They made the ‘official’ announcement at work today that I’m retiring, so people have been stopping by to congratulate me. Favorite question seems to be “What are you going to do?”, as if I should have my next job all lined up and ready to go. Hey, let me enjoy retirement for a bit before I do a FCM and go back to work!!!
Just spent some credit card money on a performance by Blue Man Group (touring show). I saw them many years ago in Las Vegas and found them extraordinary entertainment, so what the hell, the budget is good.
Need to pick up dry cleaning and fill the gas tank tonight after irk…such is life.
Howdy Y’all! My irk week is officially over! YAY! Of course I shall spend a large part of tomorrow buyin’ foodstuffs and preparin’ for tomorrow night’s fish ‘n chips at the church house but still it ain’t irk and I like doin’ stuff like that there. Dindin shall be grilled poke chops, green beans, wild rice (it appears to have calmed down somewhat :D) and crescent rolls. Easy to do, just the way I like my dindin and my men.
Hard to believe, but I’ve been with the company for 15 years. Got the Lucite dingus to prove it, even.
On the DH front, we’re starting Plan C next Tuesday. This will be a two-week hospital stay as this chemo formula is full of inconvenient timings that would be impossible to manage at home, and they’ll be monitoring bloodwork at least daily, rather than just once or twice a week.
Worst part of the first day on the new job was the commute home. Some annoying fellow passengers and the bus was running late. I did manage to get home with enough time to Hoover down some dinner before I’m off to class.
Friendly bunch, I don’t think it’ll take me all that long to get up to useful speed, and while I’m officially in a trial period, the boss used the phrase “when you’re permanent” at least once when talking to me, so I think she’s assuming I’ll stick around. Suits me.
After dindin I decided to go ahead and go to the Pubic Sto’ to get stuff tonight rather than in the mornin’. I won’t feel so rushed and besides I had OYKW to help me carry stuff into the kitchen and put it all away.
Nettie yay for good first day at the new gig!
**
sari** yay for Sah-Son!
{{{gotti and DH}}} hope all goes well.
I am about to retire to the boudoir with OYKW. Well, he’s already there. We shall watch teevee until sleepy time.
Work was nice; but the weather has turned partly to mostly shitty. Dinner was leftovers with plans of splurging useless calories and calling out for pizza tomorrow.
Thanks for the overture, but I was not asking for an introduction to William.
Wow, consecutive posts by gottie & nettie about Day One & Day <a sh*tload> on the job. Way to go, you two!
The debate was funny. Like watching a bunch of stand up comedians. Except for poor Ben Carson. He really is not being treated fairly. I feel sorry for him. He seems like a nice guy.
I am so glad tomorrow is Firday. Been a rough week.
Thinking of the debates makes me think of the election this year, and that’s depressing. There’s nobody I really want to vote for. There’s just choices that are lesser evils. The last time I remember voting for a presidential candidate, rather than against one, was in 1992.
I’m up early as I couldn’t sleep well last night. It’s been a short series of naps. I’ll get dressed and go in early, just to get out early.
Tonight and a good part of tomorrow will be fun, it’s the Kansas Silent Film Festival. I’ve seen some really fine films over the years. Buster Keaton rocks!!!
Slept with Mel last night, but Higgs thought 5 was time to get up. I managed to ignore her till 6, when I finally let her out and fed her. Naturally, she’s sleeping again and I’m up. Stoopit dog!
Eye Dr appt at 10. I think I’ll also take time today and sort thru the papers that have been accumulating on my desk - some need to be filed, most probably need to be tossed. Beyond that, the day will just happen.
For some reason I slept much better last night than I have done all week, in fact I was woken by the alarm which hasn’t happened for a long time as I am usually wide awake before it goes off. So today I hauled myself out of bed and off to irk with a bit of shevelling in between. The bonus is that I get to leave early so I can make it to the spin class I’ve booked on at 6pm.
Irk is as irksome as usual, someone wants me to design a sign for the noticeboard for our translation programme with all of the flags for languages we teach. Nice idea, but which of the three options for Catalan flags should I use, and where the Arabic flag? Honestly, these people think I’ve got nothing better to do with my time…at least I can ask the Catalan and Arabic tutors what they suggest before I use the wrong flag and cause an international incident.
In other news, it’s payday today, and I also got some money transferred by someone I’ve sold a couple of festival tickets to, so the old bank account is looking quite healthy until next week when all the bills get paid.
Yay for Sah-son’s test results, let’s hope the next one is as good!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 58 and sunny for the day. A typical lateish Winter day in south Jawja.
I have such excitatin’ plans for the day. First, I shall make cole slaw. Then I shall go over to the church house to slice fish fillets and set up for tonight’s doin’s. Then I shall do some laundry. Then I shall head back to the church house to begin the cookin’ of fish, fries, and hush puppies. You’re all jealous. I just know y’all are.
For now, however, I shall consume more caffeine and feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall purtify and head out.
Up at 0400 (mind over body; I wanted to keep sleeping), so browsed some notes on the debate last night (I refuse to watch that circus, it has nothing but clowns). Into work early (I’m not due until 0700, but I always seem to get there between 0615 and 0630…don’t know why).
Have the pest service coming over next week to check inside my house for termites, so of course I forgot if it was Monday or Tuesday, so a call is in order this AM so I know when to take off irk.
Signed up for six weekend indoor soccer games. Last weekend, then I get a break for about 3 weeks until the spring outdoor season starts.
