Jesper Parnevik is giving some sage advice to Elin…use the driver next time. As it happens Jesper is the one who introduced her to Tiger and has known Elin for a long time.
In totally unrelated news…Elin has a twin sister?

Here’s my fave so far:
What does Tiger have in common with a baby seal?
They’ve both been clubbed by a Norwegian.
(Yeah, I know she’s Swedish, but accuracy is only so important when being this tasteless…)
Yes.
With sites such as eBay, who can blame him?
I don’t think I’d ever heard his real name before.
That is funny, because I have posted before asking why Lefty as a rep as a jerk.
Seemed like the evidence was limited to a lot of not-well-substantiated instances of folk basically saying they didn’t like him, instead of any documented examples of significant jerkitude.
I’m glad to see in print at least one guy who interprets Tiger’s persona/conduct as I have.
Who knows - maybe Lefty cats around on Amy. But if he does, it seems he chooses partners with a tad more discretion than Tiger’s.
Gotta say - I’m impressed that Tiger could keep that many balls in the air and still be the best golfer in the world. Granted, golf isn’t really a sport, but still…
Found the previous thread I started about Lefty.
In it, a couple of different posters said things including:
I’m not sure whether the guys who wrore those things have checked in on this thread - and I’m not at all calling them out. But I’m wondering if the recent developments suggest anything about the value of character references one way or the other from such sources.
Recap - apparently a number of people say Philias “hated” because they don’t like his attitude, consider him arrogant, phony, “a prick.” I accept that.
But contrast that with a guy who appears to have been a pretty blatant philanderer, including cheating on his wife while she was pregnant. Hard to imagine his caddy and fellow players were entirely in the dark about such behavior - he doesn’t appear to have been tremendously discreet. But that doesn’t qualify him as a “prick” or a jerk in their eyes.
I think I know who I’d back in any character derby!
I actually thought he had his name legally changed from “Eldrick” to “Tiger.” I was surprised to see “Eldrick” on the FHP accident report.
I am shocked that there hasn’t been more outrage over the lack of investigation of the accident. IMO, there is no way a non-impaired experienced driver would drive that erratically. According to the FHP report, he swerved off the road 3 times, two times to the right and the third time to the left where he hit a fire hydrant and tree on the passenger side of the car.
By non-impaired, I don’t necessarily mean alcohol. It could be impairment via a sand-wedge.
I’ll go with “bitching wedge”.
What’s your point? That doesn’t make it legal. That’s like speeding and not getting caught. Are you a “it’s legal until you get caught” type of person? :dubious:
Some thoughts:
We’ve discussed the issue of who owns and who controls the mailbox before. I believe it’s been addressed by either Unca Cece or by his dedicated Staff. I’m not bothering to link said discussions; if you want to be truly informed you can do the search. But even if you don’t want to do that search, you might actually try researching relevant statutes/regulations before commenting (and yes, I did see some do exactly that; this isn’t aimed in their direction).
Eldrick Woods is the legal name of Tiger. There was some indication on the Web that he had changed his name to “Tiger Woods” legally. However, I researched this about a year or two ago and there did not appear to be any actual supporting documentation. Indeed, what documentation there was suggested that the name change had not in fact occurred. I recall having the information about the name change in Wikipedia retracted on this basis.
The issue of what kind of person Phil Mickelson is depends on who you ask. We’ve seen ample evidence that Phil is generous to his supporters/fans/spectators. We’ve seen ample evidence that Phil is viewed as a less than likeable person by his fellow competitors, or at least a portion of them. We’ve seen zero evidence on what Phil is like when dealing with the local grocery clerk, or the neighbors, etc. These are not incompatible results. It is quite possible for a person to be aloof when dealing with competitors, friendly dealing with fans, and unknown when dealing with the general public. The fact that Tiger is an apparent philanderer/adulterer does not change this in any way. Tiger may be a perfectly likeable person, and an adulterer; Phil may be a complete jerk to competitors (heck, to everyone!) and be faithful as can be. The two are unrelated.
Tiger owes nothing to anyone as a sports figure who receives endorsements. He can shut his mouth, retain his privacy, allow the rumors to run on without his contributions, etc., and there is no reason to castigate him for that choice. However, like all people, his choices have consequences. If his choices (either to have sex with someone not his wife, or his choice to refuse to comment on rumors) result in a reduction in his marketability, the consequence of those choices will be a reduction in his endorsements. But we the spectating, golf-equipment-buying public have no right to know anything about what is going on in his life.
Dinsdale your continued attempts to somehow seemingly happily use this situation to denegrate Tiger do you no credit. We know you somehow resent his popularity, for reasons I’ve never understood. To revel, or even enjoy mildly his “comeuppance” is not a positive trait on your part.
And, so far as I know, neither I, nor anyone I’ve paid any attention to, has asserted that Tiger leads an exemplary life. Indeed, his continued insistence upon maintaining a private life outside of golf, which I completely understand, has resulted in the general public having little or no relevant information on the “private” Tiger Woods. I am his fan not because I think he’s a saint, but because he’s the best golfer that has ever graced the planet, and in general he handles himself well in the process of winning tournament after tournament. Yes, he has a temper on the course, and I wish he was more like my original golfing “idol”, Jack, but it doesn’t diminish significantly his status in my mind that he is a fierce competitor and that that slips through from time to time.
And there are plenty of us who can root for Tiger and not root against Phil Mickelson; can you (the general “you”, not a specific person) rise to the level of managing to root for your guy (whoever it is) without rooting against Tiger?
Who were the first two?
[Golf clap]
There’s the dame in NY who is denying it, I think, and another woman who is allegedly to be named soon. We’ll see what the final count is soon enough.
I resent Tiger because the damn sports radio I listen to won’t stop talking about this and I like my sports talk radio.
Using your kind of math we may never know.
The final unconfirmed number may or may not be as high as 100.
Thanks for your opinion. Me, I don’t like the guy. Sorry you don’t agree or understand. But I’m enjoying this. Hell, add it to the lengthy list of my “not positive traits.”
And yeah, I’ll take an arrogant SOB (which Tiger has always impressed me as being anyway) over a philanderer any day.
Dude cheated on his pregnant wife. Multiple times, with multiple women, in ongoing secret relationships. I don’t think this makes him a horrible human being, and it doesn’t make me hate him. But I don’t think this makes him “human”. It makes him a scumbag.
