Polycarp’s kindness and gentle demeanor was one of the things that drew me to finally open an account here after lurking for several years. He will be greatly missed.
My prayers are with all who mourn. May you be comforted, as his memory will surely be for a blessing.
I found Polycarp to be funny, wise, patient, generous and EXTREMELY virtuous. He always did his best to be his brother’s keeper. One hand is too many to count the times I saw him speak in anger.
As you can probably see, Polycarp was one of the most respected posters here. He was one of the few who always brightened my day, and whenever he would post in a thread I had started, it gave me at little boost … I’d think “Hey, one of the really cool people noticed what I wrote!”
I’m so sorry, and I truly mean that. Poly was one of my favorite Dopers, and I’m honored in having been able to actually meet him in person at the first Gettysdope. Even though his posting here was curtailed recently, that’s different from knowing he’ll never post here again. My condolences to you and yours, Skulldigger. He will truly be missed by an amazingly large group of people.
I’m so sorry to hear that. He was one of the nicest posters we’ve had. I’ve missed him recently and I’m so sad that we’re going to always miss him now.
Very sad news. At the risk of being redundant after all the other posts to this thread, he was one of the most even-tempered, sensible people I’d ever run across on this or any other message board. His insights and commentary will be missed.
Thank you for taking the time, in what must be a terribly difficult time for you, to let us know of his passing. Our community is diminished in his passing.
I, too, hope you find peace and strength in your time of need.
