Your “bad apples on the other side” are police breaking up unlawful protests? How fucking stupid do you want to keep making yourself look?
Oh, really? How do you know that the war isn’t making any of us see red? Maybe some here don’t agree with the war but feel that blocking traffic only serves to piss off everyone else and possibly endanger lives & property by suddenly limiting access routes for emergency vehicles? Nah, couldn’t be. We don’t like those protests so all of us must be in favor of the war. Gotcha.
Good advice. Actually I’m part of a group that is trying to do exactly that. We were focused on other issues before but this is taking priority at the moment.
We’ve heard plenty about your rights, now lets hear something about your responsibilities. Or do you have any?
I found this interesting.
As far as im concerned Fox can say whatever it wants on its billboard, for exactly the same reason Ace should be allowed to carry his. Fox just has a much bigger sign is all. Deal with it.
But most amazingly Ace, why have you determined that i have “repetative and useless information”? I dont know about your search engine capabilities but unles you just read radical liberal websites you MUST know that any semi inteligent person can goggle almost any viewpoint on the planet about almost any issue. I have a Political Science degree,so at the very least have demonstrated the ability to gather political information to a semi professional level. So with THAT crappy stinking pile of arguement dismissed, you sound like a whinning sniveling idiot…HEY WORLD LISTEN TO ME>>IM RIGHT>>>NO REALLY I AM>>>>>HEY I MEAN IT>>>NO I REALLY REALLY MEAN IT>>>>>IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME IM GUNNA HOLD MY BREATH TILL I DIE!!! WHAAAA!!!NO ONES EVEN PAYING ANY ATTENTION TO ME!!! I THINK ILL THROW MY PEAS ON THE WALL>>> WHHHHHAAAAA!!!
Great, a conspiracy theorist.

Perhaps, but I’ll admit to having similar thoughts myself.
I’m naive and idealistic. I wish for a media which at least has the illusion of being impartial.
Uh huh. Gone to al-jazeera.net, lately? Watched Fox’s coverage, at all? In terms of the majority of information reaching you, it is nothing but not repetative and useless derivative guesswork about still photos that the Pentagon has approved for release combined with minutae from embedded reporters. Basra uprising? The 51st surrenders? Who the damn hell knows?
Yet your OP’s content and your posts’ tone belie that professed degree and ability. I’ve provided several cites of police abusing non-violent protestors, thus making your original point of “damn those violence loving fools” as a silly strawman that purposely excludes the full range of data, a point which you fundamentally failed to address.
Hopefully in graduate school you can learn how to have a debate without sounding quite so hysterical.
Great point, there, old bean, except for the small fact that the 250 violence reports were from a legal protest.
Oh, and then there’s the whole concept of proportionate response and distinguishing between violent and non-violent actors, but, alas, these concepts are clearly lost upon you, dear Saen who, if given the chance, would no doubt still be firing at the Kent State students.
You are vile.
Ok Ace…lets get your position right out into the open because im slightly confused. You seem to think that the illegal actions of protesters are “bad apples” which seems to indicate you dont support illegal actions during protests. Then you seem to infer support of such action by stating, "Perhaps it was because nothing else was working? That we’ve been tired of being marginalized and herded and dismissed?"in reference to civil disobediance. So what is it? Is violence and laying down in the road ok for protesters to do in your world view? What is ok and what is going too far in your mind?
Is it at all possible for you to STOP conflating civil disobedience and violent protest? Asking “Is violence and laying down in the road ok for protestors” is another damned conflation out of you!
Violence is not OK, non-violent civil disobedience is fine, as I’ve already said multiple times in multiple ways – what on earth is so confusing about the concept?
Also, Id like to address this crap regarding my or anyone elses access to information and to be able to intelligently draw conclusions based on such. Your point about lack of current battlefield war data and its accuracy is 100% correct and also 100% irrelevant. Are you protesting a Basras revolt? No, of course not, your protesting a long line of political decisions made by World Leaders over an extended period of time, that have been well documented by almost every nation that has a newspaper on the planet. In addition it is an event that has been vigorusly debated publicly by the finest minds on the planet both pro and con war. For you to have the arrogance to assume that the only reason people dont agree with you is because you dont feel they have enough of the “right” facts is astounding to me.
So Ace…is it ok to destroy a lab that experiments on animals as long as noone gets hurt?
WRONG!
See, fucknugget, making things up dosen’t help your point either. From your own link:
The police were arresting people breaking the law. They were denied a permit, they wanted to march anyway. You’d get no sympathy from me even if you weren’t a flaming hemorrhoid of idiocy. You wanna indulge your “right” to break the law? Then you’ll have to deal with being treated like a criminal.
sigh
There’s enough bullshit on both sides to fill a fleet of dump trucks, and–despite being pretty neutral on the war–I’m beginning to get a little pissed off at the “fuck the old hippies and rich-kid college students” bullshit. I went to a college known for having some of the craziest of the bunch; the ones who welcome riots and whatnot. They’re idiots, but they’re not the vast majority of people you’d be seeing at these protests if you paid attention. Instead, you’d see hard-working people like some of those I know attending: a scientist, some college grads trying to get by on temp work, a guy who does as many hours of (voluntary) community service as most people spend at their job, two teachers in freaking inner-city schools that have probably done more for this country than every asshole mocking them thrown together.
And yet they have to put up with bullshit like:
Because CNN goes out of its way to show the most divisive of the group, and because assholes decide that the protestors should be judged on how they look. They’ve become “criminals” because the government has seen fit to restrict their right to peacefully assemble (sure it’s legal, but it still amazes me how many libertarianish–note the ish and lack of a capital–people suddenly have no problem with restricting rights when it impacts their political opponents).
I have friends who were nearly crushed because the police would not let them leave the scene and peacefully disperse; not even the middle-aged woman with obvious health problems. People who couldn’t get to work because the police were shutting down commuter services so that citizens couldn’t protest peacefully in an area that blocked nobody’s commute.
Goddamn, would a little decency be too much to ask? Apparently so, because they’re “flaming hemorrhoid(s) of idiocy” for wanting to walk from one location to another on the sidewalk.
It reminds me a lot of those malls that have rules against more than four people gathering there (and have chairs attached to tables such that if you have five people, one poor bastard has to go sit elsewhere and eat alone); just cause it’s the rules doesn’t make it right, and sometimes you have to break the rules if you want any hope of getting them changed (see: civil disobedience). Somehow, I’m not sure how that warrants being harrassed by jackasses and threatened with death/maiming/whatver.
And now I’ll crawl back to just hoping this war’s over quickly, one way or the other.
You are a fucking moron. They are not being judged on how they look, I’m saying that is what they appear to be, appearance not necessarily being reality. If I had wanted to, I would have said they are hippies and so forth.
Showe where I advocated restricting naybody’s rights. Go ahead, motherfucker.
Oh yeah? Well fuck you and your mother.
And you are lying. Those 250 protestors were not protesting legally. Go fuck yourself kid.
Dammit, I got caught up in your childish game. Those “violence reports” were not 250 protestors, nor were they violence reports. They were 250 incident reports submitted to the NYCLU upon request about the violence. A report is not substative until it is investigated. And false reports submitted to a bunch of liberal lawyers hold no consequesnces whatsoever. As a matter of fact I am inclined to make it 251 just to give them something equally as useless to do.
