to anyone who is interested.... [RIP Polycarp]

Well, now you’ve inspired me to go look up some of the old threads that Polycarp started. I found some good ones…

Here’s Polycarp as historian and grammar/spelling Nazi: A Visit From St. Nicholouse, Or I Pit Lazy/Stupid Spellers

Here’s Polycarp the preacher of Christian love: Did you know that God has only THREE requirements…

Here’s Polycarp the devoted husband and advocate of same-sex (as well as opposite-sex) marriage: Civil Union This!

Here’s Polycarp the SF fan: What SF Novel Would You Most Want to See Made into a Movie?

and here’s Polycarp the, well, Straight Doper: The Odd Bits of Trivia Thread

I’m so sorry.

My condolences. Polycarp will be missed. I was thinking of him yesterday, reading a religious forum and telling myself that they would need someone like him to post there, and wondered why I hadn’t noticed him in a while.

Thank you for taking the time to inform us.

Wow. I’m sorry. What shocking and sad news.

I’m very sorry to hear this. I enjoyed his posts. He must have been an awesome person to know in person.

Poly was one of my favorite posters and one of the main reasons I joined this board eleven years ago. I loved talking to him about religion in general and what was happening in the Episcopal Church we both loved. I’ve missed the days when he was most active but always comforted when I saw a new post from him.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Mrs. Carp. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

I’m very sorry to hear this. **Polycarp **was always a reasonable and decent person from what I saw here. He will be missed.

Prayers and condolences.

It must be dusty in here, because surely I’m not getting damp eyed over someone I never met in person. Wait, yes, I am because he was a good man who’s worth missing.

I quickly recognized Polycarp’s name in the title and read back a few of his posts. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

I am incredibly sorry for your loss…and for ours.

I’m very sorry for your loss. When I try to think of Polycarp’s stature on this board I keep thinking Elder Statesman, even though I know that’s not exactly the right phrase. He was admired and respected. We’re going to miss him.

I can’t add to what has been said already. He was one of the posters that inspired me to join the forum way back when…only to be immediately chastised by him for my thoughtless post. Ha!

I knew him here, on the Pizza Parlor and Christian Forums.

My condolences.

I know I hadn’t seen him post in a while, and I’m sorry to say I didn’t know he was ill.

I will keep the Carp family in my prayers, Poly himself doesn’t need them anymore.

May his memory be eternal

I am so sorry for your loss. He was part of the heart of this board and he’ll be very sorely missed.

My condolences. His posts will be missed. :frowning:

Thoughts are with you Ms. Carp.

So sorry to hear this. Thanks to Mrs. P. for letting us know. And thanks to Thudlow Boink for those links; **Poly **the Grammar Nazi was my favorite and I will miss him.

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope it can be some comfort to you to know that your husband’s presence here enriched many of our lives, including mine. I’ll always remember him fondly.
