tiny little village that evening and off we went anxious for big fun. As you can see from these photos it was like a journey back into time, like 1930 or so. The tiny, ancient, poorly held together rides were meagre and depressing.
And here you see Mr Elbows and The Obnoxious Auzzie trying their hand at one of the games.
Eventually they broke the bank and walked proudly away sporting a single can of tunafish between the two of them.
That later turned out to be some other fish like substance.
It proved to be quite lovely on crackers.
