I’m sorry to hear this. Always enjoyed reading his posts. He will be missed. My condolences.
I’m very sad for you; he was always one of my favorite posters.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Polycarp was indeed a man of wisdom and knowledge. I shared a special bond with him as an Episcopalian. I think the prayer from the BCP quoted by NorthernPiper sums it up well.
Please know that Polycarp, you and the entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am so very, very sorry for your loss - my thougths and prayers are with you and your family. He will be greatly missed.
Fuck.
Poly was a friend I never met, and I greatly mourn his passing. Go with God, Poly. You were one of the good ones.
That is awful news. When just looking at a fake name and words on a computer screen it is usually difficult to get a true feeling of what the poster is as a person. Not so with Poly. A true gentleman that will be missed.
And another of the Old Guard is lost. My condolences
Said news indeed. Polycarp was an excellent poster and a really good person from everything I have seen on this board.
My condolences,
Jim
I’ll miss him terribly. He was such a charming and positive presence here.
This place is blessed with many intelligent folks, but few, if any, show the kindness and generosity of spirit that your husband did. He will be greatly missed and his example should remind us all that life is fleeting but your works may endure if built with compassion and grace.
Be well, Mrs. Carp. I hope it is some consolation that he was genuinely respected by many people here at the SDMB.
I am so sorry. Please accept my condolences.
I’m so sorry.
Salute.
We are diminished by our loss.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
This is sad news. Polycarp was one of my (and I’m sure many others’) favorite and most respected posters. His expertise and wisdom will be missed, especially in threads on grammar or religion.
I am truly sorry to hear of Poly’s passing. It’s been many years since I’ve seen him in person, and I haven’t been in many threads with him in recent years either. But he was a genuinely wise and good man, and I’m sorry I won’t see him again in this world.
A true gentleman. Kind, well informed and yet always eager to learn new things. He will be missed.
RIP Poly.
a devastating loss for everyone, family, friends, and this community.
may his memory be eternal!
blessed is the way wherein you walk today, oh soul, for there is prepared for you a place of rest.
I’m so very sorry. Polycarp was one of the posters I’d look for every day.
I’m so sorry to hear this. Polycarp was a real asset to this community and I feel for you and his other loved ones for losing such a thoughtful, generous-spirited man.
